Thread: Speed Cap on rifles after the CU Please help.

I was just wondering..., currently at 97 speed one can cap most if not all rifles at any speed...

With the CU changes, I wonder if the cap will be affected..., for sure new rifles will be introduced, aswell as most if not all the old converted into new types... so this probably means, new speed for all.

I'm having a couple of problems figuring out if I should spend some of the little money I have on +10 speed tapes to end up with over 100 speed on rifles.. I wonder if such is necessary for on the CU a master rifles to survive in good conditions and still be of good use to a group..

Or if simply everything at 97 will still cap, and honestly I shouldn't waist the money on such large number speed tapes..

I'm looking for your opinion on this.., I have been rifles from day one and honestly did not wish to leave them... henceforth.. I am not puzzled with this issue on how to continue with the speed after the CU...

All comments are appreciated.

My Kind Regards.

I very much doubt you will be able to fire rifles ever 1 sec after the CU, they will proberly change what speed mods they give us in the rifle treee thus making it hard to fire every 1 sec, i dont think they us to be able to.

But nobody knows for sure.

yes.. that I was expecting..., but my question is.. there will have to be a cap at some point no ?

Even if we then fire once after only 5 seconds, there has to be some set number witch will then cap the new system.... just wondering if many think that 97 will still do as such.. or it will go way beyond the 100's speed.

Regards.

I know.. that's just why I'm gathering opinions... just wondering if it is realy whort spending 12 million for a +17 speed CA just because of the CU...

So that if estimates turn out in the negative way.. it would save me from spending almost all the money I have in something that would be of no use since the cap would remain on the 97's...

Regards.

There is no speed cap after the CU (sorry) Actually It may be that there is a cap... but it is hardcoded for each weapon. It is mentioned at one point that the speed equations have changed in the CURB overview document. Speed increases now will be on a dimishing returns bases and slow weapons are to remain slow and faster weapons will be faster. Yes that does mean we will not be shooting at once per sec as our weapons are the slowest (next to commando) in the galaxies.

mmm..so they will just take the rifleman speed mod off the template ?

I recon if so the system will work based on certifications and on every weapon speed that exists.., meaning..., we are now dependant on the weapon's capabilities... witch will make it impossible to get max speed possible on all weapons based on just one single mod correct ?

In the end so..., wasting money on speed tapes now is just absurd for they will be of no use ?

I almost forgot.. if such comes to happen... what will the FS ranged speed be for then ?

Regards.

1st (plese use a different or larger font)

No, speed tapes will probably still effect the overall firing rate.

The NDA is still in effect so it is not allowing me to say something about this as they have not mentioned it yet. Lets just say player skill set will supersed tapes but tapes will still be useful - just not as useful.

No it shouldn't. There is no basis for saying that Rifles fire slower than other weapons. The mechanics are the same within the weapons. Also the T21 is a machine gun. I've never heard of a machine gun that fires slower than a semi auto pistol. Have you?

Time to fire represents aim time. Not a mechanical limit on weapons. And aim time is related to range to target, not the weapon in hand.

Scopes take longer to aim because of viewing the target and lining it up. Along withit being harder to track a swift moving target at close range. However at the ranges we are talking about in SWG (64m) you wouldn't want to put a scope on the weapon. The ranges are to close for it to be worth it.

And for very close targets you don't aim. You point and shoot. And you don't do that with just Rifles. You'd do that with Carbines or Pistols if the target is very close.

well, Mr. Waste already blew holes all in your little statement, but i'll just ask you this:

How many swings of a Sword do you think you can pull off, in the time it takes me to empty a 30round magazine in a SemiAuto Rifle?

am I the only one who remembers playing eq and waiting for my backstab button to pop back up? Thats what we are getting. you use your special, you wait for the special to be available again, in the mean time you use another special that is in a different group. There is no "speed" to speak of. What the increased speed skills in PROBABLY going to do is decrease your prep and cool down time. You guys gotta stop thinking in the current mechanics and start thinking in the new ones. Not sure how they work? Go try out one of SOE's other games.

The new combat is gonna be all about timing and crowd control.. just like every other MMORPG out there.
