Hmm... interesting point Calc. But shouldn't they 'see' the dots on their radar if they've spawned on the server, and just not rendered on the player's screen? That would be a good test.... although I'm not sure it's worth the time to prove it.
*snip*
Maybe there is a sync issue on the client side? But you bring up a good point...I can always, and I mean always see a critter spawning out of a lair on the radar BEFORE it renders on my screen. I have seen this with natural spawns as well (not lairs, just spawns that pop up whenI am travelling). They show on the radar before they show on my screen. This is nice, cause it gives you a grace period in which to prepare yourself.
I an sticking with a sync issue as far as why I can see something that has spawned and my bud can't.

I'll make this brief! LOL
Hunting AVIAN on YAVIN.....its hot.
So, today I wander about 3200 clicks from the LO trying to get away from the madness. Find a couple spawns and start hunting. 2 guys come up and say its thier mission. I reply roger that and tell them Im off and sorry I thought I was far enough out. We chat a little and all is good!
Its getting close to work now and I head back pick up some missions with friends and we head out!! Party of 5 so 10 missions!!! I come up on the first mission and this guy has tapped it out! Wow I say! He man thats our mission please dont do that! He says all is fair in LOVE and WAR! Well I do know this is a game and everyone wants the AVIAN!! But, there is an un-written law!! Off we go and 2 missions later there he is doing it again! Now I am mad. Dude what gives...he says well every time he goes to his missions some one has done it to him so hes going to do it.
Pffffftt I say no more.....he goes 75 clicks away and starts killing another spawn....well now Im going to make a point...I go over and HS3 everything and harvest the whole 1st wave and I ask him how he likes it. He replies but its my mission......oh no he didnt say that!! I go on to say see how it manifests and my wrong didnt make it right!!
So, thinking this is getting ugly I invite him to join our groupl and hunt with us!!! He says no he is part of a solo group already.......ok.......you sure!! Well we talk a little while and I ask him to help up hold the code!
This is were it gets good...he says no and his other TOON is a JEDI!! I say whats that supposed to mean! He says what ever you want it to!!

I know this is long, but my point being do you have the same problems on your servers?
Let it be known I tried twice to go out deep and track and only found 3 spawns in 6 hours between the mining outpost and labor outpost. I also did an entire loop around the map...on foot. I think it ties into the # of spawns happening as missions and everyone only doing AVIAN.

If a lair is someone's mission it says the name of the creature on it... like "A Gurreck Lair".
If it's a natural lair, it says something like "A Nest" or "Brambles" or "A Mound".
We don't really have much of a problem with this on my server, since people generally learn this little bit of trivia early on.

I've seen it on multiple servers. It doesn't seem to matter which server, there are always bad apples. I just try to ask nicely first, then if they give me a problem I ignore them. It does suck though, I know what you're saying.

Odd. Missions don't spawn unless the "owner" is close enough to make it spawn. I was in a group, one guy went LD and his missions did not spawn until he came back and joined up with us. The light was there, no lairs. Mission spawn range looked to be under 100 meters too.
So, unless you had a cluster of missions, or this guy was following you....
Oh yeah, your capslock appears to be stuck on too.

I have learned that anything goes in this game. Being 'anonymous' brings out all of the bad in people. My favorite incident was when a frienfd and I were hunting on Endor. We hadarachne missions and got to the lair and started killing away. Next thing you know, a TKA and his partner come by and start killing our lair and spawns. I told him that was our mission and askied him (politely) to move along
. He actually said, 'I am just after the xp.' Say what? No crap you are after xp...go find your own darn critters to kill to get it. FWIW, he was an Imp (oooooohhhhh....low blow
).

strangely enough I've had more lairs stolen by imps than by rebs... not sure if it's the "evil" associated with the empire, or if the empire just draws more jerks or what, but since I'm not an Imp, I have no idea if they would have been stealing my lairs if I was.

FYIW--- For your internal wabbit??
Anyway yeah, I've had this happen to me too. I was hunting Peku's when someone comes up and kills my lair (luckily I had taken out all the spawn already. I tell this person to go find their own missions, please. I then find a few nice random spawn (it was obviously not a mission spawn). THE SAME GUY comes over and yells to me "These are MY lairs, you %!@%!%!%...I then politely inform him that these are nobody's missions. For his information, missions lairs have names like "Giant Peku Peku lair". He proceeded to ask me if I wanted to duel. I killed every bird I could, took my avian meat and left. Some people just like lying to make creds.

Manners schmanners....
I'm playing Devils Advocate here, bear with me.
/AreaTrack brings me to someones spawned mission ('Rancor Lair' vs. 'Pile o Rocks').
I look around (256m on the radar), no one is in the area... I destroy the lair, and harvest my resources.
This is the way SOE made areatrack work, I use the skills I'm given. If that truly is someones mission spawned lair, they got the money because they were close enough for the lair to spawn, and are only inconvenienced by needing to run back to the outpost for a new mission.
RESULT: SOE needs to make a "/track" command spawn the creatures we are searching for.... and/or only show us non-mission spawn in /areatrack.

Hmmm - can't help but think that the "true ranger" solution to this is to go so far out in the boonies that the munchkins are miles away (works for me at least!).
Would depend a lot on how you operate though.
I suspect this is happening a lot more often ATM with the 2 week trial thing - lot of people out there just don't care about getting a bad reputation since they'll play for free then drop. Long term players tend to be more polite since more of them are thinkingabout reputations and the like(this is a horrible generalisation though- some people are always going to fall into the "perpetual pillock" category).

Its sad, but when there's a hot hide or meat around....
kill stealers abound, and when theyre combat stacked... we just cant beat them.
(once again scout skills should represent superior hunting skills)
im off my soap box now
