Okay, I proposed this idea earlier today, but I thought it'd be nice to actually get it done myself:
This thread is for all the lost Rangers. I'd like you to sign and (if possible) give the date you left, and why. Yes, you probably did that in another thread, but I would hope that this would be the "graveyard" of the Rangers, letting us see who's come and gone in our community.
I ask that people not say goodbye here (i.e. no "sorry to see you go" reply's) but to leave it open for the people who are leaving. Feel free to have another thread where people can say goodbye, I just think this should be a list so basically every post after this first one should essntially be another person who's left the proffession. It'll give us a running count that our correspondat can take to the devs and say "see? we lost another 5 people this week".
Please note that this is for non holo-Rangers. The reason for this is that we need to show that people who were in the proffession for the proffession are leaving, not just those that were trying to get Jedi. I'd like a count of how many people who loved being a Ranger have come and gone. That way, we actually see how many people are disappointed/saddened/miffed about the proffession, not just a running tally of how many people have played through our proffession.
Before I close this out, to all the Rangers who have left, we'll miss you. Don't forget this forum, and please feel free to continue posting here. Ranger is a community and a lifestyle, and you're all part of this community and this lifestyle. Don't ever forget that.

Reason:
1. No vision for this class articulated by the development team (is there one?)
2. Realization that any profession revamp is at best SEVERAL months away with major introductions in the works (Smuggler, JTL, CB, Jedipublishes)
3. Knowledge of past precident: (neglect of: DE, SL, others)

Just wanted to provide a link to the last thread like this.
Holy crap, I'm on that one too
You know, if they gave Rangers +Poison and disease resistance like another Ranger suggested, I'd come back. It would help a lot in PVE as well as PVP.

Galaxy: Chilastra
Started SWG: June 26th 2003
Became Master Ranger: Thursday, August 21, 2003, 12:40:44 AM
Date left: 1/15/2004 (around there)
Ranger Duration:Plus or minus 6 months
Reason for dropping Ranger: I had kinda just grown tired of being a Ranger.
I was working towards Medic and Carbineer the whole time I was Ranger.
When I was short skill points, I decided to let go of Ranger.
When I realized how poorly suited Rangers were in general, I hesitated to go back.
Now I'm Master Commando, Master Scout and will remain as such until Ranger is fixed.
Disclaimer and a positive note:
I was SOOO glad I was a Master Ranger when I was. To be one of the first on my server and in general. To see peoples faces when I dropped a HTFB, my chef freind LOVED hanging in it and crafting food.
When terrain negotiation MEANT something.
Before the POI's were waypoints, I ran to them all!
I saw things WAY before anyone else did.
I used to tell stories of seeing the "volcano on Lok" and knowing my friends would NEVER make it there without MY level of maskscent (before camo folks).
It was a good time and timing was everything.
I was important.

Left Ranger some 4 months ago
Left since its a profession with promise and not much else. I used no traps, no camps, and no camo. When I used /areatrack I rarely found what I was looking for. Decided to try out some other stuff to dabble in. I have enjoyed dabbling but nothing made me happier than Master Ranger. Broken tho it bed...

Galaxy: Corbantis
Date left: 03/04
Reason:
1. No real benefitfrom the Ranger skills that cost too many skill points to have. I do just fine as a 4 0 4 0 scout.
2. Hundreds of good ideas have been proposed in this forum and the only thing we got...was a trap launcher.
What I Miss:
1. I miss my HTFB.
2. The Ranger Community as a whole.

Galaxy: Ahazi
Date left: June 2004
Reason:
1. Unsatisfactory implementation with many useless skills and other shortcomings
2. NO PROSPECT OF IMPROVEMENT WITH THE CURRENT DEV TEAM PRIORITIES
I cannot but help to rant a bit:
Having been on the losing and winning side of too many budgeting battles, I can clearly visualize the dev meetings:
Dev 1: "Shall we throw rangers a bone this time?"
Team Leader: "Nah, we have to allocate our resources where they count. Let's keep focused on XYZ. Rangers will stick around, and if they don't they are a tiny percentage of user base. Plus, they never cause trouble."
Guys, you are too polite for your own good. Civil disobedience has a long and honorable history.

Left ranger and game about 3 months ago when I realized there was no hope for a fix in the forseeable future. Final straw for me was the stupid scout droids and food revamps that left us little better than a scout. My profile still reads like I was a ranger, glorifying the thrill of the hunt !
Never used traps (didnt need em as TKM). Used to track for fun on Dathomir. Best experience was tracking and finding a dark jedi master npc on yavin. Would drop master doc in a second and take up ranger again if they were to fix it.

Call me crazy, but I dropped Master Ranger and the Trapping line so I could get Dancer and Entertainment healing III. Don't ask me why exactly, but I figure I might as well enjoy this game. However I am keeping the other three lines. I may go back Master Ranger, but I figured I might as well dabble if I can.

I made master ranger 01/14/04 even posted a thread here
I gave it up in early march, ranger seems to take up alot of skill points with little benefit over master scout and it didn't look like it was going to get better. the "big" improvement during my time as a ranger? harvesting milk and yep even scouts can do that
i miss the big high tech camps mostly, tracking wasuseful but most of the other cool ranger abilities are shared by everyone else, nothing about it stands out in the game or allows you to excel at much with it.
my first holocron was master droid engineer and i figured maybe i should take a cue from that, give up the ranger thing and try crafting. crafting can be cool too but DE was insanely boring so i gave that up pretty quick after that. i have been a pretty terrible hologrinder, my second holo was rifleman and i just finished that a couple of weeks ago.
mainly ranger fits me...i just like to wander and see things but big things can kill me easy so i wantedto make my precious skill points count, make my character more viable in the game so to speak. i seem to have gone all combat of late.
the ranger forums are obviously still the best here, nothing but helpful people around, good ideas for making the profession better and not much whining. i still have tons printouts of tips and guides fromeverywhere especially fromDelta, the scout correspondant lol
