that ranger while they would have the combat mods. There would be no specials at least at this point there are none.
your thoughts?

I think the traps and stealth ARE our combat specials, just like the weapons are the commando specials. So I never really gave much thought to weapon or unarmed specials. I don't feel all that bad that there are none at this point. Stealth attacks, within the current system, may be overpowered if specific specials are created. I think gaining first strike with steath is a HUGE special in and of itself. Any new combat specials would be a bonus to me at this point.

That's the way I see it too. Would love to see what our combat mods they are working with now.

Well, technically, they didn't say we wouldn't get them.. They just said they weren't currently planned.

if our traps work against any target, I'm all for not having specials. But seriously, if Rangers can't use their traps against creatures, yeah, we need at least 2 or 3 specials to give us some fuctionality in all aspects of the game.

Yeah, if they get the traps working, I'm completely content without any specials. Maybe decrease trap throw timers at Master Ranger, but just gimme my traps in working condition.

Following the lines of Commando and Squad Leader. No offensive specials in either of them, but when used with brain, even the old version is helpful.

And a great many people are hoping they will change their minds. If we aren't getting weapon specials in the Ranger tree, our traps had best be able to affect any target. Otherwise, we're back where we started, except backwards.

if you want to hunt critters you no longer need ranger just master scout, so i dont get your arguement. people need to disassociate scout and ranger they are 2 different proffesions now.

I like hunting people, i am not fussing about it one way or the other simply want to disscuss the issue. though personaly I would like a few specials perhapes a root or something to help with being able to evade , and a few attacks as well.

That argument holds no water. I could be a Master Scout, Master Commando; I'd be able to use rocket launchers on durni and krayt alike. I could be MS and Master Bounty Hunter; I could use the special abilities for my weapons on kreetles and rancors. I could be MS and Master Smuggler; they've got specials that aren't restricted to creatures, aren't restricted to NPCs and aren't restricted to players. As it stands right now, MS and Master Ranger V2 will not be able to use traps on creatures, and are not slated for any specials. It doesn't matter that Scout and Ranger are no longer the same-that isn't the point. The point is that the devs are making the same mistake in reverse as they did when they made the traps for Scout and Ranger in the first place. Traps that could affect a krayt ancient should have been able to affect NPCs and players, and traps that can explode killing stormtroopers or rebels should be able to kill nunas.
