Thread: Nightsister hunting as a rifleman

Hi all.

First id like to say that i am new to being a rifleman. I am currently 4/0/3/2 and should hit master in another day or 2 the way i am flying through the trees. I have already unlocked so I am choosing rifleman as a permanent profession (until it gets nerfed to oblivion). Since i have a jedi i am choosing to go master Doctor along with rifleman (for buffing purposes), so rifles will be my only Offencive capabilities.

With all that in mind i now come to the question at hand. Can a rifleman take on nightsisters with any effectiveness? If i remember right they are 100% energy resistant so that means t21's and laser rifles are useless. I am really in the dark on other weapons we have that will work on them. I know the ion rifle does stun, does that work well on them? I have yet to purchase one since i dont plan on doing any PvP until master.

Also, would it work to my favor to drop all my doc skills except what is needed to do buffs and take up some CM skills to help against energy resistant mobs.

Thx for any advice.

It depends on the nightsister, only some of them have 100% energy resist and as far as I know they have only medium armour so you will still hurt them (but not much since you will have about a 75% damage reduction). I have personally soloed alot of nightsisters as master CH with master rifle and only really find spellweavers and above much of a problem. Since you don't have CH the best advice I can give you is to get a friend who has TK or any other melee profession to come along to tank for you (as long as they have some very nice armour) or even a friend with master CH and some decent BE pets. I haven't fought many nightsisters since they nerfed bleeds recently so I'm not sure if bleeds are still viable against the 100% energy resistant ones though.

bleeds are not viable for much of anything but insuring the monster keeps its full attention on you each time the bleed hits.

Rifle mows through the nitesisters witht he noted exception of the 100% energy resist ones. those also tend to be 100% to all the other rifle damage types as well.

Yep. I've cleared out most of the forced labor camp this way, sometimes using advanced strafe if I actually want a little excitement of the witches chasing me. Only sisters you can't hurt are the Spell Weavers and Stalkers, possibly one other kind, they are 100% resist to all rifle damage types, and I'm pretty sure the resist is applied after any AP calculation, so it doesn't matter what armor rating theyhave. I've tried shooting these 100% resist witches, you can't hurt them. Luckily for me, I bring along some TKA friends to help punch these witches to death.

Agreed. Whatever you do, if you're going after these thnig have at least one melee class with you, or take upone yourself. Stalkers, Spellweavers, and worst of all Protectors (60k HAM +100% energy resistant = unfun). Otherwise, most of the other mobs should pose very little problem with a decent T21. Just beware of force debilitate weakening your focus/wp. It can bring those stats WAY down, making HAM costs go through the roof. A good solid bet is to have master brawler for 20 sec delay when this happens.

Two things to remember:

When hunted by an elder,just...run as hell hehe.

When you face the rest, just be buffed and on brandy and/or muon cause that lil choke thing with that forcepush or mind trick thing that knocks you down can be deadly
Or just get a nice pike profession like yours truly.

Okay, I've soloed a lot of nightsisters. Weavers included. No pets, sometimes no buffs. Kiting = Good. Throws off their accuracy and they don't range attack as much. Having good defense helps too.

Here's the thing. You can concealshot one all day and not kill it with energy. It's about the dots. I use to have a flamethrower too, so I could put a good dot on it, even though they also have 100% heat resist. So put your bleed on it. Prone 64 meters with a bleed. Then wait.

The bleed will start to take down the resists. Eventually you will start to see actual damage from your strafe2 with a T21 other than just having the AP 3 vs Medium armor bonus, or headshot if you prefer. By the end your hits will be doing more and more damage till its as if you are hitting any normal MOB. There is obviously some calculation to the resists that happens as the NPC loses health. So keep the bleed on it. That's guaranteed damage. A stun if you can land one, don't count on landing a dizzy though. Also their terrain negotiation stinks. Be prepared to spend a lot of powerups and guns at this, heh. Now, the staying alive part is your problem. =)

But still, I want my KINETIC TUSKEN RIFLE!!!!

best sister hunting can be done in a duo, preferribly rifleman + medic type and a CH + whatever.

CH pets tank for rifleman if done corretcly you can kill all day long.

I have a rifleman and have thought about hunting these. Why do people seek out nightsisters? Is it for the adventure or do they drop good loot?

Nightsister Slaves, Initiates, Ranger, Rancor Tamers, Sentinels, and Elder: Yes, they have low Energy resist, and 100% to every other type of damage type that a rifleman can do, cold, stun or acid.

Nightsister Spellweaver, Stalkers and Protectors: No; well not effectively. 100% resist to Energy, Cold, Acid and Stun. But be advised one out of every 5 or 7 shots will actually penetrate their armor and do full damage. Not something you should relay on unless you are hunting in a group with someone or a pet tanking for you. Then just spam Strafe 2 and hope a few shots makes it through.
