Thread: I am a Force-sensitive Ranger
Unfortunately it seems the only way to get skill is to use your lightsaber. O.o And the only way to use a lightsaber is to put a colored force crystal in it. Hmmm.
I'll keep you posted on how uber my camps are now. Mwahahahahaha!!!
Kekk, did you get on TC2? If not I would take it up with the devs - all corrs should definitely be on. I suggest putting skills into really good combat professions so you can get crystals. Unless they start to gie them out. Kie is a Master Art and can make you lightsaber crafting tools (anyone who reads this). The chats servers are down so you'll have to /areatrack me down in Tuskens Bane.

Let me get this right... Everybody starts with a lightsabre now?Or at least the ability to build one? So, Even as a Ranger/Rifleman I will have a lightsabre to smack things down with in order to get xp? Or am I misunderstanding that you picked boxes on TC to start "testing" instead of doing the quests to achieve those boxes....
I dont make a lick of sense there so I must say.. would you elaborate? lol
TC2 is a Jedi testing ground. Lots of people were turned into Jedi so the system could be tested. Anyone who hada Jedi on live will have a Jedi on TC2 (as long as they made a TC character to get transfered, these Jedi are meant to be at the Knight level, meaning that they should be ready for PvP testing). Anyone who logged in within a certain time period onto TC (that I missed by a matter of days) is given a Force Sensitive character on TC2. It's difficult to know exactly what they were given but I'm guessing they have Novice Jedi Padawan (i.e. the ability to make and use a training saber). As a Ranger/Rifleman, you have the opportunity to become Force Sensitive. After taking 24 Force Sensitive skills, you have the opportunity to become a Padawan. Padawans can use a lightsaber. This part of the system won't be in until the following publish (the one with the CB and FS path changes--no one is sure how this will work). Anyone who happens to be a Jedi now will get some number of Jedi skills to take after the publish. Any skill points not used up there can be used for normal skills. So it almost certainly is possible to have a lightsaber wielding Master Ranger. Hope this clears things up a bit (if not, ask again).

Sadly, my character didn't make the cut (I was off by a couple of days). Although I'm guessing a lot of IDs made it in... Let us know a little more about it when you find out. My main interests right now are to know if the experimentation bonus applies to lightsabers (assuming there is more than one experimentation tree--if so, what are they?) and if you can change your FS skills after picking up the Jedi path. Do enjoy the Jedi hood.
Well, from what I've heard from TC, Lightsabers have 2 experimentation lines (damage and efficiency). Despite knowing this, it doesn't seem like most people are actually able to make and use one (they need color crystals and crafting tools
http://swgexplorer.dras.us/tc9/force_sensitive_crafting_mastery.htm
Picking one skill actually give you the whole line. The skills I picked were:
Enhanced Reflexes - Ranged defense. Melee defense. Vehicular control. Survival. (basically master)
Combat Prowess - Ranged speed.
Heightened senses - Healing.
After you pick your six skills you get to pick 1 Jedi skill (Jedi skills are listed on the upper left side of the screeen). I picked Force Enhancement and got the Novice Force Enhancer skill.
After you pick your Jedi skill you get the rest of your skill points to distibute as you wish. FS skills do not cost the same amount of skill points as regular skills - they are much cheaper. So I had enough skill points left over to become a Master Ranger, Rifleman 2403, CH 0100.
Now I am ready to hit the galaxy. I realize my first mistake. I chose FS healing in the mistaken belief I could do force heal. Apparently FS healing enhances your existing med skills - and I have none. Bother. So I want to drop those and earn some more useful ones. Maybe Ranged accuracy. However now I need Jedi xp to learn skills. How do I get it? There was an amusing group of us in Theed, all shouting questions noone had the answer to.
Oh my God! Kie is FS too! Hmmmm. I get crafty. Literally. What will allow me to build the best sabers? I choose all the Crafting Mastery skill trees, the surveying skill tree, and the Jedi luck tree. For my Jedi skill I choose Lightsabers. If I can build good ones I want to be able to use good ones! The rest of my points I spend in Master Artisan, Master Weaponsmith, and Fencer.
I make a lighsaber crafting station. I make a training lighsaber. I try to equip the lightsaber. Nope. You need to install a colored crystal. Damn it! My second mistake becomes aparent. I have a need of uber loot and have picked two non-uber combat professions (I didn't get far up the fencer tree).
I log of Kie and check my 3rd alt. Nope. Didn't log her on in the required time period. Ah well. Two characters is amazing. Im not going to complain. I used my husbands account to create a character and it ends up a created her in just the right time window. He is overjoyed and chooses to be Master TK, Master Pikeman with combat prowess, enhanced reflexes and Jedi luck. He goes off to murder things and look for crystals. Another friends of ours from Live shows up and he is TK/Master Doctor! Ooooo. Now we have the beginnings of a really great kill team. I log on Paks and we kill things until I drop exhausted from my chair. No crystals.
So this weekend, after I get RL stuff out of the way, I have decided to leave the crystal hunting to the Monster combat types and happily try to figure out what Vehicular control is. I think my speeder goes faster. I have to train an animal and see if it works on spat mounts.
If anyone has any suggestions or advice on what or how to test I would be grateful. I feel guilty that the really great testers of the Ranger community are not on and I, who haven't tested crap in my life am. I am very willing to be guided.
Oops! One thing I forgot to mention. I am currently a Jedi Initiate. Becoming a Jedi Padawan takes 250 skill point. So you need to giveup everything to continue the Jedi path. Many players who had Jedi already immediately trained Padawan. THen realized that they had no combat skills and no lightsaber! Gah! Kie built the Jedi Correspondent the best survival knife she possibly could. I hope one of the actual TC regulars can build him something better lol.

