I feel like i have to say something so a had a few cold ones so here i go.Ive been a Range for a long time now thats all i ever have been.i started this game as a Scout so i could become a Master Ranger.and i did not grind Scout and it took me a long time but i got it done.didnt think i would ever get Scout done but when i did i was so happy i did it. then i worked on Ranger didnt grind that either took me awhile but i got Ranger done too.i am so happy being a Master Ranger.i love the Ranger way of life.and i really like being the only Ranger walking around MO or any other place with lots of people.there isnt very many of us but i like that.once in a great while i would see another Master Ranger and we would talk Ranger stuff knowing we both had each others respect for haveing to go through the whole Scouting and Ranger thing and we worked for it.then we would both go are different ways knowing we would both run into each other again some time to say hi and to visit with one of the few friends of the Ranger Brotherhood.

But now my sever as scouts popping up like rabbits there everywhere.and the keep asking me if im going to be a BH.i know alot of you wanna be MR/MBH and thats fine.but if i wanted to hunt Jedi i would of been a BH when i started the game.im just not happy thinking MO is going to be full of Rangers who didnt work for it like the rest of us did and giving Rangers a bad name.Ragers are the best people ive always helped other Rangers and they always have helped me this forum as the best people in it .i think we all understand what we have been through and respect eah other.now these new Scouts are going to be Ranger over night and the will be all over the place and they are not going to show any respect to any other Ranger or none Ranger.well my cold ones are just about out of my system so i gotta go i didnt mean to upset anybody but thats how i feel.and now i feel better thanks

Not to mention the space bar. But more on topic, after you get some sleep, do you really want Ranger to become such an Elitest group like BH and Jedi are now? Do you really want people saying "I've been a ranger since 1845 back when we had to use a hand crank generator!" I personly don't. But to each their own!

On a more on-topic note, I feel where you're coming from, CH was my first elite profession, Ranger my second. However, there is often a tendency for more veteran players to have this kind of attitude (which can really annoy newer players). On the other hand, the new ranger will be a completely new profession, the old ranger will be dead. So on that note I really understand your lament.

Here is my take on the ranger "boom". There are a lot of people, including myself, who were knowledgeable about the paramilitary rangers in the Star Wars universe. When the rangers in the game were not like that, we moved on to other things. Now that rangers are being revamped to something resembling the rangerorganizations in the Star Wars context, a lot of us are coming back. I've always wanted to come back to ranger, but I wanted to come back to something that fit the Star Wars mold.

Within days after the Squad Leader revamp was announced I saw alot of Field Commanders and Tacticions walking around. Admittedly, it bugged me. Whether I'm right or wrong in what I feel it just bugged me, and I had no justification for my anomosity and no real goodreason why it did. It's just natural, all the work you put must have put into ranger, all the travels and hunts and testing of different things. You get over it though and it eases a bit when you get to help new people out. There doesnt have to be a good reason for it, we're just human.

What does anger me though are born again SL's who try to tell us what's best for our profession. No idea where they came from but they have to object to every little bit of feedback andopinion, though we wonder where they were with their feedback and testing when the revamp wasnt even mentioned. Don't sweat it too much, they mentioned more profession revamps in the stratics hoc so I'm sure alot of folks will drift away eventualy.

I expect to see alot of Ranger tags running around. In fact, a friend IRL read the revamp proposal stuff, he went gah gah and started rattling off all these great template combinations he could have and how it will rule in PvP. It is inevitable.

Sadly, I am going to cave and get MBH to supplement my MR. It brings my character idea closer in line with what I originally wanted. But, as I do not care for PvP, I have no interest in Jedi hunting. But the profession has such a bad name, I expect my Jedi friends to give me a wide bearth (sp?).

I hope the revamp doesn't give Ranger an equally bad rep.

Iconic professions. Ok. Chewbacca was a Scout. How come that didn't stay?

When you think about it, aren't almost all of the original professions iconic? You can find something on each of them in the Expanded Universe.

I miss being a Ranger. It was more than a profession, it was a virtual way of life. It wasn't for everyone. But those who took it up became family.

Who cares if there is a Ranger boom or not? There is going to be a SL boom as soon as those changes go live.

The BH boom is still on, but again, whats it matter, there is also a boom in CMs..big whoop

There as been a Jedi boom going on since Pub 9

who cares what people think the FOTM is..play what you want to play. DOnt be a sheep and act like the FOTM dictates in any way what you are supposed to play.

besides its just simple minded to be chasing FOTMs anyway.

There is no making you people happy. If you ARENT the FOTM you moan and groan about being ignored. IF you suddenly become FOTM, then you moan and groan because you dont become magically l33t because of all the others with the same template.

Its taken 2 years for Ranger to become something more than a scarcity, dont moan because it becomes popular at long last.

Many a Ranger Boom there has been.

Often they come. Some stay long do not.

When people realized Rangers could track the Hero Quests... Ranger BOOM!

When people realized Rangers could track players (specifically Jedi) ... Ranger BOOM!

When the CU occured... Rangers went boom. but not in the good way.

Don't worry too much, the profession has always been one of the most mature. Those that dedicate their time to the profession are always happy to help and critical of poor behaviour. The reality is SWG has always encouraged these strange booms by not tying caracters to templates or professions. It's just par for the course.

I do dread the day that i'm not going to be the only Master Ranger in my guild of over 100 members. I know that's kinda silly, but It's nice being the only one and always reminding everyone in guild chat how much the devs hate me and how broken i am, but oh, look at the purrrrty HTFB!!!! /drool

Rangers are moving into the highly skilled special operations arena. Highly trained elite professional operators.

These new skills aremore Military\Special OPsrelated than bouny hunter related.
