Thread: Rifleman overrated!!

I don't understand all you nerfers, riflemen, even at master level, are by no mean 'uber'.

I finally made rifleman a few days ago and started to duel people for fun. First, I am not able to fire my specials at cap speed, most of my shots fires at 2~3 sec. with a 7.8 speed T21, which is normal for a high power T21. I don't know what guys are talking about when you say we can spam HS3 or StrafeShot2 at cap speed.

I don't run around all day with buff on, I carry brandy and muon with me but I don't keep myself high at all time. I don't wear armor cuz without buff, my health and action are just too low. So anyone can walk up to me (and many did), KD me and kill me easily. It's true we can deal a lot of damage but we can't take any damage. If I want to become uber, I have to master marksman, and dab into fencer or TKA to be competitive in PVP.

So for those who are uber rifleman, what's more important in PvP? Range defense? Melee defense or dodge?

See, the only reason rifleman hasn't been nerfed is that since it's the FotM, all the nimrods who are looking for god mode pick up the class, even though they don't have a CLUE about how to play... Spend a little more time on it, learn how to properly play rifleman in PvP. We're really damn good.

being an idiot is not a good argument for Rifleman being overrated.....uses some common sense...armor...buffs...master status, then comeback and try...try to tell me that rifleman are overrated...They just recieved a blast damage rifle, that pretty much makes commandoes obsolete...they hit mind...have the second best def stats in the game...ect. The most powerful pvp templates in the game are master rifle/tk and master rifle/combat medic. This post should be deleted.

yeah I have to agree, when compareing professions, you need to compare apples to apples. If you pvp unarmored and unbuffed then you are gonna get flatened no matter what profession you are.

On a small tangent though, pvp is only a VERYsmall aspect of the game, and should hold only a small amount of weight when determining a professions power and wether it should be nerfed or not.

Also, sometimes I get the impression that everybody talks about pvp in the contexts of tournaments where everybody has equal stuff and there are no suprises. Walk around overt in the game of starwars and you will find that a rifleman can get dbed just as easily as anyother profession. I have beaten a master rifleman as a master fencer. I have also been beat by a pikeman.PVP tournaments are lame anyways.

Ummmm, before u guys start to flame, think about what you are flaming about... ....

If you have read my posts before, you KNOW I am not a nerfer. I decided to play rifleman before it was considered to be uber.

You can't realisticly be buffed and high at all time, I am not a PvP player, the only time I PvP is when I come back to city when I have a TEF for doing faction missions. I don't need buff for level 32 mission and I am not going to waste money on buff every time I play. I usually play about and hour each setting (one of the reasons that my progression is slow) and it's a waste of money to spend 10K just for stuff like that.

I am your ultimate type of 'average' player, I don't grind, I don't calculate how to get the highest template and get an uber character.

All I am trying to say was, Rifleman, by itself, is not uber like most people make it out to be. We can be killed if you play the right card, we too have to dab into other profession to be uber.

Gee people, triggerhappy because wehave been playing rifleman for too long?

Just because YOU don't want to buy nice armor, and some nice brandy, and get buffs, doesn't mean anything. Even unbuffed and unarmored in PvE, we can do damn well with some good brandy, and 1 kiwik clusjo swirl, and 1 won won. Heck of a lot easier time than I have with my BH, I'll tell you that much. Face it, you just aren't good at this game.

So what makes you think you can give an opinion on the class if you just plain stink at playing it? I don't evaluate my worth as a person by how well I do in a game either, but I also don't venture to give my opinion when it isn't worth anything in the situation...

Oh, and by the by, even an average player can figure out how to go to a chef's shop, buy a few things, and do well.

dude, I am amaster riflemanand if you read my post, you would know I keep muon and brandy on me. I kill people in PvP all the time(just yesterday, i took down a master comando), I just don't 'own' everybody i fight against. I don't have any problem with PvE at all (you should know if you read my post), my comment was on PvP only and so far, i don't see anything you have said so far that invalidates my points. My points are, rifleman is not as uber as most people think it is and we should not be nerfed. But since you didn't bother to read my post before you decided to flame me, i really don't think you care about anything other people said.

Wait wait wait... So you're saying that because you don't use buffs and armor, don't min/max, you can beat most average people, but have trouble against those who DO use buffs/armor, and DO min/max? What exactly is the point of your post again? I did read your post. Rifleman with an average player is moderately above average. Rifleman with a really GOOD player is ludicrously overpowered. Perhaps the combat balance will address this, as it's in part due to design flaws (we have the 2 weaknesses, stun damage and mind damage), but that's not the discussion.

Welcome aboard Edine - I've been a rifleman from day one through the the thick and thin of it.

You will hear all kinds of remarks but the way to tell if they know what they are talking about is simple.

"Face it, you just aren't good at this game."

When you see this it means they are playing to WIN. Its all about being uber and if you don't play that way then the game was not designed for you. Its their game and everyone else is a loser.

Its also why the dev's added an ignore button.

Thanks for your attention.

Rifleman get more offensive mods and abilities for their 92 pointsthan any other combat profession. 160 Accuracy, 90 speed, armor peircing stun damage, heavy armor peircing, mind damage, superior damage weapons etc.

My Wookie has been a rifleman since way back when and always will be, it fits his roleplay. I doNOT play the class to be uber FOTM, originally I played because I thought bowcasters were cool.

MyHuman is a Master Bounty Hunter, so I have played both sides in PvP. If you think the Rifleman is currently in an equal or overrated state, you definatly need to take your 'I Win' blinders off. Franky I am sick of getting slaughted by rifleman guarding my Jedi bounties, happened four times, then they flex at me as if they accomplished something, lol. Why attack the Jedi when rifleman are around you ask? Well because that is the only time they will show up on the boards, when they do stuff in front of their friends and I like the solo aspects of SWG it fits my BH's role. Very very rarely will you get a bounty for a lone Jedi and if you do, about ten other BH's are hot on his trail. I have also fought alot of rifleman in PvP, Duels etc, and win only if they don't know what they are doing.

I consider myself very good at PvP I have alot of practice, buff, know which foods andarmor to wear vs. weapons. Time will tell I guess, I am positive things will become more balanced then they are as Mr. Funsocks stated in the combat balance if it ever comes.

Sorry needed to vent.
