To be effective in conceal shot,

Do i just need : Intermediate concealment tactic and be effective,

or do i have to climb the concealment tactic to master ?

I do very well with it at the 1st level. I think as long as you don't miss the shot it does not break, I have sniping 3 so I don't miss all that often. From what I can tell all that moving up that tree does is make it easier to take cover and a tiny range defense bonus.

it's true. If you miss a couple of times the mob can come after you. Just hit peace if you miss and wait a coupel of seconds. You will be fine. The trick with conceal shot is always staying in your favored range. Dont' be afraid to hit the peace, get up and move when you have too. On a side noat, I have always considered this skill to be the most powerful skill we have until we get straff 2. IMO it's the best pve skill in the game, and makes riflemen best at pve.

I never paid attention to my conceal miss rate, but I've fired it thousands of times and have never been aggroed, so I'm guessing that either I'm not missing much (master at 64m) or that the misses don't really matter.

I'm sure I've missed a bunch because I just spam out a million of them and hit peace right before my mind runs out.

Now, if only they'd fix conceal shot because if the mob doesn't know who's shooting him, his friends shouldn't know either.

Hehe, with the upcoming minds and secondary stat buffs. I don't see why not, but I really think if it gets out of hand with rifleman doing stuff like that we are going to get nerfed hard. It would still take forever to do it though.

Personally I try and only use conceal shot when nobody is around or only when grouped with other rifleman. I killed a night sister with my partner the other day. I did not notice the melee guy standing there watching us, after we finished her off the guy was amazed at what he saw and thought I was exploiting. Because she just stood there as we shot her for like ten minutes.

Concealshot rocks, and that is all there is to it, and not just in solo. If you watch for misses and keep track of your mind bar on really big mobs, you can easily solo in PvE. But even with groups, it is good. If you are the lone rifleman in a group, everyone else is hittinghealthand action and you are the only one hitting mind, you are not really helping the group take down bigger creatures. Thus, you are better off switching to a random pool attack like concealshot. But at the same time, using concealshot means that you are not likely to grab the attention of the target. So you can sit off at distance, plinking away while your other group members are being wacked because they have made themselves a threat to the target.

It also does decent damage, it is just, as I said, random pool damage, so you do not get the mind shot/headshot benefit of targeting a specific pool. I am sure that I will use other shots as I get beyond my current 1301 skills set, but I will always use concealshot.

can you use thiis to solo stuff like kratys?

i've used it on kuga's and other good lone npc's but will it work on these too?

well the alternative would be pve immortality. as is i can solo nearly any mob in the game with this shot (with exceptions).

but i digress... to use it effectively now you have to pick a mob that has wandered away from the pack. there will always be one you can shoot at, sometimes you have to be a little patient though. always get in a straight line between you and the mob you want to shoot *and* its closest companion. shoot from 64-65m and you should be ok most of the time.

will you die sometimes? sure. i can't tell you how many times i concealshotted a mob just as it started walking away out of range only to aggro his friends and have them warp right on my head. ARGH. but i used that shot for a good 30% of my xp to master though. it also saved my butt in group situations a bunch of times. heck, i still use it when an area attack isn't a good idea and if they ever make surpriseshot actually require cover i will no doubt use it even more.
