Thread: Thinking of making the switch
Well from a PvP point of view, pistoleers have a short-term advantage. When I say this, I'm mainly talking about range and mind bleeds. The only REAL PvP tactic that a pistoleer can have is running your opponent down and doing as many /fanshots ashe can beforehe gets incaped from the bleed. Pistol bleeds are useless in PvP, as are /disarmingshot1&2 (doesn't do anything but drain our own HAM), /stoppingshot is too slow, /pistolmeleedefense1&2 are nerfed yet never worked well anyways. Keep in mind that it might seem like I shoot as far as you guys, I'm not really hitting the target. Yes, in PvE I can hit for over 1k damage at 0-15m with a DX2, and 10-25m with an FWG5. But also mixed in with those high damages are 99's and 150's. 25-40m I miss about 1/10 of my shots standing and 1/3-1/2 moving. Beyond 40m I think I might be able to shoot a can off a fence.
Just remember 1 thing in PvP. You WILL kill me. All it takes is a long range mindshot and a burst run. (no clue why I just told you that
)
"Yes, in PvE I can hit for over 1k damage at 0-15m with a DX2, and 10-25m with an FWG5. But also mixed in with those high damages are 99's and 150's. 25-40m I miss about 1/10 of my shots standing and 1/3-1/2 moving."
Um, try 150-250 dmg with my best special on a Pre-nerf T-21. Now think about the fact that, with master marksman and two support lines I miss 1/3 shots prone. Remember, prone in PvP is suicide. Now think about the fact that you shoot five times as fast as me. Add to that the fact that my special moves RAPE my maxed out, unhealable, Zabraki mind pool.Add to that the uselessness of cover and suprise shot, and the -70 acuracy mod at clase range.
Don't forget about the 2.5x melee damage. I was hunting with a guy yesterday, and we finished taking out a lair. He said, "Well, that wasn't so bad." Then he saw my stat bar. "What the hell happened to YOU!"
And as for those "dreaded mind bleeds", ph43r the commandos and their ablility to light you up like a matchstick, or the bountyhunters (or is it smugglers?) that can tap off eyeshots twice as fast, and for twice the damage and half the pool cost (to a healable pool, mind you), as we can shoot Headshots.
Stick with pistoleer.
ph34r ninja-teleporting critters.
rifleman take 2.5 times melee dmg. anything that comes close to you kilsl you in one hit. when i hunt on endor things like super sliced composite armor are pointless cause mobs do so much dmg to me. its real simple, i get hit = i die.
keep that in mind.
Depends why you want rifleman.
As in affectiveness. Well, pick another profession:]
To be one of few, well, here we are.
Accuracy. Well, you will miss a lot more with rifle then with pistol.
Broken or useless lines. Hmm, think we got ya beat there. Look at our skills tree and you will see tons of shots you will never use.
Geez, just asked a question. Pistoleer is not as uber as you guys think. As far as melee, we NEED all the protection we can get. My group has an ongoing joke - as long as I'm still standing they are safe. This joke isn't because I'm "uber", it's because I'm bait. In PvE, 9 out of 10 times (with the exception of lair defense) the creature will attack the nearest entity. PistoleersARE the nearest entity and we take one hell of a beating. Supressionfire? I get beaten to a pulp before I fire off a shot. Warningshot/threatenshot? Same thing. Forget about traps...instant death if you're being chased. Pistoleers don't have the luxury of 45-64m distance to target. It runs, we fall...simple as that. If pistoleer was so great, would I even consider changing to rifleman? I hunt. I am a ranger. I have no pets. I know that pistol is no longer cutting it for high level mobs.
Oh yeah, did I mention I get no armor? I am wookie, watch me die.
"In PvE, 9 out of 10 times (with the exception of lair defense) the creature will attack the nearest entity."
critters like to change targets to the person that deals the highest oneshot damage, so let me run this scenario by you. Out hunting with my friends, and I finally hit something with my T-21. Great, not it runs over (I can't move, I had to go prone to hit it!) and hits me with 2.5x melee damage. Great, now I'm dead. Big advantage we got here.
"Pistoleers don't have the luxury of 45-64m distance to target." I've seen pistoleers tally up hit after hit from 60m while running is a circle. Don't even say you people are less acurate than us.
"If pistoleer was so great, would I even consider changing to rifleman?" You simply assumed that rifleman was better than pistoleer. I'm not saying that pistoleer is teh uber, just that it is less gimped than riflemen.
Riflemen have a joke too:
A noob was walking with a master rifleman one day when they came across a large critter. The master rifleman, deciding to show the noob some power, took the creature out in two shots. The noob turned to the rifleman and said, "Wow, how did you do that!" "What," replies the rifleman, fealing cocky, "deal out so much damage?" "No," replies the noob. "How did you turn your blue bar white?"
Bud, I didn't whine once. Everything I said here was a cold fact. I don't whine, I help you to make the most educated decision possible.
Chunky:
If you like way slower tactics go rifle.
If you like to run in and blaze the crap out of things keep pistol.
OR:
Get BH Pistol 4, then start dropping Gunfighter as you build Rifleman.
As MG / BH4 I can help rifleman well with eyeshot.
Coolest thing about Master Marksman was I was like, eww, I gotta learn rifle? Then I was like 'wait, this is pretty cool!'
