unless you are grinding camps to get xp, then probably not much .....

even then it's only an extra button push every so often to kick of the crafting macro again.

Funnily enough it will probablt affect the ATK entertainers the most - I recall when I was a musician that I had some complex macros for songs which called other macros and looped .....

Still - it'll be interesting to see what happens when the change comes in

Mmmm.... good and bad. Not sure I want a game feature such as this to be removed for the sake of forcing ppl to stay on the computer. You all (note that there was no contraction there Calc ) know me, I'm not a fan of blowing through a profession but some of those professions just are not doable in "novice" form yet, so I inderstand the desire to do it.

No, can't say this is the best way to do this... I say just end the FS slot now, period, no more Jedi till pub 10 and the "quests". Let everyone know that doing all professions won't help, just pick the ones you like to play. Would be nice if they just up and gave us the one extra toonto play with now, but none have force powers till the "new" unlock.

The database space is supposed to be there any way... and maybe the cantinas will be a bit more personable then... just a silly thought...

Hi all

Dont think it will inpact the Ranger comunity to much.Seems like grinding is more or less absent here(except for a few campgrinders)

Personally I never grind,and the onlymacros I use,are the loot/harvest,and/dismount;/areatrack or maskscent;/mount.Pretty standard really

...track me if u can...

Macros are for morons - well, the grinding macros anyhow.

The vast majority of Rangers don't macro - as it's a waste of time and the profession is too much fun to waste time grinding.

Yeah, big deal if the harvest macro gets taken down a notch. Two clicks instead of one to harvest and loot. Or, look in help and do an alias, or map keys to certain functions.

I think this will have little to no impact on Rangers - except for the moron grinders who don't realize how much fun they are missing.

Its only the recursive macros (macros that use a command to start the macro over again from the beginning) that are going away, not macros in general. So you can still have a macro for

/harvest (target);
/loot all;

You just can't add the repeat command in so that you are harvesting/looting non-stop (which would be annoying I think). People who macro grind camps can still do so, they just have to click to manually restart the macro when it is finished. So one more click is all.

What this will do is end (or make more difficult) the repeating spam macros in the starports (force people to use droids instead of afk bots), and also end the afk buff botting of doctors and entertainers, and the afk macroing of squad leaders, resource samplers, tumblers, and loot campers.

A good thing in my opinion.

As Fred hinted at, I have very strong feelings about this, but I think it is both good and bad. There are some things that certainly should be lopp macroed IMO, and the highlighted section is on of them. I have started playing on TC quite a bit, and I would not be anywhere without the afk sampling of resources; I can't afford to buy resources andI can't afford to run harvesters all the time (thank goodness I have some great help).

Back to the main issue here....buffbots, which is the the main cause for this change IMO,were certainly detrimental to the Ent andDoctorprofessions (maybe not as bad as some people made them out to be). FWIW, I will tell you that the Ents were NOT pushing to remove the recursive macros. They wanted a more interactive, and therefore non-macroable, way to use their professions.

As far as impacting the Ranger profession...I can think of no impact thischange has to us.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Over all, not going to affect me or my style of play. The one thing that I find amusing/sad is that SOE let the genie out of the bottle by creating a system that rewarded the power-gamer/power-grinder and alienated the role-player/explorer. Now thatthe error in judgementhas become all too obvious to them, they begin swinging to the other extreme.

Ialways thought Jedis should be rare, and based on some form of quest hat covers a multitude of playing styles. I agree that they should simply disable the Jedi system as it now exists, and spend time developping a system that rewards all players instead of just one subgroup.

The subject of the thread proves true, but I think if SOE put a little bit of effort into it, they could get a much better percentage of people happy with a change, then they currently do now.

oy...they're starting a petition to get this out of the game on the GCW forum....

how exactly recursive macros are important to a civil war that encompases multiple galaxies is beyond me, but apparently people don't realize that there are more than AFK entertainers. And ents will actually make money since you know they're there...and they know that you know...no more buff stealing or heal stealing. My oh my, what a horrible idea. /snicker

Don't think it means anything to us. Biggest thing I see it effecting Ranger directly, is if people macro for crafting our traps/camps. But doubt very many, if any, of us do that much crafting of ranger/scout thing. It won't effect me at all, except for the free double master afk bufbot entertainers I got to love. But oh well.

Fred, they stopped the holo grind back at publ 9. No more master professions are being accepted I think, and for sure the holos are all turned off. At publish 10 it will all be shut down of course, thank Yoda.

nope I have a buddy that went through all of them. The holo's are turned off, but mastering all profs gets you a message "You feel the force flowing through you. Your new character will be unlocked after publish 10"
