Thread: New camp idea

I was sitting here readong the posts, and thinking about how I wish a Ranger's camps were more... sought after. i'm tired of some guy trying to hologrind scout or ranger just to drop it and insisting they get to make the camps. i mean... i have these uber cool camps, and i can't hardly use them because ppl want to be nice to the hologrinders! RRRRRR...

then i had an epiphony! Here's my line of thought.... lets make the ranger camps worthwhile! make ppl WANT to use the bigger camps! i say move the last camp upgrade to master ranger, and then make it so that when you enter the camp, it takes the aggro from any creature off you! lets make it have the same effect as running into a building! the creature stops attacking... and you are safe until you walk out of the camp again. i know it sounds a little weird, but i had done this for a while on corellia. get yourself into more trouble than you can handle and run into a building to remove the aggro. now your butt may be toast when yo uleave, but at least it gives you a chance to heal before you leave the building and run for your life again.

some (probably most) people wont agree with this, but i don't care! i think it would be awesome if people saw "master ranger" and was like "ooh he can make those uber camps! lets invite him to our group!" then when you save all their dumb @sses for smacking a rancor lair before it's time and the entire world aggros on you, they'll be like "hooray for the ranger! you are the coolest!"

"i know... i know..." *bows*

hehe maybe then you could charge admission! *devious grin*

Interesting idea.

This kind of fits with the idea of the camp that doesnt disband during combat, has a creature repellant that works, and has other benefits to make the camps worthwile to the individual and the group.

It’s not a bad idea at all. I posted this idea some time ago but what if…

You could cook food in camp, using that cool fire pit and you get (like put a radial menu on it, select load meat, etc, into it then it outputs “camp food”) that will give very very nice buffs.

This will add value to hunting parties.

Or your group could just stand in the camp and kill all the surrounding creatures without fear of being aggro'd.

It could work if the same rules for buildings applied to the camp. When you enter a building to hide from the creature, at least in my experience, the creature regains all of it's HAM. If this happened when you entered the camp as well, it would solve the potential exploit.

Last time I ran into a building while being chased, the creature just came in with me. Incap'd me right on the rug. After I came to it didn't seem to aggro, even though it should have. It just stayed in the room, against the wall. As far as I know the next person had to deal with it too.

this wasn't meant as an exploit... just a way to make our high level camps GOOD for something. but i agree (and meant to add) that you cannot attack anything while in the camp or it would negate the affect. and yea.... i guess if you wanted to be a jackass about it you could leave, shoot, come back. leave, shoot, come back. but also if you are a master ranger, then you shouldn't NEED to do thins kind of cheap-o tactic.

now for people in your group... everyone has been in a group that has that one totally worthless guy who gets EVERYONE killed by doing something stupid. i would be open to suggestions about how to punish this guy without drawing aggro into the camp of smarter individuals. maybe have it be a modifier in the scout or ranger tree. maybe if you have master scout you get a +to the ranger camp aggro thing. i know i know... it's gettign a little involved... but i really think this idea could evolve beautifully and make the ranger sought after in the hunting parties. anyone have any suggestions on how we may help this idea mature?

heh

I dont think that we should have that kind of ability to "punish" anyone. However, i think that there is a seed of a really good idea in that.

well no... lol i didn't mean that we would get to punish them... but they get punished on their own for smacking a lair of snarling ravenous drooling mutant rancors behind the campwhen we are fighting the gaping spider hunters on the other side! more times that i could remember i have diesd cause someone drew aggro from some big nasty critter and ran RIGHT INTO the camp full of ppl trying to heal! i dunno... it might just be wishful thinking... but i think it would be cool if not everyone had to suffer from that.

the food post was cool... and i like the idea, but you wouldn't want to negate the docs sitting in corellia outside the starport giving buffs. maybe a buff slightly bigger that you would get foraging? or maybe you had to forage food and you could increase it's buff if you cook it in the uber ranger camp... who knows? i don't want to get off track of the main topic here... and that is the creature aggro cancel. great ideas, though. i love this forum. we rangers ROCK.

I agree with ya that our uber camp should be at Master Ranger. I always felt that the HTFB should be at Master Ranger, and since it's not, I hope we can get a new uber camp at Master Ranger in the near future.

I like the idea, but as above, people will use it as an exploit. So, i got an idea that could make this work. We could give this camp it's own HAM bar. For example, you're in a hunting group. Somebody decides to shoot at a rancor lair, before you know it there are 3 rancors attackin the group. Us being rangers can drop a camp for everyone to hide in. The creature, or in this case creatures, attacking us now cant attack us, but can attack our camp. This waywe can't just hide in it for ever. Also, to avoid people just dropping a new camp when the old one is destroyed, there could be a limit on how many of these camps we can drop in a certain time span. Like 1 camp every 20 mins or so. Also, if the Ranger is engaged in combat, then we can't drop the camp. We, being Rangers, shouldn't be in combat though because the creatures shouldn't notice us due to our camo, which we should definatley be wering, especially on a planet like Dathomir.

It's a good idea and i think with a little more brainstorming we can turn it into a possibility.

that may work, too.... but i don't want it to get too involved, for fear that they may not even consider it. i mean... if you put a ham bar on a camp, then do we do it for the other camps? how much ham? hrrmmmm... interesting... i don't think a creature should be able to attack a camp. i'm running out of ideas, though. lol. anyone else wanna pitch in here and give us some new ideas to roll around?
