I've been making money by hunting good meats for a doctor. Pays pretty well, but I'm looking for other ways. Hunting Bols can get a little boring after a while. I've done a little tracking for creature handlers and such, but never know how much to charge for this. Any help?

I have made most of my money from harvesting meat for Doctors and Bio Engr's.
To a lesser extent, hides for Armorsmiths and Tailors.

Ranger is NOT a highly profitable profession.

I have heard of plenty of other folks making money by offering tracking services, but I am skeptical of their numbers. Tracking doesn't work as well as it should, and with the money these guys claim to be making, I can't see them having many customers that felt they got their money's worth.

I would suggest trying to assess what the thing you are tracking is being used for and what profit it will bring your customer and then adjust your price accordingly. If you are tracking for CH that is going to sell this creature for 50k credits, then I think something like 10k is not out of the question.

When I see people selling Krayt Pearls and tissues for hundreds of thousands of credits, and Holocrons for millions.. I would think that if you found the resource dropper for them, 10%-15% should be the asking price. Getting 5000credits for something that will net this other person a fortune is ridiculous.

I've been making money off Baz Nitch missions on Dath, the only Ranger skill I use though is /conceal.

Yah, Ranger's can't make money without some help.

I make most of my money selling harvested resources. I was harvesting baz nitch meat for a while, and i had a BE who was paying me 30cpu for that meat. So i grabbed two baz nitch missions, killed the biz natches i saw, harvested em for their meat, destroyed the lair, got my mission reward and then sold the meat.

That i find to be the best case scenario, you can make money both ways. One from the missions and two from the harvested resources.

I have made money other ways though. I have offered my tracking skills to CH's. Sometimes a BH might want you to track down their target. I get my occasional /tell to join a group to track krayts or whatever the critter is they are hunting for the night.

Ranger is definatleya good profession when it comes to making money, and it's not as boring as sitting around crafting items. I have no problem with the crafters, my secondary character is a tailor, so when i feel like crafting i will use that char. Most of the timei'm the type of person that wants some action! thats why i find a thrill in the hunt.

Good luck to ya! Happy Hunting!

I find the best herb. meat drops of all the planets, then hunt the critters that drop the most. For awhile pikets on dant. were the best. They were dropping 125 meat per kill and I was getting 3000 xp per kill. I'd take 2 missions from the imperial outpost (pay 9k creds a piece), then hunt the 2 missions and anything else I could find nearby. At the time I was getting 15cpu.

If that's not enough money for you, find a couple friends and hunt krayt's for all their drops.

OK shameless plug I admit... but this is something I threw togehter for the scout board, and which a few others were nice enough to contribute to. You've got the Meat suggestions from the begining part down. I recommend setting up a business like mine outlined at the bottom.

I find really high quality hides, especially wooly, and also good meats, also Janta hides on Dantooine. I've also got quite a few armour segments from various animals, but there doesn't seem to be a market for them on my server.

Occasionally I lead tours for non-combat oriented people, using /conceal and taking them to visit places they couldn't ordinarily go.

I'm not rich by any means, especially not by the current standards. (Millions of credits? What is this "millions" of which you speak?) But I get by. I usually have ~100k in my bank account, and I try not to stay below that amount for long.

lets see get missions get meat.... get money from missions.... sell all meat u get..... become rich.... now i don't have these so called millions ppl have, but i usually have about 400k. good meat at 15cpu, get 10k a day and your making 150k a day from the meat and 50k from the missions.... 200k a day isn't that bad if your really working. then u track for some ppl on the side and earn some extra cash. i am currently wokring fora doc, a Bioengineer, and a chef. all constently have orders for about 10k meat a shift, so i rotate them and keep the money flowing in.

Yeah, Rangering is not profitable. My butt.

I have over 1.2 million creds in the bank. I own probably 20 weapons, scattered in my house. My harvestors run 24/7 and keep me in poly and metals. I give away more minerals than I sell. Hides/bone/meat, got a load, I give the stuff away to guildies and friends.

I will run a couple 4k credit missions, harvest, and repeat. I was grinding for pistoleer, try and get 450k in pistol on durni, so I was taking on tortur, solo, the 4k plus is all mine. When bored my commando friend and I run the 5k missions for mutated krahmurra. Run 4 in a set, 10k in your pocket, plus resources. Quite frankly, I don't hunt unless it's on a mission - you get paid for the mission and can sell the harvest, like getting paid twice.

Yeah, I am poor and destitute. The only thing I spend money on is weapons and stims, and I am making deals for stims.

I don't like to do the /ar stuff for CHs, unless they are friends, then I do it for free. Finding baby GSP all over the place too. I won't do it for holo hunters, boring. BHs - keep walking, no thanks, I do not work for y'all.

There was a thread a while back - If you can't make good money as a Ranger, you ain't trying or or just plain dumb.

Not to say we make as much as the artisans, but I am happy. And waiting to buy a swoop bike.

I usually just sell meat, as well as any segments I pick up. Let's just say, on a 3 days harvesting trip, I gathered around 15k in 3 seperate resources. (Note: I don't play too long obviously) I then ended up making 200k off that set of resources merely on good stats alone.

Really is a good idea to try and find a good solid BE or Doctor who always needs meat though, try to keep your business with a few people, but do it when they ask. That way you'll always have a good demand for resources from a business and be able to keep the money coming.

This is how to make the good money. In one week i went from 60k in the bank to 400k.

1) list the planets and the resources
ie: tat wooly
tat leathery
tat carnivore (you get the picture)

2) go to all of the planets (I just have my pa mates send me emails with the stats on the resources they collect) and make that database. I have a doc at home with the basic format and all i do is fill in the numbers.

3) Find doctor/ armorsmith friends
give them the resource list and let them pick and choose what they want

4) I find that having a set price structure or a barter agreement is the best way to do things

5) Agree on a minimum stack and a maximum payout. Believe me it sucks when you walk in with 20k hide at 20cpu and the buyer says..oh, i dont have the money for that much.

6) Take your pa mates or your friends hunting with you so they can harvest if you have ranger friends you can harvest jointly more than 100% of the critter's resources. Your freinds will enjoy the hunt, you make money (give your buds a cut its only fair) and we all get xp. It beats the hell out of "so whaddya wanna do today?"....

hope this helps

I make most of my money from the following (note - joining a guild made a world of difference for me):

a) Making factory crates of basic camps [1]

b) Selling hides to tailors and armoursmiths [2]

c) Offering my services as a tracker (Now I am tracking 4) [3]

All of this is helped by having a commando wanting to level up in flamethrower - as I do not care about weapons or combat xp and he does not care about scout xp it has good synergy, I help with status effects and he does the damage.

T.

[1] This is a good way to get rid of low quality hide and bone, but be warned you will require a lot of both and if they ever change the rules so that a CH doesn't need to camp to switch pets this market will shrink considerably.

[2] Priority is given to guildies.

[3] AVailable to hire for BH tracking Jedi or Jedi wanting to know ifa 'known' BH is nearby. Discretion guaranteed (hey I'm nuetral - I am just after the money)
