Ranged DB for Ranged Professions!

It is as unreasonable to ask a ranged combat profession to run up to someone for the DB as it is to ask a melee combat profession to run to 64 meters of range to DB someone.

Melee should not have this PvP advantage.

This is something we can keep in mind, though theres an addition now with Deathblows, they require a setup time..plus they can be disrupted. Ranged offcourse has the advantage now with disrupting a deathblow, while melee has it with delivering it. How exactly this plays out...we'll see during testing.

Then again, HOW exactly a deathblow is disrupted right now, isnt revealed as of yet.

The first phase will be testing the novice experience, but even there I'de like to see how this works out in PVP. Participate in duels, or enable special forces while in this vulnerable stage. Write down observations, bugs, issues...even though its not really intended for pvp in novice levels. But for the most part, first It's in the higher phase where we'll be truelly testing all aspects of pvp combat. In the Elite level profession PVP testing, I'de like to establish 3 different PVP aspects to a rifleman, wich will be tested, 3 pure general roles.

Solo Combatant

Supportive Combatant

Allrounder

Remember while Long range damage dealing is the role of a rifleman with its profession standing alone, combined with other professions, your combat effectivity, and combat role gets more diverse. It's good to distinct profession pride between, survivability, and combat roles....so keep that in mind. More details following, lets get started first.

My ingame name is Nexxx. Perhaps we should all meet in like Anchorhead or something for some dueling??

The first night I dueled a guy. I was CR 5 (from having marksman 3xx1) and he was CR 2. I assumed I would own him, but the low DPS on the DLT20a barely made any difference with the health regen level of my opponent. Then, he healed himself, and I might as well have not been shooting him at all. He, however, spammed grenades at me and took me down to 1/4 health before I /enddueled.

It reminded me of novice brawler duels at launch, when two people would stand there beating each other but missing 90% of the time and hitting for 5 damage

As a rifleman, i have never been able to participate in PvP. melee warriors have an outragieous advantage in PvP duels in my opinion.

All the more reason to try it in CU and see whether that is still the case. Think through the tactics avilable to you to try and limit the other player's options, and maximum your effectiveness. If you still feel that a ranged player is at a disadvantage, provied that feedback to the Devs and this thread.

Aight folks did some testing on TC4-Bria CU

Taking cover if tres cool. It breaks at 64m, as of 4am pst last night, but the dot literally drops off the radar.
I, as a TKM/BH, was getting hit for approx 2000+ damage by my buddy's T-21. I screwed up my respec, so no rifle BH till tonight.

On lesser attacks, the average damage was about 800ish.
Snare shots were lasting about 3-5 seconds, I don't remember testing headshot or not.

As soon as I can respec, I'll run a full gauntlet of Rifle PvP tests and let ya know who she works.
EDIT: Oh, sabre block seems like a minimal concern now. Be more worried about teh 1500+ damage they will hit you for.

Now with the Frogs giving elite skills, I was able to test some Pvp more efficiently.

These are my results and impressions in a small afternoon of friendly duels, and defending Bestine from rebels.

Template:

Master Rifleman

Master Carbineer

Commando Explosives, and Rocketlauncher line

Test 1.

Type of enemy:

Ranged

Type of Rifleman:

Allrounder

Type of Enviroment:

Urban Combat

- Outside (Bestine, Tatooine)

Type of Tactics:

Defence (and persuit)

Ifound outduring the fight, that the abilities of just a rifleman, will not be an effective person to engage in a one on one battle, as having limited crowdcontrol...you'll spend more time trying to recover from them. Though all snaring effects on yourself will pose of little threat against ranged opponents...as having a clear advantage with range.

The Damage capabilities you have, wich are very usefull during a 1 vs 1 encounter, but they wont last long as an effective measure if you're disrupted. Kneecapshot is a very good shot to use when in persuit.

I had to rely on carbineer skills to cripple the opponent, so I could continiu the barrage of damage dealing. The opponent I was facing, was according to his skills..more oriented in Solo PvP.....and he had agood advantage in the fight.

This was my first pvp rebel encounter with the new skillsets. Familiarising yourself with all new skills will really help increasing your effecitivety...friendly dueling is a good way to do so.
