I seem to have a difficult time using rifleman skills because they use too much mind. I can only shoot headshot2 maybe 3-4 times before my mind is almost drained. I use brandy, but it doesn't seem to help much. Is there a way to overcome this?

stat migrate to max focus and get the other two decently high, then either get musician buffs or use various food/drink/spice to get focus above 1200, which is about where everything costs 0.

What are the encumberances of your armor (if any) and the HAM cost of your rifle? You may need to enhance yourself even more. For example if I'm wearing armor and want to use any specials I need to take 2 brandies)400+ each)and a canape(600+). If I take a second canape then my HAM bar won't move at all. I think you need like 1300 focus or something to be able to spam specials. Check out what your focus is at when you are using these specials.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check on those stats next time I log in, which should be fairly soon. Just a few other questions:

1) Canape works just the same as brandy then? (I've never seen it before that's why I ask.)

2) Is focus all that is checked when determining how much specials cost?

2) The Mind cost of your rifle is a huge factor too. As far as secondary stats, however, only Focus matters for Mind cost of your specials.

Canape only lasts about 9-10 minutes but it's only has a filling of about 30 so you can take 3 at a time if you want (over kill). It's a food so you can take it with 2 brandies. It only enhances focus and will power but as stated above, you only need focus for specials.

For me as a rifleman/heavy swordsman, while buffed I drink 2 400+ brandy, 2 400+ ahrisa, both lasts 40-45mins, and a 40%+ synthsteak and full composite, sometimes I don't wear the composite helmet to conserve willpower for faster mind regeneration.

This of course makes killing anything too easy.

ahrisa? and how can u take 2 brandys and 2 of thoose?
I take 2 400 brandys and 2 650+ canapes. Then u can wear full comp with helmet and all. And still get no costs.

Ahrisa is better than canape for pve grinding. They're usually 33% filling, 400+ focus for 40+ minutes so you can eat three at the same time which should help you overcome the ham cost if you also use brandy.

And perhaps you should check your armor. For normal mission grinding, there's no reason to use a heavy composite. Much better with an Ubese suit or a encumbrance sliced kinetic composite. For high end mobs, use efficiency sliced helmet, chest and pants but encumbrance on the rest.

Stat migration is also very important if you haven't allready done that. As a rifleman you should max your three mind stats.

Yeah I wear 75% kin Ubese for everyday use, but the setup I mentioned is for hardcore stuff like Krayts and Nightsisters, I may be mistaken and it probably is just 1 Ahrisa shot but when I max out focus every special move while buffed costs zilch without the helmet and I have an effecitveness sliced 80% kin helmet with 217 mind encumberance (also enc sliced pants).

I migrated mind on my Zabrak char, Zabraks has nice mind extension but I needed to save a little for action since I do swordsman as well.

Wow, thanks for the tips everyone. This is proving to be very helpful. I took down some stats when I was in-game, and this is where I'm at:

My Stats

My T21 rifle has a 106 mind cost, which I'm guessing is pretty high considering my laser rifle is only 60 mind cost (for specials.) When it comes to using specials, I think it'd probably be best to switch to the laser rifle.. actually, come to think about it, I don't even know why I really use the T21 - all it seems to have is better armor piercing.. it's much slower (speed 6 vs. speed 4.3) and it really doesn't outdamage the laser rifle by that much.

I'm wearing full composite armor, save two pieces which are ubese (left/right bracers) and each piece of composite has a 87 mind encumbrance. I like the idea of getting another armor set for normal missions - a full set of ubese would probably help a lot.

I've yet to find a good vendor of ahrisa on Chilastra. I found one the other night, but he was only selling crates of 25 for 100k, and I don't think I really need that much at once. I also wasn't able to find a good vendor of canape, either. Vasarian brandy however seems to be very easy to come by.

Have you maxed your mind stats? Looks like you have 400 or below in focus and willpower. Your character's race might not allow higher but try to find an Image Designer to see if it's possible.

I don't know what kind of money you have, but incase your still grinding/exping to be Master Rifleman, I think you should try to find a speed sliced T-21. There are two reasons for that. The extra armorpiercing matters a lot and the min damage of laser rifles are often very low. With a mind cost of 106 I also think that t-21 is stocked. Try to find one without stock since they have a much lower HAM cost (in exchange for lower damage).

I'm wearing full composite armor, save two pieces which are ubese (left/right bracers) and each piece of composite has a 87 mind encumbrance. I like the idea of getting another armor set for normal missions - a full set of ubese would probably help a lot.

Your armor looks pretty heavy. Try to find a 70+% Ubese suit if you can afford it. That should lower the ham cost down to below 400.

Ahrisa has around 3 uses so a crate of 25 is not too much. Once again, money could be an issue but if you think of how much more effective you'll become (and therefor make more money on missions) I'd say you should buy it if you can afford it.

Brandy is what mosts chefs make because it's a sure seller. Try to find a chef with a bigger stock and shop there to support his/her efforts in making everything a chef can make.

Good luck to you!

Akinoor - thank you for the detailed post. I'm not too loaded, but I can get money when I need it, so buying the above items shouldn't be too much of a problem. I just want to make sure I'm getting a good deal on things before I buy them. I'll have to start looking around for some ubese armor, as you're right, this composite I'm wearing is just a bit too heavy for sniping. I was debating just trying ahrisa + brandy and taking my helmet off, but I really don't like the idea of leaving my head open for attack (and since my armor is so heavy, I can't put the pieces on without full buffs and muon gold, so no hot swapping of my helmet during combat would be possible - and actually, I don't know if it is even possible in the first place!)

On the money issue, I was wondering if any of you had an idea as to a decent price for ahrisa and canape? I typically seem to find crates of 25 are around 100k, and I think that's a little steep, but maybe it's just me. 3 uses per item is also not so great on the ahrisa, how many uses does the canape have?
