Thread: Tusken King Rifle = Only kinetic damage rifle?

Ok I have the tusken king's rifle and I was on my way to turn it in for the quest reward... when I noticed that it's stats were not the same as the standard tusken rifle it resembles. Instead of energy damage it does kinetic, and I dont recall ever seeing any kinetic damage type rifles in game before so I decided to hold onto it. The speed is horrible 14.0, but if you are speed capped, as most master riflemen with a couple skill tapes are, it shouldnt matter anyway. Wound 29% and max damage in the mid 200s

Any one have an opinion on if this weapon's usefullness in a Master rifleman's arsenal? I seem to remember I had trouble killing some NS when I was a MR with conceal shot as I didnt have any kinetic damage rifles. Plus when the condition on it breaks down I can always turn it in for the Krayt skull =)

You have a prized weapon there. The normal Tusken rifles used to be kinetic, then they were changed to energy. I would hold onto it. Definitely.

The Tuskan King's weapon has been known about for a long time, it was not changed to energy at the same time as the tuskan rifle was - it basically is a pre-nerf tuskan rifle. The problem with it is that you are uncert'ed to use it so it does like 1/100 of base damage - but it will allow rifleman specials . Kinda neat to have but not very rare and not very useful. It is in the same category as the beam rifle. You will find that if you are a marksmen that the only kinetic pistol does more damage (and it is pathetic in its own right)

The devs have stated that kinetic damage is a reserved damage type for melee combatants so don't expect them to ever ever certify the tuskan king rifle.

That was a fairly stupid idea that someone had.

Projectile weapons do kinetic damage. The tusken rifle is a projectile weapon, therefore it should do kinetic damage. Period.

Maybe this will get changed in the combat nerf... er rebalance...

it may be stupid but it has created a need for rifleman to have a meleer or a melee profession along side her normal rifle template

which is what I assume they intended. (maybe not so stupid- otherwise we could solo all content in the game)

Nah seems more like it was just a stuipid idea. I mean my god TKMs are already so incredibly overpowering. They can take on almost any creature solo if buffed and they don;t even need a Doctor or Medic skill to heal. Heck they don;t even need a Stimbot...

Sorry to say but thats BS. TKM's are far from overpowered. They only have one damage type and its one of the most commonly resisted in the game. TKM is ruled out of high end content for damage. All they can do is tank the hell out of something. Ok sure you can probably solo a AKD, probably after spending 2 hours of doing 10 damage points to it.

Plus if they made Tusken Rifle kinetic (which makes sense) it would spark a chance for everyone to cry nerf, regardless of the fact that kinetic is hardly a very viable damage type.

honestly, the reason we want it to be kenetic again isnt just that it would make sense, but there are some nightsisters that we cant even damage because they have 100% resists to all of our damage types, and they conviently have very low resists to kenetic, and a few with low blast resists, now, im not asking for blast damage, because well, then rifleman would be better at turret/atst destruction then commandos, and well, that would be game breaking. all we want, is to be able to damage these high end ns without taking up a melee profession.

I know and so do the devs... but the damage base on striker is barely better then going hand 2 hand without tk or any melee training

I am getting ready to drop my TKM for a while and go back to rifleman. As a Master Sword, I generally have PVE pretty easy.

TKM cannot solo an elder, they have 100% resist to kinetic. On Krayts and SBD, and GDK and the other high end content, all we can do is tank, unless we have another melee profession to go on. Unless, like somebody said and we want the fight to take about 2 hours, waste armor and VK, and go through brandy and stims.

I just want to try something new again, and I still have all my Rifleman weapons(including a really nasty Laser rifle with over 500max damage, Quenkers beware!!!)
