I'm a new Ranger and I see alot of Rangers posting huge number yealds and here I am collecting maybe 4 to 8ku a buff session.
My Ranger Template is
Tracker
Swordsman (still grinding)
TK Meditate
Medic 2/2/0/0
I only do hides and bone that are best for armor so depending on the mob, yeald can be even less then stated.
Should I expect to spend days on end to get these numbers or is there something I should be doing that would speed things up?

You should be useing Veghash to get more resources from the creatures, but expect to spend days on a resource if you want a decent sized ammount. As soon as it spawns start hunting, and dont stop untill it shifts out. Get buffed, hunt has fast as you can, get buffed again, continue. As for 50k-100k stacks, this could be down to a large number of hunters pooling their individual hauls together and then splitting the profits.
Of course if you are happy collecting the amount you already do, I wouldnt change a thing. I personally dont want to be hunting all the time, it would drive me nuts. So I hunt one particular good spawn for a long time, and then dont hunt for a while just using up the cash that I made. When I'm low on cash I'll wait for another good spawn (of avian meat hopefully) and go out again.

right on.. i live by this.. i cant spend all my time hunting so Imake what I need to survive(and spend... i shop like a woman >_<;;; )and wait for another killer spawn... 50k - 100k at master with a good droid and hash wouldnt take long at all, of course it really really depends on what you plan on hunting.

Consider buying a droid, a killer type or a tank/killer.
I have found using a droid shortens the time spent on a lair from 10 mins to about 6 mins. Not to mention the droid soaks up some of my damage. Quicker lairs equals more units per hour. The harvestor droid is often a joke, unless it has a combat module it runs a lot and you spend more time looking for it than it does harvesting.
Also, I like to get two missions for my chosen objective, then freelance. example - Endor Herbie is decent on my server. I get two gleaming lantern bird missions (11k per) and do those. Once done, I areatrack for other herbie droppers, mainly bol bolle. I rode out to the missions, I walk back looking for random spawn. Rarely am I disappointed. I find the worst I can do is get the harvest off the two missions, 95% of the time I triple it with what I find random.
Additionally, realize that some people will buff and go like wildmen for the 3 hours the buff is in effect. I bore too easily so I hunt the two mission set, walk in while my food buffs die and then go do something else. Yeah, I only get 3-5 k of meat in 40 minutes, but at 80cpu, who needs much more? Plus I made 22k for the missions, and did not spend an arm and a leg doc buffing.
good luck

Stacks of that size are generally due tii a week or more hunting, groups of people who pool their harvests and/or big critters with plentiful spawns.

I spend about 1 hour collecting between 10k to 20k depends in on what animal it is.
The Dantooine Carnivore Meat on Chimarea is very easy to collect in large quantities,
when a voritor dasher drops 120+, and a Voritor Hunter drops 350+.
I just take 2 missions, kill all the creatures on the first lair, hit the lair once,
kill the new spawners, and walk to the next mission. Very often i run across more
voritors on my way to the other mission. On the second mission i take down everything
including the lair. Then head back to the first mission to find 6 more voritors waiting,
and a fresh and reset lair waiting for you!
The Dantooine Carnivore meat shift is the
best i have been trough so far though.

a big stack really depends on what you're hunting and how hardcore you want to get with your hunting. If I buckle down for a full buff session of Dath leathery or carnivore meat, I'll get 40k+ in a buff session. However, not all creatures are rancors! Avain meat, for example, goes for very high prices, but is a HUGE pain to get in a reasonable stack.
Along with the other tips posted above, be sure to visit SWGcreatures.com and familiarize yourself with the highest level MOBs for a given spawn. If you want a quick-win for a big stack and don't want to waste time hunting for minimal returns, hunt the higher level stuff.
I presonally really like to hunt and don't often 'buckle down' for a hardcore night of hunting dath meat. I like to stroll through the wild using my /ar to find creatures nearby.
As has been mentioned though, get some 30-33+ veghash, get buffed, and hunt for high level mobs. Don't group because it thwarts your harvest and a droid helps too if it's a good one.
best of luck to you!

and to answer your question... it takes a while. I never get full 100k stacks on my own unless I'm really commited to the cause.
Hunt 1 spawn from the time it rotates in and don't stop until it's no longer around for ya. If there are 3 good spawns on one planet, pick one and stick with it.

