Due to recent events on Wanderhome and Kai's story about the Albatross, I have question on Hunting Ethics. Does one (or a group) finding a spawn (by spawn, I mean the initial spawn + 2 respawns) entitle them to that spawn until it dries up or is the spawn fair game at any time? There is no right or wrong answer here, I am just curios.
My personal belief is that if a Krayt (or any critter for that matter) spawns and a group/person finds it, they have all rights to that spawn x3. The same goes true for dungeons. I don't go in them if there is someone there already. I my many days of hunting, I have learned that I may be the only person on Wanderhome to use the principals.
I have a feeling for what you guys are going to say, but let's hear it

Pretty much agree with you. If see someone fighting a lair, or a spawn, or in one particular area of a dungeon I leave it alone. I don't attack critters in those situations if someone is already there, unless they ask for help, or they are about to die. In the about to die category, I usually run up slap a stim on them and hit /assist and start blasting.
On the rare occasion someone needs my help to finish something off, I just say good luck, be safe and go about my business. I don't loot or harvest or anything.
Again, I point out the nasteees poacherses of the woodses.

Well here's how I roll:
-If i come across a mission spawn I don't touch it. only exception is when the person doing the mission asks for help, I think it's a little un-rangerliketo let someone get killed.
-Wild spawns(common stuff like ikopis or womp rats)I find are fair game. If someone else is already working it I look for another one unless it's something I need at the moment, then I'll ask to join in.
-If I find an albatross or something similar and someone else is alreadythere, I'd ask if I can get the next one that spawns. If not, I'll find my own.
-What I find is mine, but I'm known to share if asked politely.

Totally agree, but we're rangers Calc so you should expect no less
I'll always check to see if anyone needs any help, even if its to keep them healed. You never know when you'll find yourself in the same situation and theymaybe able to repay the favour.

I completely agree that the person or group that finds the spawn has complete rights to every instance of that spawn. But, since you bring up krayts, that brings up an interesting dilemma. As many of you already know, it is possible to lead a krayt out past its regular spawn radius in order to "trick" the server into thinking the krayt had spawn hadn't occurred. This allows clever players to theoretically find a single spawn of krayts and farm them all day long, as the spawn produces not just three/four krayts, but sometimes as many as a dozen. Given the value of pearls, it's no wonder that some would find a way to work around the system.
This is, quite clearly, is not what the devs intended and is therefore an exploit. I've been confronted by other players about attacking krayts on a few instances when nobody else was nearby (as they had pulled a krayt off into the distance and were busy fighting it) and after my group and I had killed it, we were accused (ironically, I might add)of "screwing up the spawn." Had they not been exploiting the spawn to begin with, the second krayt wouldn't have spawned anyway. So, I don't feel we did anything wrong by attacking it, as the other pair of players had left the area- that's right, only two people working together on one krayt, which certainly wasn't intended either, but given the power of doctor's buffs and high quality armor is still possible. You can't call dibs on a spawn that you've abandoned.
Secondly, who can really say that one group's "farming"of the same spawn over and over using this exploit isn't going to mess up the rest of the spawns in the graveyard? I know I've seen multiple spawns of krayt dragons at once in the graveyard, but given the rarity of the mob, I still think it's safe to say that one's chances of finding a different spawn are less than they would be if that one spawn weren't being farmed continuously.

I think most of us here knows the difference between a mission spawn and a wild spawn. (A mission Spawn will say what type of lair it is, ie a kaadu lair, a nightspider lair. A wild spawn will say a pile of rocks, a dead tree ect.) If its a mission spawn I leave it alone, if its a wild spawn its fair game as I see it. If a person(s) is already ingaged with a lair whethers its a mission or wild spawn, its theres. I feel I have no rights to just jump right in unless asked. Same goes for when I am on a lair. I feel that this belongs to me. I will ask for help if needed.

