How do you riflemen make money?

I've only been playing a short while, and it just seems impossible for me to make any significant amount of cash. I've moved up the rifle branch of marksman, and I'm abour 20k xp away from novice rifleman. I understand that I'm not very strong at this point, but there has GOT to be a better way than what I'm doing. I'm killing Swooper leaders outside Coronet right now, but I can only kill maybe 2-3 before I need to rest for 5 minutes to get my mind bar back up. I can't afford brandy to help me. If I don't kill them with one shot, and I'm attacked, most of the time I'mdead. But even if I live, I still have to wait forever so my health bar will get back up. I can't afford nice armor.

Early on some one recruited me to the Empire and gave me 25k credits which I've been living off of ever since. I used it to by a nice laser rifle and a swoop bike.

I can run delivery missions, but that would still take me 500 billion years to get anything significant, and as I'm sure you're aware, it's MIND NUMBINGLY boring. I can't run destroy missions, because of...well....all the things I stated in the first paragraph.

How can I get some cash to help myself out?

Is this the way it's supposed to be?

Is it supposed to take this long?

What can I do to make this process faster? I mean it was fun at first......but I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to do this. I already have ONE job....and I get real cash for that one.

first off, if you lie prone you'll get three shots off before they know you are there. I'd recommend making some cash running destroy missions (lie prone! then hit them with headshot 2) on the lower level planets. Once you can afford a decent set of ubese armor, a spraystick, and some buffs hit Dantooine and the grind will be a breeze. Also, at your level the theme parks can break up the monotony, try Jabba's palace or the reb/imp park.

I wish I was on sunrunner so I could hook you up, perhaps a fellow rifleman will take pitty on ya

Good luck

Oh I lay prone, don't worry about that....

I completed Jabba themepark, and started on the Imperial one, but that's where I ran in to trouble. I just can't handle 3-4 rebels who starburst red.

So what planets should I take destroy missions on? I'm not really sure which ones are "lower level."

ah, yeah all red rebels could be a problem when they agro. Try tatooine, that's where I started out. The sad fact of the matter is that the game is really tough (and really annoying) without buffs and decent armor. It is definitely the have/have not scenario. How about trying a group hunt? Or perhaps go creature handler or get a bio engineered pet (again $$$!) to tank for you whilst you plug away. Starting out rifles is a pain but once you get into it a bit it is a lot of fun. I am currently mastering it for the second time, slowly....

PS: If you pick up scout there are always crafters looking for specific hides, bones, etc. So you turn your kills into $$$ twice!

My way: I get my harv droid out before I lay down and start shooting. I hunt the big time things (for the great meats and hides) resource wise, and they tend to be easy to kill in one hit. I program the droid to harvest the materials when I say "harv". I lay down and open up. Once I get a kill I say harv, the droid gets the stuff, and I move on to the next target.

mind buffs, mind bufs, mind buffs. if your getting hurt because of low mind go to a cantina and find a dancer/musician mind buffing. a lot dont require payment outside of whatever tips you can afford. give that a try.

Did you buy JTL? If so, it is a great way to make cash and cut down on travel costs. Once you get a ship with a hyperdrive you can fly to any starport for free. On my server there happens to be an afk musician at the Mining Outpost 24/7 with an autogroup buff and "she" only charges $3000. With musician buffs you can shoot your bigger rifles without mind cost.

Warning shot from the marksman tree can be a lifesaver at low level without buffs, use it. Only get missions of non agro creatures like nunas or something. Its either that or find a rich friend who can give you a set of ubese, brandy and enough cash to buy buffs for a couple weeks. If that friend could tank for you you could probably be close to master in a few weeks. You are just doing it the challenging way, which I respect, but don't expect it to be easy.

Talk to your local yocal Armorsmith and ask what hides are in demand, a while back on Eclipse Druni and Paralope hides where worth around 50cpu, thats about 250credits per kill!

Get a mission , kill ten , mission pays 1k, and you get 2.5k for the hides, really easy cash

1) get a few harverstors (anyone can use them) and plonk them somewhere near your house - harvest anything that seem useful and sell it on the bazaar (orr is always useful)

2) make a deal with a doc to harvest avian meat - can be easy to kill and sometimes sell for 100 per unit.

3) Collect and sell locked containers

I think its quite tough for new players right now since everythng is priced about 20 times the price it should be based on mission payouts. At this time almsot everyone is getting poorer. That means a suit of comp should be 15k not 300k and a buff about750.

Since mission payouts are the only real income into the game things will change.

Do Recon mission from the explore mission terminals. Take two mission is the same direction. If you are on Naboo I suggest taking mission to the North-East out of Keren, and when you completed them, Drive on to Kadahar. From there you take mission to the SouthoWest, and when you completed them drive on back to Keren. There are Explore mission terminals just outside both starports.
You can run Recon missions on you swoop to earn some basic credit. It cant support you need for high end guns and the armour. But you can get enough for some brandy, a Personal Shields Generator, and some Stim Packs.

Borgnine, it's good to see a fellow Imperial on Sunrunner. Send me an email if you're still hurting for cash. I don't think I'll be on until after the weekend, but I think I might be able to help you out with some of your money problems.

Aeneas_Menosos is the winner! I didn't realize the destroy missions were so easy on Tatooine...last time I checked they were impossible. Guess that's a good sign though.

So I've been running tons of destroy missions for the Empire, and I've already picked up some Ubese armor.....

But thank you to all for the tips!