From the way I understand it, you never pick up Jedi Initiate. Jedi Initiate is the old skill tree that they forgot to take out
. You just pick up the new trees listed on that website you have and, when all your skill points are Jedi related, you can begin the Jedi Knight trials. Those people with Jedi on Live get to put all their skill points into Jedi skills and almost certainly won't bother with the normal trees.
For recommended testing, there is a LOT you can do. But the main thing you should do is try to have some fun. Anything odd that shows up, /bug it. But I will make some suggestions of the things I would test if I had the chance (largely based on what I am interested in knowing
). Just realize that I can only base this on the information I have outside the game (like the website you gave):
- Do you need to keep all of your FS skills to keep your Jedi skills (i.e. can you drop some force sensitive skills and still keep things like the lightsaber tree)
- Do the stat mods work as advertised (can you place a camp without having Novice Scout, do you get the extra 2 points of experimentation [and for lightsabers if you can check
], do the defense mods stack over the cap [much harder to test, probably not worth bothering], do the persuasion skills really act as advertised [like can you convince NPCs that you belong to their faction], etc) - How hard/easy is it to progress as a Jedi (don't count finding the crystals but crystal decay might be good to consider). Do you have fun when levelling your Jedi and does the power level feel appropriate for the effort you put in.
- Actual skill testing is probably best left to the higher level Jedi (they are there to test the full system).
- Play as you would normally play and just report anything that seems odd or overly unfun.
Just remember to enjoy it. I wish I had the opportunity to try it out but I'll just have to wait for it to go to Live.
After reading the brief Q&A on the Jedi Revamp: Part 3 I believe the choice of opening a new slot is still available so you can build a new jedi and keep your main profession or take your main character and start him up the jedi path. I think having the 2nd slot will be most peoples choice since its best to have a money maker/fighter to go do your resource and loot collecting while people still covet their prized jedi.
Tho, I really like the idea of having ran around as KaiRaene for 6 months now prolly another 6 before jedithen people seeing me change into the jedi robes. Nice from a roleplay point of view.

Your second character can become a Jedi but they would need to do all the Force Sensitive quests again. I'm guessing that won't be as easy as grinding a couple of professions. So you will probably see most people take their main up the Jedi path and use the new alt for other stuff. And the Jedi character would still be able to keep most of his/her skills until they were powerful enough to kill whatever you needed anyway. But we'll see. Chances are that I will take my main into Jedihood and turn the alt into a Ranger.
In case people were interested in some screenshots, here are the lines that were on TC2 to try and get color crystals for sabers today (the devs were giving them out, not my screens):
Should give you some idea of the number of Jedi around (most of those people will have Jedi on Live, I expect. I doubt most of the TC regulars would want to wait in lines like that for the crystals).
