Thread: Cannot use Rifle skills with Heavy Acid Rifle!? What gives?!

This is going to affect an extremely small percentage of you, but, it seems that you cannot do rifle skills with a Heavy Acid Rifle (Commando Heavy Weapon). I don't much see this as being fair, since other multi-classers can use cross class weapons. Such as, a BH/Pistoleer can use Pistoleer pistols with BH skills. I'm going to have to check on BH skills with the Commando's Launcer Pistol, but I'm pretty sure they go cross class as well. Why then, are Rifleman/Commando limited to prof skills for prof cert. weapons?!
Not fairs, I tell ya... I so wanted to do a 4k head shot with a good Heavy Acid Rifle...

Its a heavy weapon, not technically a rifle. It has its own skills and skill mods.

I agree with IdiotFool, but according to the game, the Heavy Acid RIFLE is actually a Heavy Weapon. Oddly enough, I think you can use the Marksman specials with this weapon as well as with the Flamethrower. The Marksman specials alwaysseemed to workfor me when I was doing the Commando thing. Just one of the many reasons why the Combat system needs to be redone.

Your reason of wanting to headshots for 4k dmg are exactly why you can't use a heavy acid rifle with rifleman specials.

Trust me when i say you're not missing much. The Heavy Acid Rifle is a big waste of hard disk space.

It's also more of a Commando issue, since the cert is with them.

Pick up the beam rifle, the rifle specials work with it, lol.

Launcher pistol does not have its own mods or specials. There is no launcher pistol tree in commando. You can use any pistol special with it. And it's speed, accuracy and all that are based on whatever your pistol speed/accuracy are. Heavy acid rifle has its own mods, and its own specials. Both are gained by doing the HAR tree in commando. That's why you can't use rifle specials or have rifle speed bonus/accuracy bonus. The mod is Heavy acid rifle speed and HAR accuracy, while rifles are just rifle speed, rifle accuracy. Launcher pistol is a pistol, and is based on speed mods. This is why it doesn't work in game. Whether you think it should or not is another issue, but this is why it doesn't.

Uh, no, it's a GUN, Heavy Acid Gun. Wow, isn't that nice? Or, since it's big and heavy, and Commandos have a penchant for Cannons, an Acid Cannon. "Heavy" is kind of redundant with the word "cannon"
Yea, I realized the Heavy Acid Rifle's bonuses and such specifically designed for the Heavy Acid Rifle, but I didn'tsee that until after getting Commando (TC2, so I didn't waste a bunch of actual time with it).
Whichprof hasthe Cert for the Beam Rifle?
