Thread: Testing on Tatooine
NRaas,
I'm curious about the differences in detection rates between the different creature types. Is this done on purpose because some creatures are suppose to have better senses then others or does a stat like ferocity or viciousness play a part in this? I'd be interested to see what the Ferocity levels were for each of the creatures/humanoids that seemed to break /conceal more often. And what's the deal with the Overkreetle? 18% success rate? Something must be going on there...
"And what's the deal with the Overkreetle? 18% success rate?"
"Overkreetle 12 4 9 9 22 18%"
Good call Fwad, that's a typo. It should be 12, 4, 0, 0, 4, 100%.![]()
I ran into two Overkreetles on the way back to town... It was the last entry I made into the table.
"Is this done on purpose because some creatures are suppose to have better senses then others"
Not that I'm aware of... From what I understand the chance of detection is based on the critters Creature Level and no other aspect of the creature.
----
My apologies, that typo really skewed the final results... Here are the correct totals:
Sub Total 85018 30898 95%
Total 10152441 1080 94%
"But how did you get the CL for the NPCs?"
The experience provided for successfully using /conceal is CL * 2.
I just back calculated the Humanoid Creature Level from the experience provided. ![]()
Mmmmm .... Empirical data .....
Thanks for all your hard work, NRaas.

For those of you interested, here is the final tally of my /conceal testing:
Parameters:
- Master Ranger
- Camoflauge Skill +100
- Running Speed (Walking or Crawling will produce a better success rate)
- Success contains successes againts my own and a companion's camoflauge
- Companion's camoflauge was applied by me
It takes quite a while to compile this much data...
If you want to test different levels of camo skill, this should provide you a good base line for comparison.
Thanks Nraas, but a coupld of questions:
1) Was this done on Test Server or a Live Server?
2) You say running speed, did you do "all" running through the packs of reds?? Did you just run on through the lair/pack area?? Did you run up to a mob, stop and wait for "skill" checks?? Did you "skirt" the area around them, staying at a set distance, ie: 30m away from them??
3) While Tatooine is a great "starter" planet, do you plan on doing an "advanced" planet such as Endor or Dathomir to test the full capacity of /conceal??
I ask #3 for the reason of, Mask Scent should be enough to get any Master Ranger by on a "starter" planet and past "newbie" mobs. Where areas /conceal should be our Shining calling card on the Advanced planets and against "aggressive" and "hard" creatures and NPCs.
Thanks again!
ugh, ecah is each
And NRaas, go make your sidekick
, Delta, go do the same with maskscent so we can compare success rates.
"Was this done on Test Server or a Live Server?"
It had to have been done on the Test Center, as I was testing the up and coming changes to /conceal. ![]()
"You say running speed"
I ran until I received the break check... Latency being what it is, the check usually occurred between 50 and 63m from the target.
So I was running at the time of the break check, which I believe is what will incur the penalty.
"do you plan on doing an "advanced" planet"
As my character on Test Center is not up to par with the advanced planets, testing against more dangerous worlds would be extremely time consuming:
- Collecting enough camo kit resources to make sufficient kits, would require killing some of the natives... And at the time I was there with a group, the insect meat was shifting

As concealment is based on Creature Level... There will be some fall off when concealing against the more dangerous creatures.
- What that progressionlooks likewould take far more data than I had time to collect.
As the Patch is due out next week... I saw no further reason to test something that the Ranger population in general will soon know on their own. ![]()
Is this true currently? Was this something you were told or did you know a few NPC CLs to figure it out? I was maxxed in scout exp when conceal was introduced so I have no clue.

Well for the purposes of this table,2 * CL works out comparatively well.
Whether that is the true "Creature Level" of the humanoids, I don't know. ![]()
All dewbacks are assistive and same with squills. The desert razor back is also I believe.
Oh, and a Bantha matriarch will assist any other Bantha being attacked, and same with Ronto Bull.
Wow, I should have kept reading NRaas, didnt realize below you had already run your tests.
Great job, most excellant, you for sure have earned your keep now. "Impressive. Most impressive."
However non-assistive critters, thatfailed to reveal you before, will continue to ignore you once your conceal is broken by combat.
Hey I'm fine with that really. It's the non assitive that should not be attacking us. That is now mask scent is now. It would of course be nice if the assistive ones didn't attack us, but I think that would be asking to much and make us to powerful. Besides there are more agro non-assistive there there are agro assistives.
Thanks for the work NRaas. Has anyone run any test with mask scent on TC to see just how it does work with change?
