Right, stop saying that we will be "stealing" or "thieves", or even worse, "theifs".

Yes the dev said stealing. But, it isnt. If it was stealing you could nick anything, anytime. Its the targeted covert retrieval of something important. It, they say, is pretty much a test of what is to come. SMUGGLER missions, where they smuggle and we have to get the contraband from him.

And whats wrong with being a spy? I WANT an ejector seat for my AV21 and tuxedo/jetpack combination.

Aye, stealing is a rather harsh word. The ranger won't be a petty thief.

Acquisition(sp?) seems the more logical term. Rangers will acquire items that other people cannot.

Smugglers are prone to bribing someone to get what they want; in most cases faction point from corrupt officers through their underworld contacts.

Rangers will, through stealth and cunning, retrieve certain information or crucial items.

Yeah, but not in a capacity where the utilisation of extraneous words is expected for a required amount of obfuscation!

My day job requires me to put on camo, built traps and camps, and on occasion covertly gather information by means of infiltration and observation. Its not as exciting as it sounds, but the pay and, leave aint bad.

Stealing would be a matter of prospective would it not?

Rebel version of events:
Our agent in place was of monumental to the success of this mission. Whit out her lifting the access card from the brutish governor while he was intoxicated in the cantina it would never have succeed. The card allowed our strike teal to penetrate the Imperial Inquisition's Torture facility just outside town, and liberate 27 political prisoners. If they had not been freed thair fait would have been gruesome.

Imperial version of events:
Yesterday a group of terrorist took advantage of our benevolent governors trust in the people, and stole his access card while he was mingling with the public to get a feel for what they felt and thought. They terrorist then used the access card to brake in to the imperial holding facility outside town and free over two dozen criminals who was averting transfer to off-world prisons. The atrocity was no doubt planed to pay back the criminal elements in the population that give financial support to the terrorists.

Its not political correct its enhanced vocabulary.

The unlawful removal of property from one person to another is theft or stealing. Calling it industrial espionage is the belief that corporations are above the law and that its not theft. But it is still stealing and theft of property.

A spy is a person employed for the purpose of theft and stealing. Whether of intellectual property or even of information. This person is a thief. Just a government sponsored one. There are also corporate spies which would lead back to industrial spying.

Sugarcoat it all you like. Wrap the language in PC all you like. Its still taking a creature specific profession and moving it into stealing and being a city ninja.

The word stealing makes smugglers think they should do it. And your right it is still taking a creature specific profession (which belongs in a fantasy game) and moving it into a light clandestine recon spec ops unti (as a ranger is in Star Wars). Thank god its finally happened.

Oh man dont say stealing in the smuggler forums or even here. They dont steal. They arent thieves. They provide a service of being able to move materials from point a to point b without the man finding out. They do not remove said materials from the buyer without their knowledge. They may be talked about of the item. But they arent pickpockets.

No that would be us

OVERALL THEY DONT STEAL!

How exactly can it be "sploited to no end" when in fact you cant steal anything from anyones inventory, for player/player interactions the other player, a smuggler, for instance, will be smuggling something that you have to acquire. They choose to smuggle that item and know that someone can lift it. how is that "sploiting".

And acquiring intel is stealing, admittedly its intellectual property but, you are taking from those that have it and giving it to those that dont.
