So, what does this mean for Ranger Rifleman? We get certs for 2 different types of armor? If I were a Fencer/Ranger would that make me have more mitigation? Double the amount? If so they are deliberately forcing people into certain types of builds for a wee bit more stacking.
I dont quite understand this yet....

Hey Kai this is a post frm Blix I thought this might be what you are talking about.
Lets assume you are a Master TKA-Commando:
Master Commando gives you max certification for Advanced Assault armor.
Master TKA gives you their defensive built in mitigators.
If you put on your Assault Armor it automatically cancels out the TKAbuilt in mitigators.
If you take off your Assault armor your TKA mitigators again go active.
If you are wearing armor you can still use TKA specials however the armor is where your protection is coming from not the TKA mitigators. Similarly you can have your armor off and pull out the Rocket launcher and the TKA mitigators are active.
The point being you can have one or the other, they justdont stack. It is just like youare not allowedto put on 2 chest pieces.

On a personal level, I like this addition..
As a master rifleman (recon) and master ranger (battle), I'd have certs for two of the armor types I wanted to wear most. Imperial scout armor, and Storm Trooper armor.
Also, I think out of the three types, battle armor is probably a good choice for rangers since their combat profession varies.
Recon armor makes sense for riflemen, as they're dealing damage at range, and more prone to energy attacks than kinetic.
We don't know about armor crafting yet though... keep in mind, even something with a "penalty" could possibly be crafted with very high resists by a good AS.

Okay, that makes sense then. Thanks
Whats the point of having mitigation/armor certs in Ranger if my choice of combat professions totally negates the armor I am certed for at Ranger?
I understand that it wont stack but if I like wearing my Ranger battle armor when I fire my rifle its going to remove my armor mitigations. I just feel it makes me have to choose the Rifleman armor so I can be effective since the Ranger certed armor wont work with my chosen fighting profession.
I would rather see a mitigations for each type of armor based into Ranger instead of locking us into just Battle Armor.

Oh I was not complaining about the stats, I just made the obviously erronious assumption that scouts would get scout armor.... Silly me what could I have been thinking?

Its my understanding that the mitigations don't stack. You get the highest one. They are listed as a % so I have trouble thinking there is any other way for them to work.
The armor certs are not listed in the Ranger section of the CTL-S menu in Testing so we'll have to wait and see how this works out. No one has gotten to try any of the new armor out yet so I think its best that we chill and wait.
As for the Scout armor thing... That is an Imperial Trooper armor. I don't thing think that scout has much in common with us as Scouts. Scout is a vauge or even broad word.

Agent, didn't you read the newest notes. At live all Scouts must go Imperial where they are given cert for Scout armor. Upon receiving the title of master Ranger we are given the cert for "Super Scout armor" this armor looks alot like the regular scout armor, but comes with a sombrero and a mod of "Kreetle ass whippen -5"

w00t I got bored last night and played around with the face on a new toon untill I could make her look like she was hispanic. I'll have to grind here up to BH/Ranger. It will go good with the Sombrero. It'll be fun trying to justify it in RP.

I don't think the actual armor certs are listed anywhere really, but the mitigation (for movement, accuracy and weapon speed) are listed in the individual boxes.
The master ranger box gives a 40% mitigation to one of those.. and the rest are placed throughout the skill trees.

Would have made too much sense for scout/ranger to wear scout trooper armor.... Perhaps my little bit of rifleman will allow me to wear it.
