Gurks on Lok, Totons on Rori. Some Riflemen have told me these are a good break from the quenkers, if you want to do something different. Anyone ever tried these leveling Rifleman?

I never hunted the Gurks, but I have done the Tortons. The main advantage to hunting the Tortons is that they are about as easy to kill as Quenkers, give out decent xp (2500-3300 I think...but I might be wrong on that),and their missions tend to pay more. I know that by being grouped with only 3-4 people you can get 10k payoutTorton missions. I personally leveled my Rifleman almost exclusively onDantooine. When you're in a large enough solo group, you can get 6k+ payout Quenker missions. These Quenker missions (Difficulty 99, I think) will give you spawns of about 6-8 Quenkers with three spawns per lair. At roughly 3000 xp per Quenker, the numbers, in my opinion, swing toward hunting the little guys instead of the Tortons. Also, I think that you must be in a group to even get the Torton missions, where as Quenkers can be hunted even if you're alone (But keep in mind that you must bein a larger groupto get the Diff. 99 missions).

I tend to die in the solo group missions. They give you the savage Quenkers that spit acid. I've not had good luck with solo groups, so i tend to stay away from them.

The regular Quneker missions still exist; they just become much harder to find. Unless SOE nerfed these out in a recent publish, I know you can still get them because I always managed to. Most of the time I leveled, I was in fairly large solo groups and with buffs and some old composite armor a friend gave me,I was able to do the 99+ quenkers with no problem. As I said, unless SOE took the normal Quenker missions away from solo groups, I know they can still be found in solo groups.

Of course, if you really want a change of pace; head to Fort Tusken and hope that it isn't camped. If you get in a decent group, you can get pretty good xp here, and even a chance at some Tusken loot. Whenever I needed a break from Dantooine, I usually hit the Fort.

I used to kill quenkers for 3k exp. Now I kill them for about 2.5k. And a friend said they were only getting 2k per quenker using just regular attacks, no bleeds or anything, which was really weird. Alas look for "a quenker lair" missions, not savage or relic or any of those, just regular "quenker" missions, they don't poison, they don't really do much at all but bite your ankles. I didn't have trouble finding them when I was looking, Graul Maulers were a bit harder to find though.

They are a bit harder to pull up on the mission terminal with a large solo group, but small ones usually will pull them up. THere is two types of solo groups usually, those looking for mokks and jantas and those looking for quenkers.

You can find Tortuns on Talus too. I liked hunting them there since a number of other MOB's in the area like Kima's and the Gruf's will attack them too if you get into a bind. Just get the Tortun to follow you and go thru some Kima's and you got yourself a tank.

What do the Tortuns give in XP per kill?

I've done quite a bit of Gurk hunting in the past, and they're one of my favorite things to grind on. Gurk missions though, on a whole, are a bit tougher than doing Quenker missions. The Gurks have higher resists and HAM ranging into the 8K-9K range with an average XP per kill of around 3500. The good thing about their lairs is that they spawn 3-4 gurks per spawn, and no babies so you will generally net more per lair than with Quenkers, but you will take longer to finish the lair. I've had great luck doing my initial grinding on Quenkers and then moving to Gurks once I'm about halfway through an elite combat profession.

The hardest thing I find with hunting Gurks is that the lair will spawn several types, each with varying vulnerabilities so you'll have to switch out weapons based on which one you are targetting. I do believe they are all stun vulnerable, so a good jawa ion rifle might be the way to go, with a speed sliced T-21 and DXR-6b. With Energy, Acid and Stun damage types, you should be able to move through the lairs quickly.

The best thing I find about hunting Gurks, is that if you get into a good solo group, you can pull missions with Feral Gurks. Get 2 at the initial spawn, and you have a 50% chance of getting a Gurk King to spawn at the end of the mission. Nothing like picking up a few RIS components while doing your grind.

I leveled almost exclusivly on Gurks. I had a droid tank, and I just flushingshot2-ed whole nests at a time.

I do Tortons on Talus when Dantooine starts acting up with more lag then normal. They give pretty good XP.
