Thread: So what's the uber-est of Rifles nowadays?

I have been out of the game since early March, and I'm only now getting back into it, post-CU.

I know some rifles have been changed, and some new ones have been introduced, but is a well-crafted T-21 still THE rifle of choice, if only from a pure DPS perspective? Or has a new (or CU-tweaked) rilfe supplanted it?

I just have some creds to burn and am wondering if I need to trade up from my pre-CU T-21 or Geo Rifle.

T21 and Advance Laser Rifle have samey stats now, depends on the WS who made it. R21 is Certed for MRM, ALR is certed at CL54. Also ALR is cheeper to make.

Edit: Another thing. ALR takes 2 less Krayt tissues than the T21 does. Also check the SAC of a weapon out as well as the DPS.

Damage, speed and SAC are roughly comparable between T-21 and ALR (though due to resource requirements the ALR usually has a slight lead over the T-21). The big difference though is the ALR can take a scope, so you can get a much larger accuracy bonus on it.

I had 6 ident 180 dmg tissue and wanted to make a T21, but when the weaponsmith told me I could get 2 ALRs made with easier to find resources and better accuracy stats I decided to go that route. Even though the T21 looks and sounds cool, it has the exact same dmg speed and SAC caps as the ALR, and ALR is cheaper to make and can have a scope put on it. Only thing better about the T21 is wound%. I can't even tell you what wound% does to help you in a battle.

The T21 is an obsolete piece of hardware only used because of looks and prestige. Maybe the devs will see fit to change this in the future, but for now there is no advantage that I can see to use a T21. What is funny is I still use my T21 even though it is inferior to the Laser Rifles in my inventory. I guess it is kind of like the mechanical arms thing with me. Yeah they make you a more deadly player, but look at you. You got these bony looking arms and are holding a piece of stamped sheet metal with 2 tubes coming out of it that someone stuck a scope and stock on.

That doesn't make much sense, why is the T-21 certed for MRifles but the ALR seems to be a better rifle and anyone can use it.

Maybe the ALR is for Bounty Hunters who want to use a rifle but didn't do the MRM path?

I was directed to the ALR for one basic reason, the number of Kryat tissues needed was less than the T-21, hence the price for a ALR was much more reasonable fora similar"punch" as the T-21 delivered.

So far, that seems to be the only viable reason.

It would be nice to see the devs make the T-21 a BFG bonus/damage-wise with some speed hinderences to keep it balanced. 'Cause dang, it is a coollookin' weapon!

On a related note, I wonder why we lost elemental damage from DXR-6b & Beserker but not Jawa? Those two rifles are pretty pointless now

One more thing about ALR that T21 does not offer, it uses a scope giving it added accuracy bonuses over the T21. It makes no sense, but the ALR is without a doubt a superior weapon to the Master cert-required T21.

If you pvp, you may wish to look into rifles that do kinetic damage. Because most ranged weapons are energy damage, just as are lightsabers, most pvp'ers go heavy on energy protection at the cost of losing kinetic protection. That makes a kinetic weapon with slightly less overall damage output than an energy weapon more desirable for pvp. One example of such a rifle is theFallan Hyper Rifle... reward item, andI believelootdrop as well, but non-craftable to this point.

I have a ALR with about 300dps and 17 accuracy and with 2.5 speed and 98 sac I love it and it only cost like 20k. I hit and ancient krayt using sniper shot at about 1473 and then the rest shots about 700 average hit points.

The loot drop version of this rifle off necrosis is Energy Damage. The only way to get the Kinetic is through the hunting ground quest and god help you. The LD-1 is the easier of the 2 to get a hold of. Same exact stats.

I USED TO take Defense Stacker 2....do you?

Uboo - how are you soloing an ancient krayt as an MRM/MR? I'm not doubting you, I just wonder how you do it, as I haven't yet been able to get the swing of Rifleman since the CU. Seems like 2 or 3 conceal shots and you're discovered and then he's down on you like a bag of hammers.