My spawns are like my booze:
With close friends, I'll share openly...
with people I don't know, I'll share upon request
with people I know but don't like, I'll share upon grave request
if I end up with too much, I've been known to ask for help finishing....
if you help me finish part, I'll help you with the rest

My methods are exactly like Bartholomew_Roberts, except for the fact that sometimes I unintentionally neglect to check if the lair is a mission spawn or not (but, I am getting better).
What drives me nuts is when people will fly through a spawn I'm working and drag the critters on top of me! No problem when I'm maskscented/concealed, but, being the Rifleman I am,I have to back off another 64m and continue. I don't mind observers, but don't mess with my hunt.
Oh yeah, if I'm hunting on contract or for guildmate, I rarely share. (unless the person has a Scout/Ranger title showing <grin>

Now THIS is a topic for discussion.........I agree with you Calc...
Now more on ethics.....I am seeing a noticeable increase in mission stealing. I even caught a fellow Master Ranger (not of my guild)stealing one of my groups missions. They killed all the critters and left the lair smoking and empty. That is unacceptable. I preach the moral conduct or Hunters Ethics to my guilds hunters. I think it is one or the lowest things you can do. I also believe it is our (as the Ranger/Scout community) to educate our fellow non-hunter players as to what is and what isnt a mission spawn.
There is also (within the dungeons) the ever popular loot campers. I dont believe a player should be able to login and out of a dungeon and once you loot a dungeon, you shouldnt be able to loot it again for 48-72 hours. All campingdoes is ruin the gameplay and content for the rest of the player base. It is a form of griefing in its own right.
There needs to be more than one spawn at a time for Krayts (depending on number of players in the area) so that you dont have those loot mongers hogging all the fun and loot. It is dang near impossible to find one that isnt already taken. They should be added to the mission terminals.
Back to the dungeons.......In the ever new online game called City of Heros (COH) when a group goes to a dungeon or similar area, and another group shows up, they can both begin the dungeon at the same time because they are kind of on different planes of reality upon entering the dungeon. It is like being in different dungeons. They never see one another, they cant steal each others kills or loot, all the baddies are allocated to that group. When they all (both groups) exit the dungeon, they are all back on their original plane of existence and can interact again with each other again like normal. This does two things...it prevents loot camping and allows for full emersion within the content. Why cant something like this be done?
Just my take on these subjects.

I. HATE. Poachers.
I am a pretty easy-going wookiee but poachers enrage the HELL out of me. I had the misfortune to end up in a guild FULL of poachers (long story) and no matter how nice they were outside of the hunt I never had any respect for them whatsoever. I stayed because of four close friends (one of which was my spouse) and a dislike of quitting. Needless to say it ended badly with tears and blood and people running into the night. So I have a lot of baggage when it comes to poachers.
1. Never attack a mission spawn.
2. Never attack a lair that someone is working on.
3. I never really thought about dungeons. On the easy ones, if someone is obviously soloing I would wait until they were gone. On the more difficult ones I would make sure not to attack the same nightsister or super battle droid. I agree with a previous poster that campers are a problem. I would probably not feel so bad stealing an Ackley from a group who is obviously camping the spawn.
4. Immediately leave a group if they begin paoching and ream them for it.
If it is someone I don't want to hurt I'll use the RP reasoning. For a wookiee ranger the honor of the hunt is everything. I cannot soil my clan name by poaching. If it is someone who has annoyed me I'll tell them straight out that poaching is bad form and that I find poachers disgusting. (That one never goes over too well lol)
5. Educate every new player on how to tell a mission spawn from a wild lair and instill upon them a respect for the hunt, for their fellow players, and for themselves.
6. On huge fights I would offer my help and make sure to group before firing a shot. The frst person there always gets first harvest/loot.
These are things that the Master Ranger Gumara taught me when I was a baby scout trying to survive Dathomir for the first time. If I ever forget these rules (and I have. twice.) I really feel like I do not have the right to wear my tag. Gumara stopped playing before I made Ranger and so I think of him as my blue glowy. Remembering his calm, no-nonsense code of ethics keps me honest and a true Ranger.

I pretty much agree with the views espoused here, so I do not have anything else to add.
