Thread: Master Riflemen, how did you do it?
I don't get it. I've been workingnonstop practically since the release (killing other stuff for less xp before). How can I be sofar behind everyone else... (I understand you're protective of your secrets, but help a fellow rifleman out buds... please?)
From Novice Rifleman, if I were a crazy idiot, I could do Jaxs all day, you would probably get to master rifleman, if I had a person sitting there ready to train me in everything. But I cant do that, its just to much for me. I have to PvP atleast half the time im on.
Or Im testing, or Im up-keeping my harvesters, or messing around with some stuff.
I probably dedicate 2 hours a day including fly time to XP. I just cant grind XP for 20 hours straight.
If I had to bet it would be that many of them do so by kiting extremly slow movement speed creatures with no ranged attacks that give a lot of xp. For example on endor Jax's give out about 3270 xp if you are grouped... lets say with a pet of some time. If you stack mind shot 1 and mind shot 2 on the pet you can kill one in about 1-2 min. Of course there is nothing to stop you from kiting say 5 or 6 at the same time. Pretty much the only thing that limits you is the ham cost of mind shot 1 and 2, so you can do more or less depending on your rifle and your mind stats.
Jax move slow enough that you can run to ideal rifle range, drop prone, aim, hit mind shot 2, and mind shot one and stand up before they get close enough to hit you.
If you take missions for Jax lairs you can also make aprox 5k a mission when you destroy the lair, and it gives you a hand way point to one of their lairs.
The only real danger is traveling to their lair, and making usure in your kite you don't get to close to a nasty agressive creature. In other words if you pay attention and take a little time to scope the lay of the land, not really a problem.
This can be done by just about any class that has a ranged DOT attack, but rifle men seem to be really good at it since our dots can be rather large. ![]()
Now I'm sure there are going to be people upset that I "revealed" how to do this, but the fact is it's pretty common knowledge. I personaly think that it's a bug that they move this slow, one shared with a few other creatures in other areas, but I haven't heard anything offical so I'm not stoping.
It kind of reminds me of my days of Kiting as a bard in EQ.
Of course that was way more dangerous than this.
Bah... note to self don't post when your being frequenlty intreupted. ![]()
Ok "Pet of some time" should read "Pet of some Kind"
and
"If you stack mind shot 1 and mind shot 2 on the pet" should read
"If you stack mind shot 1 and mind shot 2 on the Mob"

