um, good attatuide, but I'm trying to figure out what the post has to do with the thread title....
For those of you guys who are just tuning in...
There will be one scout branch and the carbine branch in marksmen as the new pre-req's for being a ranger...
Well said. I've been master at melee and master at ranged. There is a major differance in playstyle. My personal choice will always be melee. I was a rare breed as a Ranger and am now a rare breed as Melee. Just can't seem to do the FOTM. *shrugs*

That's whats happening to melee Rangers now, and I think calling them pissy because they don't want to be forced to switch weapons to stay effective is like me chopping off one of your arms and telling you to stop crying because they have prosthetics. If you're attached to something (melee combat or your arm for example) no replacement will ever be quite the same.

Everyone has a right to express their opinion on this matter. Doing so does not make one "pissy". I've played as long as you, and in the end, that time means nothing. There are probably several melee Rangers who've played as long as you who're not going to be so easy to convice that this is not a big deal. Point is that it's always easier not to complain when the change is okay for you, but for melee Rangers, this is no small deal. They have to decide between sticking with Ranger and gimping themselves in the process, or lose out on being a Ranger and having stealth.
Just because you're not upset doesn't mean that nobody else can be or should be. Seeing as how you're a ranged toon, this change is easy to swallow. If you were currently a melee ranger and had NO intention of playing a ranged character, how would you feel. Perfect example-- how would you feel if the devs one day said that lightsaber were going to be removed (or alternatively, if you're a power jedi, how would you feel if they removed powers)? Wouldn't you feel like you were being forced to pick a way of doing damage that your didn't want? I know I would.

After the CU I was playing around alot with Carbines because their mezzing capabilities complimented traps very well.
Ultimately - because I'd spent so much on tapes and rifles - I stuck with my Ranger Rifleman template. I have a very large amount of money invested in my rifles and parting with them will be very sad.
Count me among the Atkins Rangers - no carbs.
I wouldn't say require Rifle instead - don't get me wrong. I'd rather see something that fits the professions goals but also gives the Melee folks a chance to participate.
