Thread: Why do we get battle armor from the combat upgrade?

Ok we have all heard that certain profession can wear certain types of armor. And that there was soing to be 3 total classes of armor. Well on the armor forums they just posted the complete list of who gets what.
They also posted some information reguarding Mandolorian and RIS armor. I would sugest that anyone who is getting this stuff crafted now wait. For the Mando armor. people will have to go see the RIS quest guy. And trade in there armor. They will ge given a single use schem to use and that can be made into the appropriate level armor that you would need..
I also know that a lot of people have mods in certain armor pieces. If comp armor is what you have mods in . You will still be able to use it. But you will be hindred so much that you will more than likely decide not to wear it. Even if is is only 1 piece it will default the entier suit to the highest lvl armor that is worn.

Were any of you in danger of actually using the Mando armor? We were given the Cert as a 'bone' and now it's gone...no biggie.
Actually i was in the process of having a set made and have a few pieces. This was not easy and definatly not cheap, and i will flip if i can't use it after the upgrade.

DOH! Ok, were 2 of you in danger of wearing Mando armor?
You can still master a combat profession that gets the Mando cert (but, that's not the point, is it?).

Remember that all armor can have the same stats now (well, within the same armor type). The skin is just the look. In other words, there can be Uber Bone Armor now.

Personal Shield Generators will be available and can be used by any profession, both combat and non-combat related. They are meant to give you a reasonable amount of protection for a short period of time. You can get personal shield generators from your friendly local Armorsmiths."
we'll have an armor certification, that's already been confirmed, but the poor artisans, entertainers, etc... will be left outside the combat loop, unless they choose to get a combat prof of course. so an armorsmith/architect will probably not have access to armor... I don't know that this will sit well with those classes. PLUS, i think the PSGs are only for energy weapons and not functional for kinetic (melee) attacks... I hope a poor artisan doesn't get rushed by a spineflap, or they're toast!
So on the bright side, WE HAVE ARMOR CERTIFICATION which kinda tells me that we're in for a combat role later on.

Under the new system, armor will be divided into four categories: None, Reconnaissance, Battle, and Assault . Each category has its unique damage protection.
- None - Provides no additional damage mitigation
- Reconnaissance Armor receives a nominal bonus to energy protection and a nominal penalty to kinetic damage protection. This can be conceptualized as a free energy layer.
- Battle Armor has an even protection against all damage types - no modifiers at all.
- Assault Armor receives a nominal bonus to kinetic protection and a nominal penalty to energy damage protection. This can be conceptualized as a free kinetic layer.
FYI...copied from the Offical (public) CU Armor Document. This explains why don't really want Recon Armor.
