Thread: PVP Rileman Doesn't seem Broken to me at all...
First off this is just how I handle my char.. I find on one on one I kill commandos and BHers with ease and they REALLY HATE IT TOO. becuase usually well both be incapped me but ill be incapped first and my pet or the damage i drop incaps them.. i wake up first and /snipershot em ![]()
To begin I'm a rifleman 4/3/1/2 Creature Handler 4/4/4/4 Marksman 4/0/0/4 and medic 2/0/4/0
And I special order all my guns... I get them experimented in this order: HAM, Damage then Speed.
Next youll need the Muon Gold
and last a pack of powerup crates. I usually get speed 30% mind 15% or mind 30% speed 15%.
Of coursedont forgetslicing em. either way works speed or damage (just make sure a master does it)
Now heres what I do a bit differently I walk in with my handy spraystick equipped (there is no stutterstep associated with it which is why its always my travelling gun. then i hit F1
F1 starts my macro Now:
f2spraystick
f3 my dlt20a
f4 las rifle
f5 flurryshot
f6 suppression fire
f7 mindshot1
f8 mindshot 2
f9 headhost3
the macro goes like this:
/say attack
/uiaction ToolbarSlot04; flurry
/uiaction ToolbarSlot05; suppression (hopefully they will fall)
/uiaction ToolbarSlot02; Dlt20a equipped I take a stutterstep
/uiactionToolbarSlot 06; mindshot1
/uiaction ToolbarSlot07; mindshot2
/uiaction ToolbarSlot03; get the las equipped
/uiaction ToolbarSlot08; Headshot3 one time
/uiaction ToolbarSlot01; back to the spray and im moving again no stutter steps to slow me down.
For the info I use a Bioenged gurrreck with maxed damage. Since its a cat speed it has acre rockets attacked to its feet and cant be outrun by ANYTHING
usually by the time my macro is done they are running away or on the gurreck trying to get it off them. So far its proven VERY effective in PVP.
For one on one duels I use 30% mind/15% max damage powerups on my 2nd las rifle
nowfor those whosay its all the gurreck.. but Ive had duels where i didnt use the pets and I win those one on one easy and faction fights where my pet was far away after a clone and im getting TEF'd (unless they are bhers or commandos, then i just pray to god and spam headshot 3 with my las after ive got them dotted, while running away) and in the non combat elite classes i win easily and usually i can handle 2 on 1 with no problems.
In some instances rifleman is an effective addition to PvP, however in most instances it is not. When they nerf rifleman again in a few days (speed nerf) your spray stick trick won't work as smoothly. I am a rifleman/MCH also and I have a 3 Storm Commandos to back me up so I have more problems with rebels running away than getting killed but sympathize with all the master riflemen who arn't CH and dont' have backup to keep the enemy from owning them.
RIfleman is'nt so bad in its current state. You will be owned by bounty hunters/commandos and creature handlers/CMS even with your tactics though. The LLC and commando weopons get a 2.5 times dmg bonus due to the melee bug meaning they will 1 shot you almost every time. The acid rifles can 1 shot you from 50 meters. If you fight another creature handler with a gurreck you will die in 1 or 2 hits. As far as combat medics go all they have to do is throw 1 mind poison (600per tick mind dot 35 min duration)at you and burstrun, you have no way to remove it.
"Next youll need the Muon Gold and last a pack of powerup crates"
Muon gold is'nt as good as people make it out to be. You only have about 6 minutes or so of combat then you are debuffed to hell and useless after the effect ends. IT debuffs your willpower by -500 and takes a chunk of yourmind pool away. You are assuming you always know when someone is going to attack you. I kill MANY people who were foolish and used muon gold and are dealing with side effects it takes them a year to regen their mind pool.
I hit master rifleman a few nights ago, it is probably one of the best classes in pvp. Speed even with a t21 is insane, I can drop people in as little as 2 shots, the only problem is HAM cost. Get a dlt20a and spam headshot, I can do 200 every second without much cost. If the target wears armor, just nab a jawa ion. Stun damage with light AP, almost same stats as a dlt20a.
