Thread: Testing on Tatooine

Alrighty then...

I have found something interesting out regarding /conceal and packsof aggressives.

  1. Walk into the pack and check /conceal against all the creatures

  2. Attack one of the creatures

  3. Take damage and lose concealment

  4. The other creatures will continue to ignore you (except of course the one you are attacking)

What I need from you guys are which aggressive creatures on Tatooine are assistive and non-assistive.

I have tested this approach against Kreetle and Sevorrt. Does anyone know if these critters are assistive?

I think Kreetles are and Sevorrts aren't.

I think.

Kreetle - Only plain Kreetle are non-social.

Sevorrt - Non-social

Bocatt - All Social

Swarming Dewback - Social

Cannibal Dewback - Social

Feral Bantha - Non-social (Deathblow)

Scyk - Social

Dune Lizards - Social (Deathblow)

Dragonets - Social

Mynock - Social

"Scyk - Social"

Ok, here's the skinny then:

  • Scyk do assist through /conceal if you attack one of their nearby kin.

However non-assistive critters, thatfailed to reveal you before, will continue to ignore you once your conceal is broken by combat.

Good or bad, that is the system as it stands now.

----

On another note...

  • I have checked special move costs during /conceal and it does not appear to affect concealment.

  • Only damage from an outside source seems to break conceal

For those of you interested, here is the final tally of my /conceal testing:

Parameters:

  • Master Ranger

  • Camoflauge Skill +100

  • Running Speed (Walking or Crawling will produce a better success rate)

  • Success contains successes againts my own and a companion's camoflauge

  • Companion's camoflauge was applied by me

It takes quite a while to compile this much data...

If you want to test different levels of camo skill, this should provide you a good base line for comparison.

How close to the critters did you get ?

"How close to the critters did you get ?"

Between50and 63m...

To ensure that I did not get aggroed by /conceal breaking, I never got closer than 50m.

At 40m, aggressive critters who break /conceal will attack immediately.

I'm thinking that success rate might drop off a bit as you enter into sub 40m range as proximity to a creature I *think* is supposed to factor into things.

But, if you ever close within 40m...obviously one of the following is occuring:

1) You got spawned on = baaad lol

2) You are about to engage in an attack so no biggy anyway

3) You weren't watching where you were going

4) You are a CH or chief and need to get close to either harvest from the lair or Baby tame.

5) You ahve having to squeeze past a cluster of lairs to move forward

Outside of 40m is what we are all really concerned about anyway 90% of the time since, as Nraas put it, Conceal is overall, a better choice for when traversing a planet while Mask Scent is better around combat situations unless, of course, it involves Humanoids.

Nice job on the data collection. I know you are doing a lot of work with Delta, and I *know* he hates CHs, but you might want to see about talking a CH into joining you for "further testing" by sending them in to tame aggro babies.

"might drop off a bit as you enter into sub 40m range"

I can say that I have heard nothing regarding range being part of the calculation...

However, that does not mean it isn't a factor.

"You ahve having to squeeze past a cluster of lairs to move forward"

At some point, you will probably be 63m from any of the critters in those lairs...

At that point the /conceal will be checked and you should be fine (unless one of the other options you listed occurred ).

If /conceal or /maskscent does fail, you can just withdraw, wait 15 seconds, and try to succeed against the remaining critters.