What are you hunting in a buff session? It all depends on the planet and yield of the creature.
I hunted Tat herbi recently and pulled 180k or so. That was over a period of 21 days. My top was about 30k in a 3 hour period, but there were constant spawns. Otherwise, I averaged about 3k an hour when spawns were light.
On the other hand, resources on Dath or Endor are faster to get if you have a master combat profession.
You're a swordsman, so a harvest droid would just slow you down. I use them sometimes, but I'm a rifleman. (They're very efficient on rancors)
Also, even if they don't have a combat module in them, they should never run. That only happens when you're grouped with them, or if creatures like voritors hit you with an area attack. (or if you're incapped or die, then whatever aggroed you will attack the droid... but if you're on your way to the cloners, it doesn't really matter where the droid is running to).

Ok so 100ku isn't really a practical numbergoing solo.
Im going to get that Hashand keep at it then. Thanks for the great tips and clearifying what I can expect to achieve solo.

Same as what they are saying.
it really depends on what is in shift.
if you're gathering Tatooine Avian Meat, you're not going to get much at all, because very few critters drop that meat, and they are all very low level critters.
now if dathomir leathery hide spawns in, and you can handle a group of rancors beating on you, then get ready to get rich. on dathomir, just about every creature on that planet has leathery hide, so just walk around the planet killing anything in sight.
this same principle works for Lokian Leathery Hide too. if that shifts in, forget hunting Kimogilas. they might drop 600 units of hide per kill, but consider how long it takes to kill a Kimo. you're better off hunting Gurks and Snorbals. (my city is on lok, so i spend a great deal of time hunting there). a random spawn gurk lair will yeild roughly 20-35 gurks per lair, and each gurk will give you anywhere from 80-130 units of hide per kill.
and if you go out hunting, and only get a small amount, don't be discouraged. first off, you said you're a grinding swordsman, so i'd imagine your speed is relativly low right now, especially if you're using a Power Hammer instead of a Scythe. As long as you're out there having fun out there, and you're getting enough money to get by, and to get youself some nice things, that's realy all that matters.
Just go out there and have fun, because that's what being a Ranger is all about. Sure we could go out there and track down Graul Mauraders or Peko Albatrossesfor those Jedi out there, but i don't do it, because it's not fun. i'd much rather go out to Yavin, and just explore the jungles and mountains.

I have been following my rate of harvesting for a while now, since I base my prices on time spent. Off hand I can give the following reference numbers:
Endor Carni (my favourite) 10k/h
Lok Avian 4k/h
Dath Avian 4.5k/h
Dant milk (pre postmortem milking nerf) 8k/h
Since my hourly rate for all activities is 500k I have charged roughly the following:
EC 50cpu
LA 125cpu
DA 111cpu
DM 62.5cpu
Some like the scheme, some don't. Need I say I only get orders for high end stuff. I use Veghash and I am a Trando MR+TKM and I hunt buffed & armored when on a contract.

Once you master swords, you will find that getting buffed is an option , not a necessity. I recently hunted on Endor for herbivore. I was able to collect 100k in about 7 days and i never buffed to do any of it. Getting buffed really does kill some of the excitement in the game. When you hit master swordsman, pretty much any creature you want to drop , you will be able to unbuffed. I took a rancor lair out the other night just to see if i could or not and i wasn't buffed doing it. You would simply be amazed at what you can do with the combat professions if you learn the strengths and weaknesses or whatever you master.
