Thread: ParadoXP
So... the new group XP changes result in an individuals share of the XP for a kill being reduced dramatically (and it appears this also applies to the scout XP per at least one report onthe scout boards). So that sounds like we're being dicouraged from grouping.
Can anybody clear answer this, are we coming or going? Does out left hand know what our right hand is doing? And most importantly "Whuh??"
+STUNNED+

+CONFUSED+
and still no hat...
The early word is that the XP reductions are a bug rather than an exercise in nerfage.
Ah well, given that am looking at the wrong end of a 3hrs download, maybe it'll be fixed by the time I get back ingame (prolly at the weekend at the rate the d'l is actually going...)
There is still a group xp bonus, it's just not a huge multiplier like it was before the change (i.e. 8x for a full group
It all seems very strange. the Aug 6th Pub seemed to be a group encouraging publish. But now they Nerf group XP? All i can say is, if this is a nerf........Ill never group again. Better to solo and get my xp rather than group and get nothing.
One thing i have noticed is that whenI Trap, kill, or what ever it nolonger shows the xp i get from that action. It just says you have gained *Fill in the blank* xp. I have to check my new number and do the math. anyone else seeing this? If this is intentional its reallymessed up.I had a much easyer time calculating whatI needed to do when the numbers were displayed. Good thing they didn't take away the xp moniter. ![]()
4 people in a group get 1/4 of the XP they used to get. 5 get 1/4. 8 get crap. 3 get 1/3. 2 get 1/2.
So it looks like solo creature missions with a droid just came back into vogue.
I have maxed scout so many times it doesn't matter. I have 3 million FS banked in the stupid Senses area that I can't freaking use.

Typical. I have the same Ranger / Rifleman template for a year and then one day a friend convinces me to go Ranger / CH. I'm halfway through the change and then this happens...
Without a group there to take the damage my pets just die. This gives me two options: either attempt this very slow grind by grouping, or drop all of my Rifleman / Ranger skills to lower my CL enough so I can use my pets on solo missions (sounds a lot like trapping xp, doesn't it?)
Any advice???
My advice is ... wait.
Just hang in there a few days until they devs make a definitive statement. There are a lot of misleading posts by players out there and the "It's here. It's real so piss off!" post in the holocron might just be CS trying to staunch the flow of tickets that they have to look at. Until I see a concrete "This is how it is" post from a redname, it's all hearsay and conjecture. This, along with just how fubar this patch has been, really means that at this early stage, anything could happen and making long term character decisions is a tad hasty, hrrroooom.
Publish 22 Experience Changes
Experience is now divided among group members, rather than every group member receiving full credit for the kill.
A larger group experience bonus was implemented, to ensure that grouping is still optimal: although experience earned per kill is less, a group of players is still able to earn experience over time at a much faster rate than a solo player.
For example:
- If you solo a creature then you get 6000 experience.
- If I solo a creature then I get 6000 experience.
- If we group and kill two creatures together, then we get 3000 experience per creature each (6000xp total), plus an additional bonus amount of experience because we are grouped (and two of us together can kill those two creatures more quickly than we could have solo'd one each).
The display of experience was altered in order to minimize the notification of individual experience grants, and emphasize the notification of group experience bonus percentages. Since individual experience grants on a per-kill basis decline as group size increases, but the group bonus percentage increases as your group-size increases, we want to place the emphasis on the increasing bonus for grouping rather than on the decreasing individual experience awards.
We hope that this clears up any confusion with the experience changes.

I am trying to remember what the damaged based xp levels were like pre-CU. I remember that when the CU went live I was shocked by the huge amount of xp I was getting. Is this just a sort of reversion to the usual amounts you would get pre-CU when you shared the xp pool, or is it really a vast reduction?
Great question Paks as I was wondering the same thing. I've grouped so little over the last 2 years I honestly can't remember how it worked pre-CU.
From the way I'm reading that announcement, you get a share of the total XP based on how many are in the group PLUS a bonus amount, which means MORE XP being awarded when grouped. That doesn't seem to be what people have been experiencing... but then again, most of the 'reports' have been of the om!!g...u nerfed xp u r teh suxxors fix it.... Which is, as ever, really, really helpful.

Waiting till I start seeing some figures for XP when I'm grouped/ungrouped before either accepting Tigg's explanation or not.

/agree
If any Rangers (or players in general)on Wanderhome see me on go ahead and /tell me if you want to do some real testing. I love these problems thers usualy a way around it. If that soulution happens to be soloing with my droid then so be it.
Pre-CU I was able to easily solo Angler lairs on Yavin IV as a TKA master. I doubt that will happen now, But you never know. I'm not quitting SWG over a simple XP nerf that can most likelybe worked around.
