Thread: Are camps redundant now?
They heal health and wounds of yourself, people inside the camp and pets.
But at a very very slow rate.
The field base also has a crafting station for food/chemical, which honestly isn't going to be worth anything to most rangers (I admit there are exceptions); the HTFB adds a general/equipment crafting station, which rangers CAN use to make manufacturing schematics for traps/camps/camo, and experiment on camo.
If you are factioned and are enabled as Special Forces, you can use the camp terminal in the HTFB to requisition faction supplies: weapons and something else I don't recall at the moment. I don't know if it's exclusive to the HTFB (probably is).
The higher camps, set up in the right places, draw onlookers from all around, too.
Find the highest, pointiest hilltop you can and stick a HTFBK on it, most of the time you will end up with a tall circular column with your camp neatly pirched on top.
A friend had a house over looking the Lake Retreat. I walked down the hill in front of his house a way until I was able to erect a HTFBK camp. Then my friends house was overlooking a small sheer cliff, with my camp at the bottom

they are kinda good for GCW group preperation, as a factionally aligned ranger's field bases can appear on theplanetary map under the appropriate faction tab...
plus, it's just need to see "<your name here>'s Camp" on themap...

Now, THAT'S a handy detail to know! Gonna have to remember that if I should go factional again someday....

The HTFB's heal at about 144 points an hour and they do have the Weapons crafting station which is nice. Often I'll drop onto a planet with no camo and the first order of business is to whip up a few kits. With the HTFB at hand you can experiment on the kits and often double the number of charges over what you could craft with just the Weapon crafting tool.
Beyond that, I just like them and I suppose where or not you need them depends on your definition of need (or general utitlity). I don't really need twenty-seven rifles. I don't really need a BARC and a Naboo Speeder and an AB-1 all with custom paint jobs. I don't really need one set of clothes when I'm flying mission and another for hunting on Endor. I don't really need a Varactyle, a Bantha, and Dewback (Bach, Brahms, and Berlioz). But as a part of playing the game, dropping a camp everytimeI bed down (log off) for the night or putting them up when I stop to talk to friends or help out a new player, all of these I really do need to make the game interesting and not just another "todo" list item at the end of the day.
Good hunting and clear skies.
Sadly they do not let them Store the pet after combat as quickly. You must wait the full "Fall-Behind-So-You-Always-Miss-The-Start-Of-The-Next-Mission-Period"
They are a 'rally' point, some times folk's like to take a break (it's really not all about grinding).....I am the first one in...last one out...I make a camp so we can take a break in the wilds, while on our hunt'n spree's. I am a Ranger, I hunt critterrs easy..........w-Imp-s fear me (npc only...i know the bad boys pwn me
).
Anyway, its fun be'n a Ranger, no matter what.
