Thread: Getting closer to the end

Ok, I for one am tired of having posts deleted, so this will be all sweetness and light.

I really like having skills been given away over the past two years - TN to combat medics (yeah, placing boo boo strips is a pre-requisite of running up hills) and areatrack (findfriend works at a greater range - target works to some extent).

I also like having no attention paid to the profession for about 20 months, except that once a trap really really works well, it gets nerfed. Oh, not to mention that rescue, after having been nerfed way back, is now useless as peace is no longer an option. Way to think stuff out guys.

I also like that in spite of being the sole elite profession requiring mastery of a non-SP nerfed basic profession we are underpowered and fairly weak in all areas of combat. Our traps don't work as advertised, some never have from day 1. And yes, again the only fix is to nerf the p-dart, which is working so well that Rangers are laughing at Jedi. Hell, I gotmore than oneJedithe ancient Krayt badge and last night pretty much owned the Ackley - amazing what pop tarts and l darts will do to a large beastie.

I love being owned by NPCs as the only profession I can master and use some FS stuff - BH - has no snare or stopping specials.I can use traps, but that takes out my damage potential to such a point that some larger creatures can regenerate while I trap them. My main chosen profession has few defenses against creatures, which is ludicrous. I can hunt for two years and a novice rifleman with the same weapon goes as much damage as I can. What is wrong with that picture?

I think that getting a lot of harvest is good, until you realize that a combat stacked novice scout can almost harvest as much in the same time period because of the higher kill rate.

I won't even mention camps and the change to scout xp from survival. Who asked for that anyhow? (Pretty sure I saw nothing on this in my tenure as Scout corr, and know Owen and Paks never mentioned it in the forums)

Oh well. I am the "oldest" Master Ranger on my server. I was number 3, the other two have long since departed for greener pastures. Bout time I folded the tent, dropped Master, and all of camping, and some of trapping and got some combat stuff. Maybe I will go for Jedi, at least they get frequent updates and after a fashion can actually kill things.

Bets on if this gets deleted and I get banned (again) for trolling. Probably, so I will email it to a few guys. See ya in a week or three I guess.

I just made Master Ranger on my second account. I'm staying. I like it and if for nothing else, I had a good friend that I met early in my SWG days that was a ranger. We fast became good friends. He's since left the game because SOE pushed him too far. If for nothing else, I'll keep Master Ranger just because I miss him.(ya ya, mushy stuff I know)

/salute fellow rangers

/salute Si' Dorden of Flurry, you're missed my old friend

As long as you enjoy it, you are doing the right thing.

As for professions, BH/Pistoleer sounds like it might be a good combo for you.

Hope to still see you around.

Just think of it this way: you leave, they win.

But honestly, here's what I've been doing: making sure I can still have fun. My and Nemo have been terrorizing beasts for the past few weeks. and you know what? that's not going to stop with the p-dart changes. It won't change at all, really. I just have fun hunting and doing my thing. As long as I can do what I enjoy, I'll be here. It peeves me to no great end that I see this kinda crap happen to Rangers, who play the game with maturity and friendliness. But again...as long as I can actually play the game, and have fun, I'll be here. I don't see that changing, no matter what they do to us.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Rangers can be so much more effective. We should be the Bounty Hunters of the creature world. We should be Steve Erwin. Ok, maybe I went to far there.

Anyway, I'd like to see the traps be more effective. I barely notice a change in attack speed of a creature in Adhesive mesh which seem to be the most resource intensive trap because of how many uses each has. That's not fair I don't think.

All that time and effort to get a high mask scent and a giant gubbur noticed me with my mask scent on. That is irritating.

I think the reason we get ignored is because we can't go into Coronet and do a simultaneous feign death to nearly crash a server to get people's attention.

Iconic professions. Ok. Chewbacca was a Scout. How come that didn't stay?

When you think about it, aren't almost all of the original professions iconic? You can find something on each of them in the Expanded Universe.

I miss being a Ranger. It was more than a profession, it was a virtual way of life. It wasn't for everyone. But those who took it up became family.

watch what you say about that around here. many many rangers do NOT want to be shoehorned into PvE only! have you forgotten that we can track Players and NPC's??? not to mention Rescue which is now busted. I do NOT want to be made a PvE only profession thank you very much.

as to JB's post. all i can say right now is /agree

QFE.

I agree with SickSix on this point. I think before a revamp ever comes we have to hash that point out first. How can we mesh the two predominant visions for Ranger. In 1 vision we are Elite Outdoorsman Hunters and in another vision Ranger is more of a Commando Style Elite Combat Profession. I prefer the later but maybe we can find a balance between the two.

We use enough SP we should get both.

We should be able to do both PVE and PVP. Read up on the Antarian rangers...we helped Jedi in the books, the imperial rangers were a form a custom agents..hunting down smugglers etc.

Look at the amount of SP's we spend to be aMaster Ranger.

For what?

To be ignored.

For all our skills to be given to other professions.

The skills we are left with are mostly borked.

They won't talk to us about the profession, I don't see how "hashing things out" with them accomplish anything. If they talk to us, they will have to deliever a product...they don't want to deliver a product to us, so...we have what we have now...IGNORE.

They should be embarrassed to talk to us, a profession that cost the most in sp's andthey won't do anything with it. How in the name of all that isfair and equitable do they justify that to us?? What excuse can they possibly give us?

Good advertising..."come play SWG..be a ranger and hunt down animals fo resources...ooops wait a scout can do that better...be a ranger and take part in the war..ooops..wait, with those sp's you can be a MBH and still have skills to be a master rifleman...ooops...wait..never mind..don't be ranger...we screwed up on all those skill points we make you take to be a "Master Ranger". master of what?????

A profession that spends a ton on skill points for what? Answer me that developers.

Not talking about restricting us to PvE, thoughI don't see us being all that useful against a Master BH, unless we can start using traps against other PCs.

Tracking PCs and NPCs is a cool skill of ours, but how often is it really made use of? I mean, it'd be nice to have some Ranger terminals for finding fugitives and such, be they NPC or PC.

Noone wants to not PvE. I'm talking about expanding what we already can do some to make it comparable for the amount of SP we have to use to be one.
