Thread: Klawnega, Please repond to this post on defense caps
While im not blaming the correspondants exactly because they may not truely have knowm, the fact that the posted the information without a 100% knowledge that it is correct is upsetting.
Id like to first post the thread to the link where the rifleman fcorrespondant posted that the hardcap for Block,Dodge,Counterattack, Melee/ranged defense is 125.
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=rifleman&message.id=53557
In this discussion we know that the hardcap was 125 due to the stratics chat. But the Correspondant also said that the cap would be exceeded by Skill Tapes and Armor Attachments upto +25. Which would allot for +150 Melee/Ranged with Inert skill and Tapes alone
He also said that Dodge/Block/Counterattack would stack between professions. With would also allow with the proper stack and Skill tapes to be +150
These are some notes from Thunderheart
Some things to concider, He said in one of his posts that SEA's count towards the 125 cap, but food, squadleader mods do not. He also said that Dodge from different skill trees do not stack with each other.
So basically according to Thunderheart, 125 is the cap with skill attachments. +25 in Attachemnts will get you upto the +125 cap, but not past it. If this is true the template i created to cap out my defense since I have +25 ranged/mellee defense tapes is worhtless.
And basically for example, you cant stack Fencer Dodge with Pitsoleer Dodge anymore.
This is where I think Im upset, since I grinded an entire template on the information from the forum to find out its wrong.
With all said
125 is the Cap on Block/Dodge/Counterattack
Skill Tapes do not allow you to pass the cap
Trandoshans inert Melee Defense does not allow you to pass the cap
Food/drink will allow you to pass the cap
Squad Leader Bonuses will allow you to pass the cap
Im guessing City Stronghold will.
I would like a definite answer on Skill Tapes and Whether Block/Dodge/Counterattack will stack between professions.
I have two Completly different answers on the same question from the Rifleman and Fencer Correspondant and opossed to Thunderheart.
Thank You
Gdog: The response you want will only occur after some time. Think of it this way, Sony is the chef, ThunderIDontHaveAClue is the waiter, Correspondents are the Food Critics, and we eat at the restaurant.
The chefs want to try someting new in their "CanofWhoopAss" Stew, so they stir in a pinch of "Defense Mod Spice." They are done. Their work is over. They don't have a frigging clue how it is going to effect the final outcome. Now ThunderIDontHaveAClue has been hanging out in the kitchen hearing the chefs talk about what they HOPE will occur based on previous mixes of recipe code and the compatibility of X working with Y, and blah blah blah, and he is out in the restaurant talking up a storm to the customers trying to sell this new dish, though the customers soon realize this clown dont even eat at the resaurant and has very little knowledge about what is being served.
The customers and food critics dig into the new dish. The food critic writes up his findings based on what he tastes, sees, feels, thinks, and whether he got lucky after the meal, and we the customers decide if we have gotten what was advertised.
Then the real fun starts
Players write to the food critic who has wrote up his findings on the meal. The food critics take this multitude of responses and compares it to his findings, correlating, comparing, condensing, and then presents this information to ThunderIDontHaveAClue (I find it interesting that the highest communication line we can get is with the waiter:tongue
who immediatly runs back to the kitchen porclaiming, "They said it tasts like poo poo!"
Then we spend the next 6 months trying to straighten the whole thing out with the restaurant because it is where we eat. Mean while, the chefs are cranking out a dozen of these tasty treats every few weeks. And the poo poo just keeps piling up.
So, the answer to your question can only be obtained by continuous reading of the forums and judging the validity of the posts by fellow players and the food critic.
Thisis of course my humble opinion on the restaurant we eat in is being run
Comparing everything that way, I would though like a post from Klawnega on this
Thanks, Ailuu.... I needed that!
....so is the tip added in automatically?

Leadhead101 wrote:I dont know why all this importance is placed on defense anyways. I am close to the cap and my melee/ranged defenses doesnt prevent the Gleaming lantern bird from hiting me 9 times in a row. It is good for lower stuff, but if you are at the cap, takin on rancors and nightsisters and all that other stuff everyone does isnt gonna help you.And I dont mean to sound sarcastic, I really do wanna know what the deal is. The defenses really dont seem to do anything once the creatures get powerfull enough. In pvp, it doesnt seem to help you evade **edit**?
IT makes all the difference in the world.
For Example
I cap out my Defenses at 125 Melee/Range/Dodge.
I then have +25 Melee/Ranged/Dodge Skill Tapes
So now I have 150 Melee/Ranged/Dodge
I then take +25 Melee Defense Food
I then Take +50 Dodge Food
Ontop of that Im a transdoshan and get +10 Melee Defense
Ontop of that I have an alt Master Squad Leader and get +40 Melee/Ranged Defense
And lets say Im defending my town which is a stronghold
Add up the numbers, it makes for stacking just like before the patch.
It makes a BIG difference, and the questions need to be answered
Since you have all that stuff I think the only reliable and fast, answers you'll get is to test it out yourself.
I certainly havent heard of anyone being able to stack as well since the patch, With 132 ranged (yes capped at 125) I get missed alot by npc's but havent noticed how it has effected PVP since I got most of mine after the patch.
Since they put in an arbitrary cap I Bet your lucky if any combination of defense goes over the equivalent of 125. IE ranged plus dodge or whatever prolly same as 125 ranged was before.

Good thing sude or our Squad Leader Defenses would be useless![]()
What's a Squad Leader?
Nah I am joking with you, so this means that even if you are at cap then you get up too 150 ranged/melee defense with skill tapes cool.
