Thread: Getting closer to the end
For the amount of skill points that each of us devotes to Ranger..we should be able to be PVE and PVP.
That is simple, it is an elite profession more so than BH, Doc, BE, SL, Rifles; will ever be, due to the skill points involved. Unfortunately soe doesn't see it our way. I'm not quite sure what they think about rangering anymore.

JB,
Before you consider leaving Ranger JB perhaps you would consider becoming a Master Ranger/Jedi. Get some force skills and some saber skills then let us know how it works. I am not interested in a full temp jedi but I have always wondered if some Jedi with Ranger could make an interesting hunting template.
And just think, you'd be able to sell pre-cooked meat from the lightsaber cutting through.

I plan on going this route when I finish the village, but it will still be about 3-4 months before I am there. I only have 2 more unlocks, one next phase 3, then I choose to wait untill phase 3 comes around againso as to get the skill I want. I do know I don't wanna be cl 80 as a paddie, for my skills will not bet up to dealing with that high a lvl mob. I will miss TKM, as that and Ranger have been what I have allways been, but I am and allways will be a Ranger first.

I agree with SickSix on this point. I think before a revamp ever comes we have to hash that point out first. How can we mesh the two predominant visions for Ranger. In 1 vision we are Elite Outdoorsman Hunters and in another vision Ranger is more of a Commando Style Elite Combat Profession. I prefer the later but maybe we can find a balance between the two.
We use enough SP we should get both.

Me to QFE, something as simple as makeing our traps work on npc's/pc's would go a long way in showing us that we are still part of the game, and luv'd just a little.
It isn't all that hard to "hash out". Show me another profession that, when in combat with a creature, attempts to use any of their weapons or specials and sees this message on screen:
That special can only be used against Players / NPCs.
Not gonna happen, is it. So why are OUR specials, which were once thought to be SOOO unbalancing that they were limited to creature only, gated to creature only? I'd simply love to see us on equal footing, combat-wise, with every other single master elite combat profession - if I have a special or weapon, it should work against whatever I want to attack. NPCs, Players, creatures, CH pets, whatever. Make our skills slanted more towards outdoors-y survival mountain main uber tracker/hunter type with stealth, that's fine. Just let ALL the skills we have be used in ALL aspects of the game, not just a small portion of it hunting creatures. If ALL we got was existing things fixed, and they removed our limitation to trap only creatures, we'd be 1000 times ahead of where we are now. Heck, I can solo a creature in the mid-90s WITHOUT using the pdart trap, but I can my butt handed to me by CL79 and CL80 NPCs 'cause any specials I DO have don't seem to work on them at all? How gacked up is THAT?!
I'd love to see Ranger embrace the "genius of the AND". There is absolutely NO reason that we can't have good skills with trapping, hunting and stealth that help us be the supreme hunters (maybe we get extra bonus vs creatures, both PvE and CH pet) AND use those skills at least to SOME extent in PvNPC and PvP. Maybe we don't get the extra "creature hit" bonus, but we can still use our specials, skills, traps, etc.

Not that it is of any importance, but as people maybe remember I was never agreeing with this saying before the CU, nowadays however I am afraid I have to agree with it (mark the day red in the calender, I agree with JBmat for once
