Hey Treve, selling factory crates of basic camps seems like a good idea. That actually been working for u? I don't want to seem like im gonna steal your idea, but it sounds like a great idea, since every scout can use a basic camp wetherthey pursue the profession or not. Not to mention the other professions that come from it. Hmmmm......got me thinking hehe

If you don't mind me asking, how much do you sell the crates for and whats the quanity in em?

I'm so glad you asked. It's all in the planning, grouping and advertising. On Bria we have a ranger group called Rangers of Bria. We organize hunts based off some customers. Most of them are BE, doctors, and couple AS.

We use Threads on the server forum, and people put in orders of what they want. We ask what kind of resource, what stats are they looking for, how much of it they want, and an offer of cpu. We get large orders like 50k insect meat of 900+pe and oq. So we organize a hunt with our group, and any others we invite to help for where ever the resource is good. Generaly we get get missions for the creature type, and have everyone get 2. The group has to follow the orders of the hunt master for the hunt. Our goal is to harvest and not exp, so we stick to the game plan. When ever someone needs to leave, and at end of hunt, we buy the resource from each person at the price our buyer is paying us. This means having lots of cash on hand. We colllect it all up, and drop the resource on the buyers vendor on the agree price.

We generaly get a price of 15-30 cpu on stuff. This is because of the high quality and high quantity we get for them. They are not likely going to be able to get 20k-80k of it before the next shift. We are able to do it in 1 or two hunts usually. This way the people who help us hunt and harvest get paid well, and we get paid well for what we actually harvested, and our customer is happy.

You ask profitable is this. I went from about 60k in the bank to almost one million with 2 hunts at 30cpu. Being nearly master ranger at the time I was getting good harvest amounts off the creatures. So my part of the stash would be 5k-10k units of the resource. That adds up fast. This has been very successful, we have a few regular customers that come to use about every 2-3 weeks, and the occasional new customer asking for something. We don't gaurentee anything to the customer, but we do our best.

So if you're on Bria and are a Ranger, or even a scout, look up the RoB posts on Bria forums. If you are on another server maybe check out our posts and see how do it. Start something similar on your server, put your own twist on it. Ranger can be very profitable in this way. Sure has been for us.

I generally hunt resources needed specifically for important schematics. The best ones are for medical devices as they're expendable, so the demand never goes down. This means, generally, Herbivore Meat, Avian Meat and Insect Meat. Wait for high quality stuff to shift in and go nuts. You may have to wait for it to shift out to get the best price, but usually that won't be necessary since, again, all this stuff is expended in short order.

The last gold mine I hit was high OQ/PE Insect Meat (both over 900). I put 1200 units up on the bazaar at 50 CPU. One person emailed me an offer for 20 CPU; I ignored him. Two days later all 1200 units sold, and I emailed the buyer offering her the other 6K in my inventory at 10% off. She accepted.

I'm not moving as much volume as some of the other posters in this thread but I don't play this character as much either. When I do, I usually don't use mission terminals to force lairs to spawn. I stick a pin in the map (drop a waypoint at a random distant point) and ride out tracking. I'll take a pair of missions going that way as I leave, but after that I don't want to be running back to town every 12-18 kills. Wild lairs spawn so many more creatures per lair that it's not worth it to keep running back to town. It's much more fun to stay in the wilds -- I get to avoid city-dwelling morons, too. I've probably seen more of the actual terrain in this game than the vast majority of its players.

I prefer using the bazaar to sell my resources to taking comissions. People offering comissions are trying to make contacts and lower their costs. People using the bazaar don't have contacts and are willing to pay top prices because they have to.

Not interested in hiring out as a tracker. They couldn't possibly pay me enough to make it worth my time. I suppose I'd consider it for somthing like 100,000 credits per hour, billed in 15 minute intervals with a minimum half-hour charge paid in advance.

I make all my money taking missions and selling resources I collect on those missions on the bazaar (when I'm not hoarding the better ones in my house for when somebody in my guild needs stuff). I occassionally accept orders from people who want specific resources if they send me an email with the exact resource type, what planet its best on at the time and a creature or two that drops it. I only accept these orders if they are on planets I can solo as everyone I know is too busy with the holocron mumbojumbo.

As for earning money by tracking, everyone who has asked me to track has laughed when I ask for payment for spending my time helping them out, they seem to think as a master ranger I need the xp or want to spend all my time. My tracking skills have since become for my own use and that of my guild when I'm with them.
