Did you put a damage powerup on it? From what I've seen, damage powerups add to damage and they add speed, so since it's a little slower, it'll drop in DPS. Otherwise, no clue.

Anything that lowers your weapons speed kills the dps. So a weapon with 2.5 speed and a damage powerup generally loses dps although the actual damage goes up. Find an artisan that can make a damage powerup with no speed loss. Mine makes 21% damage 0.52% speed powerups which makes the weapon slower by 0.01.

I go for min-max damage, not DPS. Ive heard the min-max damage is what matters, and DPS is just for looks.

It was a scope that upped the accuracy and speed. I was actually hitting higher without the pup on as well around the 1300 mark

Min max damage is important, but its not just what counts. A high DPS is really important to. Because really high dps gun and low damage gun, will do the same damage as a high damage low dps gun, because dps, damage per second, dictates really how much damage will be done per second. So clearly a higher dps is important. If you combine that with a high damage, you have a nice gun
And no man that sounds weird about your DPS dropping. What were the stats on the pup you used? And it could be a weird glitch or some problem with your dps capping to high. Not sure. . .

The bottom line is if your using a damage powerup that lowers your DPS your using a lousy powerup!
Damage powerups won't increase your DPS as high as Speed Powerups, but good ones from a crafter who knows what they are doing will certainly increase your DPS.
I make powerups, have since nearly day 1 in this game, and I am also a long term rifleman. I not only make various powerups but I then go out and test each type/version to see what the pro's and con's are of it. I then try to stock the ones that best fit various "needs" in the game. For me, I need a bit slower firing even with 82 SAC on my rifle. So a +34.11% Damage Mod pup with a hit of +8.72% Speed mod actually works just right for me. I love having my ALR at 1,354 max damage and seeing those 4 digit numbers pop over critters heads!! Want a bit more speed but still want damage? Then get something like a +30 damage mod with a hit of 5% to speed. It's a give and take on any pup you get within a given crafters ability (resources + points). For me as a powerup maker I use the best resources to shift for powerups AND I am 14 pt artisan.....which lets me make the best powerups and powerup combinations possible. I suggest you shop around and find a new source!
Also, while DPS is not the rifle bible on how "good" a rifle is, it is a great value for comparing one rifle to another. Obviously if your waiting on your action bar for that uber 1.0 speed 800 Modified DPS rifle so you can fire it....then 800 DPS is not what your able to hit (it's theoretical). Also, if your missing every 3rd shot, then your high DPS really is irrelevant also. But for a direct comparison of similar rifles the DPS helps to put everything into perspective.

Go by DPAC(Damage per Action Cost) instead of DPS. A very high DPS weapon with 100+ SAC just means you'll be out of action faster.

Wrong. DPS takes into account min damage, and so far no one has discovered why min damage is listed as it does not effect anything. Also, DPS does not take SAC into account, as a high DPS/high SAC is usually worse than a mid DPS/mid-low SAC.

Im sorry, I dont think im wrong as that Is what the game tutorial tells us about DPS and Damage. But whatever floats ur boat dude. And you are contradicting yourself, you just said that DPS uses min damage but you said min damage isnt used for anything.

Yes, min dmg is used in the calculation of the DPS, and that seems to be the sole purpose. The damage done is not random in any way, only multiples of max dmg. Only thing min dmg might be used for is determing slicing %s or powerup %s. Even if this is true, including it in a calc on dmg is worthless if it is never factored in during combat. And why would the game tutorial be correct? It's broke, after all.

I believe the game tutorial is wrong. DPS for the most part is meaningless because it does not take in account the cyclic time of your specials which is considerably slower then your modified speed at the master level. Here's why (keep in mind the numbers used are examples only)
DPS is based off of the weapon's speed and it's damage. I'm not sure if it uses max damage per unit time or average damage per unit time but it's really irrellivant. Say you have a rifle with a max damage of 1000pts and a modified speed of 1sec. Now say your specials timer cycles at an average of every 2 seconds. Your rifle is capable of doing 2000pts of damage in 2 seconds but because your specials only cycle once you only get 1 shot off so in acutality you are only doing 1000pts damage every 2 seconds. So even though your rifle is capable of 1000dps you can only do 500dps due to your specials timers.
