while watching a dvd of the history channel's series, 'Mail Call' i noticed a reference to a World War 1 machine gun that looked an awfull lot like the famed T-21 of Star Wars.

**disclamer** i don't follow the rifleman forumns too closely, so this may be old news to you all.

Almost all Star Wars weaps were actually guns that they modified to "look cool". DL-44 was a German officer's sidearm I believe, etc.

Quite a number of Star Wars weaponry are modified form demilled weaponry, most notably from World War II.

Han Solo's DL-44? From the German Mauser Pistol, a pre World War II weapon.

The T21 we see the Stormtroopers have? As already mentioned, the British Lewis Gun.

The E11 blasters? British Sterling Sub-Machineguns.

The Rebel blasters at Hoth / Empire Strikes Back? From the German MP-44 (or Sturmgewehr-44) of World War II... the father of the modern Assault Rifle.

There are Stormtroopers in ANH's Mos Eisley that have the German MG-34, a much used Machinegun from World War II also.

I also want to say there was a character that had a modified German MG-42 from World War II also, but can't remember which one...

Yep. Most any blaster in the SW universe is built off a real life fire arm.

Check out This Site and make your very own T-21... or a Jawa Ion Blaster if your feeling festive!

I ran into that guy's site before. Impressive looking stuff he has. His Boba Fett outfit definitely looks the part.

Since were relating SW or RLhas anyone elts noticed how the Empire resimbles nazi germany? Germans used stormtroopers, so does the empire. WW2 german officer uniforms are very simalar to Imperial officer uniforms. Also the empire was trying to eliminate a single "religon" (in EP4 jedi is reffered to as a religion in the death star meeting)....sounds alot like the nazi's huh? And there is the fact that most of SW wepons are modifyed WW1 and WW2 wepons. The Germans tryed to build the ultimate wepon but failed (nuke) and the empire tryed building the ultimate wepon (deathstar).

Now we know where Lucas got his idea for the empire

Imho, the weapons from the original trilogy are the coolest-looking. The silvery, Flash Gordonesque stuff in the newer movies looks slightly cheesy.