The only ranged class that would have a chance in dropping a master rifleman is a BH with carbine. If you get hit by the KD/dizzy combo, you can consider it over. If you have skill points, compensate by choosing another class with dizzy/kd resists, like TKA, or basically any of the elite brawler professions.
For pve, even a novice rifleman will outdamage other classes. Get the marksman ranged support abilities and utilize them to your advantage. Warning shot enables even a novice rifleman to solo high end monsters.
For pvp before master rifleman, yeah, it blows hard. But I'd much rather be stronger in the end than on the way to the end.
If you manage to get that whole macro done without any help from a pet in PVP then you must be playing against some pretty crappy players. COmmandos should have you down in one shot easy, BH with the LLC could have you down in 3 secs or lesstaking up around 500, and Ive seen pistoleer deal a max of 500 with fanshot against me, none of your attacks can beat those, andI should know.
What give away the fact that your playing against some crappy players is that they actually WANT to PVP you with your gurreck, they cant be too bright.
I think your title should read PvP Rifleman + PET doesnt seem broken.
Its a very big factor that you have a pet, it forces opponents to break their attack on you and try to warnshot the pet away, if he keeps hit attention on you, as you said you will be the incapped one, if he turns attention to the pet, you will incap him.
Fine that this works for you, kudos you are very brave, personally I hate pets of any kind in PvP, its just not very player vs player like to me.
If you focus on the profession this board, rifleman, then I dont think you prove at valid statement, most PvP riflemen are not master creature handlers (and shouldnt be). Its like saying that you can easilysolo a pack ofKrayts as a rifleman......if you bring your at-st's.
I can see why the BH's and Commands are annoyed that you kill them, especially if they have the guts to actually be solo when they are playing, you are usingaverypowerfull cat to hunt them down, its NOT a PvP skill to say ATTACK.
I actually cant even describe how I feel about pets beeing used in PvP (faction or non faction) its skilless and cowardly, and the fact that you actually refer to it as PvP, riflemanPvP even(unless you mean player vs pet) is just plain wrong. Try hunting solo for a few days, then give us your result, personally I am in a heap of trouble the moment the first eyeshot (Blind -50% acc) hits me from 64m away, and yes I use composite armour, moun gold and every mind enhancing food in the book.
There is very little actual PvP going on in SWG, I dont hate or blame the player I blame the devs...... *sigh* I was so looking forward to Starwars like PvP and this is what they delivered ![]()
Yes I whine, yes I'm disappointed and yes, you can add a tad of bitter on top.....and a cherry.

I don't think many masters are saying we suck in PvP now. Just that we will with the proposed 3 second cap.
I'd agree with that. If any master thinks they suck in PVP, they must have no idea what they're doing. I'd much sooner run into a commando than a master rifleman in PVP.

Bounty Hunters with krayt dragon enhanced scatterpistols do 350 damage every second to your mind pool in PvP.
And it only costs action for them.
And they don't get hit for 2.5x bonus damage by pets.
I'm a 4424 rifleman, I PvP 90% of the time, mostly with the help of a doctor (and his buffs).
Doctor buffs +lack of mind healsmeans that straight pistoleers and carbineers are useless in PvP, but BH's deal more mind damage per second than we do at less cost to themselves and Commandos can waste riflemen just by using autoattack.
I don't think riflemen should be the top of the dogpile, I think PvP should be more like rock-paper-scissors. Right now it's rock-scissors. Bounty Hunters are the rock, everyone else are the scissors.
This is a sore spot with everyone, I'm sure, but it's more of a sore spot for riflemen because not only are BH's better than us, they're better than us at the one thing I picked up riflemen in order to do: mind damage.
I can take anyone but a commando. Im 50 percent with commandos. THose bastards are considered melee, and there base shots from 40 meters out hit me for 500-800. Thats a base shot, imagine what there styles would be. If I happen to be un-buffed at the time 800 one shots me in action and health pool. Im usually not un-buffed though.
