Thread: Rifles Speed Cap How to?

I've been using Rem's SWG Weapon Damage Calculator to view speedcap and such at Master Rifleman... thus far I am thuroughly stumped...

Unless I get a gun shooting at a 3 speed, when I hit Master Rifleman and cap at 90 speed, I will never hit the 1.0 speed cap on Strafe 2.

So I am assuming that many of you also go Marksmen, although not an option for me being as though I am also Combat Medic, so here in lies the question of how do you do it?

I am assuming that many of you probably shell out the cash for speed tapes, althoguh seeing the going rate for those suckers, it may be a ways off before I am actually able to buy one.

If I take an unsliced 7.4 speed t21 (yes i know its crap) i'm just using it for an example...

The best I could hope for at Master Rifleman would be Strafe 2 at a 2.6 delay, doing about 509 dmg/sec, although Flush2/Startle2/Headshot3 would all out damage Strafe 2, being as though they fire a bit faster.

Now if I get a t21 and Speed Slice it, although this seems to go against what I read on these forums, since most seem to preach getting damage slices once you reach master, I could then attempt to better approach the speed cap, but I still fall about .5 short of hitting the speedcap of Strafe 2.

So... any Master Rifleman out there, I would love to hear some of your theories and strategies for what weapons/shots to use, what speed I should be looking for on my weapons, and the most important one of all, how on earth do you hit the speedcap on strafe 2 without going nuts with skilltapes? and if Skilltapes are a requirement, where should I consider hunting to increase my odds of finding one?

Thanks.

you don't "cap" 90 speed.

I have 97 speed, that's because I have master marksman, and 2 +1 attachments.

The best way to deal tons of damage as a Master Rifleman is to use SS2 with a damage-sliced T-21. To accomplish this, you will need around +97 Rifle speed. So you'll need +7 more than you get at MR. The easiest way to get there is to get Master Marksman (+5 Rifle speed) and 1 +2 speed tape or 2 +1 tapes.

The smaller the number on the tape, the less expensive it should be. The +1s should be fairly affordable- around 10k would be my guess on Eclipse. They can be looted, but normally from high-level mobs. I got a +5 rifle speed tape from a friend who looted it from a Darktrooper in the base on Naboo. When looting though, there are tons of possible mods that a tape/plate could have. The easiest way to be sure you get one with Rifle speed mods is to buy one. Check your local Galaxy Trade forums and you shouldn't have to wait long before finding one.

The problem with getting MM is that it costs skill points. If you can at all afford to buy a +7 tape (or multiple ones that add up to +7) I highly recommend doing so. When placing the SEAs into clothing, keep in mind what decays and what does not and that, for now, only one type of tape will work on the same piece of clothing. Ubese shirts and Mabari belts are good choices for tapes as they are currently unaffected by decay due to their lack of a condition rating. Just be sure to only put one rifle speed tape into each of them. This is another reason why it's good to get tapes with as high of a +X as you can.

I hope that helps you out for now.

Best of luck- the difference between MR and MR+tapes is huge and I'm sure you'll love it!

Ahhh...

So if I have several smaller bonuses to Rifle Speed like +1 / +2 and such, spread through several items of clothing, then I won't have any prob getting a combined total of +7?

Also...

You had mentioned Ubese Shirts (I just ordered a full ubese set, so I should have this) as well as Mabari belts... are their any other good clothing/armor peices that are good for putting skill tapes in?

And... How long will a skill tape last? I assume as long as the article of clothing remains in tact?

As far as I know, Ubese shirts don't come standard with the normal set of armor from most ASs. Make sure you ask specifically for an Ubese shirt (it goes under the Ubese vest and has no protection value to speak of)

And... How long will a skill tape last? I assume as long as the article of clothing remains in tact? Right again

EDIT: As far as other clothes that don't decay, I cannot think of any off the top of my head. Find a nice Tailor or AS and they should be able to help you out

Regarding non-decay items. Currently, skill mods on an item at 0% condition still work. But, after Publish 11 I've heard they will no longer work. Those of us with mods in clothing now nearing 0% will be sadly disappointed when that happens. Items that don't decay include shirts and belts and mabari belts. These items are excellent for placing skill tapes in. Beware that belts go in the same slot as PSG's.

Cheers,

Rifle speed tapes are very high in demand. You have to be quick if you plan on buying one. If you see one in the trade forum with a buyout, you'll probably need to buy it out. Every day there's a new rifleman posting that he's looking for speed tapes.

It seems that all riflemen are looking for speed tapes.

why +97? why not +95 or +99 or+125 (I come from the Doctor forms and to get good buffs you need +125 wound treatment)

Really depends on the kind of tape. I can understand if rifle tapes have gone up in value after the increase in Riflemen, but the +1sused to go for around 10k...

heh the price of anything rifle related is seriously inflated on eclipse, and its mainly due to every tom and harry picking up rifleman for various reasons, mostly to pvp and kill krayts etc. Zer0 is spot on with the price, and i have seen +1's going for over a million credits. i only have 94 speed and thats when im wearing my encum sliced comp. 92 when wearing reg clothes. why am i not capped? im not going to spend millions for 1 tape, ill just keep looting and searching till i find that elusive +5 tape greed kills imo.

That's pathetic. I bought a +12 rifle speed/+16 CM effectiveness tape for around 2M just before the FotMs got to us. If I get any +1 rifle tapes, I'll give them to aspiring Riflemen for free. This inflation is garbage