Yeah, the thing of it is, these creatures moved slow in the beta too. And they move slow now, despite I'm sure hundreds or thousands of bug reports about them. So, whatever. I'd just feel free to drop them. Wolf Kimas on Talus and Langlatches on Lok are good too.
Well , I'm not a master Rifleman I'm not even close buy I have ripped through the first two boxes of Sniper in about 8 hours or so total time .
Here's what I do , and no I don't mind sharing with ya at all
I go to Lok and go outside of Nym's Fortress quite a distance . I have noticed that there is a dense ring of red con MOBs that encircle the Fortress on all sides and it's pretty ugly for about 5 minutes of running ( in any direction ) .
Once you penetrate that ring , tho , things slow waaaay down . Instead of having 2 or 3 clusters of MOBs on your screen in every direction , now you will have an encounter every minute or so . Much easier to fight with this breathing room .
Then I look for specific creatures .
Gurnasetts are big dumb silly cow / skunk things that have no ranged attack , con yellow and can be brought down pretty quickly . They give around 1k each at my level . Not as easy as some of the others but , pretty **edit** easy .
Spined Snakes of any variety are the real cake . A regular one is around 900 or so and can be dropped with one Mindshot I / Mindshot II / Headshot II combo and a little bit of kiting depending on the rolls you get with your DOTs . The Giant Spined Snake is the real real cake with frosting . They don't have the ranged attack of the standard snake , they don't have much more hit points and they move just as slow . They give me around 1200 XP and take less than a minute to kill .
Ummm what else . These big dumb ass bird things , they come with suffixes like Scavenger and Ravager . They con red and move pretty fast , but again your MS I , MS II , HS II combo is enough to take them out in less than a minute . Each one of them is around 1k , as well .
Then you have your pathetic Langlatch , which runs about as fast as we crawl . You can kite these guys pretty easily , even kite 5 at a time or more . Just remember to get at least one shot that is NOT a MS I or II , or else you get gyped for your XP . The male ones are good for 800 , and the others are pretty sucky IMO . There is another " uber " one that cons white to me . An avenger or some silly nonsense . Personally I don't like doing the Langlatch thing but it's incredibly easy and utterly safe . You can find them in missions if you want , in the directions South and Northwest . Then you will have to fight in the dense ring of MOBs encircling the Fortress tho , and I wouldn't recomend that at all .
Hmmm what else . That's about it really .
I would steer clear of the other MOBs they are either BAF or have 10k pool points in every bar . Not worth the effort .
Also , you probablly already know this but having a pet or droid out will give you more XP per kill , even if the droid or pet does not attack . As long as you are grouped with it .
Don't know how long it's taking you to kill the MOBs your fighting but for that low XP I wouldn't stick with them unless your one hitting them and have a constant flowing spawn of them somewhere . IT's a bit low IMO . The stuff I mentioned can be brought down in less than a minute and in complete safety if you have some trapping or a meat shield that won't absorb too much of your XP .
Good luck with the grinding I guess
Jon
Hey, I gotta go get me some of that. Made Novice Rifleman and felt like the 125k xp grind was unbelievable. Did it mostly on faction missions, I have attained rank of Sergeant and have a load of faction left over, plus I made Novice Rifleman and I am only 60 xp away from Ranged Support IV.
So, I am looking at the Rifleman profession and see that three of the first row skills require 175kxp each. OMG I think. I'm gonna be the fricken Emperor by the time I run enough faction missions to make Master Rifleman! But yea, great ideas, go hunt some of the meaner stuff on other planets. Now I just need to run a few missions for the credits to transport.
*exploits*
Hahaha..NOT.
I get about 3k xp per kill, yes this is done w/out the use of exploits. Whoever posted that comment apperently has residual bleed damage from the brain.
Yes, leveling in the Rifle profession has got to be the hardest class I have ever played in any MMORPG, there are days I just want to surrender every skill I have and go the route of Pistoleer, but then there are days I wouldnt trade it for the world. Its not a class for everyone, patience and dedication are your friend, that w/a few good shots of Tatooine Sunburn.
So, does this mean you have no life what-so-ever? Cuz, I mean, you would only have 9 hours of sleep before the next day roles around. Get out, enjoy life. This game hasnt even really began yet (no vehicles, player mounts, player cities, etc.) so what is the point in grinding your way all the way up there? You will get bored of the game in a month or 2. Take your time. I spend about 4-5 hours a day playing this game.

I kill Veermok scouts and guards, white and yellow cons. I spend 15 hours PER DAY grinding these bastards, and have for the last TWO WEEKS. 400/800 rifle xp per kill. I am HALF of the way up the skill tree. There are ppl here who have been atMaster level for weeks. I am a powergamer's powergamer, but whatever the heck you guys are doing, for God's sake, let me in on it, my clicking wrist is about broken.
Thanks all for the advice. I went after some Jaxes last night and had a blast. A buddy of mine showed up and we actually hunted some of the nasty red cons on Endor. Talk about major xp! As for my 15 hours per day, I've got a fairly long macro set up that allows me to cap veermoks anytime, but the xp has since gone down to 211 for scouts and 400 for guards (I picked up a couple of skills). I think I have to agree with whoever sagely said "exploits," for reasons much like the ones on my "all BH masters are exploiters" thread, which has now got a mighty three pages.

The fact is that with more than 3,700,000 rifle xp required to get master, even killing the jaxes (1000 xp every few minutes) would takemore than 2,000 jaxes to get. I don't really care if you're exploiting, and I don't think tapping the jaxes counts, but I don't think it's possible that somebody killed2,000 jaxes in two weeks to get master that fast... and I think there are definitely some major exploiters out there. (not to mention 2,000 jaxes in two weeks is more than 100 per day, probably 6 hours of grind and occasional respawning, running, avoiding red cons, and regenerating your HAMs, EVERY DAY for two weeks). So aside from exploits and ridiculous quantities of jaxes (though thanks for posting these thoughts honestly), is there a way to be a master rifleman yet? Barring ten or more hours of play every day, I doubt it.
I consider all Jaxs, Langloths, and Kimas to be exploits. Also I know of more than a few who got a lot of thier xp before they fixed the bug where MOBs couldnt come out of thier caves. You could go to just about any dungeon and plug away at the hardest MOBs without any fear of being hit once, cause they were stuck behind an invisible barier.
Hell I hunt Jaxs. Yes I think its an exploit. There is no way they should move faster than my Grandmother. Im not saying I am above anyone else. 2,750,000 rifle xp is a hell of a lot!!!
What I am saying is that I would love to see any of the master rifleman tell me they got there without using any expoits. And that Ihighly doubt I'll hear that anytime soon.
