Thread: A QUESTION of HUNTING MANNERS

I have had a strange turn in the "fight for lair supremacy". Once there was this pair taking out my Enraged Rancor lair. I paid them no mind and proceded to work the lair of this type as I usually do, HS3 as fast as possible so that they don't hit me, but having themthere I had no worries of that. Most of the time, however, they did not have to worry ether. I still got all thehide and when they finally figured out what happend they go "D&mn, I didn't know it was you. You want the money back for the lair?" Nope, I didn't; adding up quickly the 12 enraged rancor hides (325 each, 3900 units) and the 15Cr/U I charge for a triple 900 quality type (3900 * 15 = 58,500 cr) I explained the 38k to 12k drop is not going to bother me at all.

Hopethey were notthere for the experience . I've become famous on my server and peeps don't steal my lairs when they know it's me comming now

Once i learned the named lairs thing. I never hit one again. Just realized it was someone elses and theres always more to kill somewhere.

Stark,

If we got it so that /track spawned a lair. We would go wild with it. It would create to many rangers

Lol... /track creating too many rangers? I don't think you need to worry about that too much, as many people like the uber combat / PvP thing.... and Ranger definately exempts you from PvPing (too much).... Let Ranger be the FOTM (flavor of the month) for a month or two.... fine by me, if that's the only price (+$15) I have to pay.

Someone probably said this, but any lair that says a name of an animal, is a mission lair. If it just says, "nest" "warren" "pile of rocks" something like that, its a natural spawn.

This only purtains to you knowing what is fair game.

yes, we have that problem on our server at times, on some planets. My hunting friends and I call it poaching.

Hmm maybe this could be a Ranger TEF system. If someone starts doing damage to a lair that is a mission lair, and not theirs or one from their group, they get a TEF against anyone with Ranger. Novice, master only, in the middle? I don't know.

But again, the system is there. Same way Jedi get a TEF against them from BH or opposing faction. Or maybe it can be as in depth as BH/Jedi system. The more times you attack lairs that are not your's you start getting "poaching points" At some point, with so many points, you show up on a ranger poaching terminal. Or maybeboth ranger poaching terms, and BH terms? This would at least make it so we can use our /areatrack for players. Heh heh.

That sounds great, actually! The big problem is when the stackers are the poachers (which I assume is always the case ).

I know, I had the same thought as I wrote it Calc. I was thinking, 1. CB might make things a bit more level grounded. 2. When ever we get a revamp, might get some cool stuff like /stealth or /sneakattack where we can use tactics to our advantage. And also why I thought of adding it to the BH terms. So they can help nail these poachers, or you can get a BH friend to help you. I got a BH friend that hunts with me, and hates "poachers" and would love to help out.

We could take this the BH and see what they think. I don't see them arguing. They want Player bounties. As it is, GreenMarine (our Dev) is thinking of making player bounties in the smuggler revamp. Sooo maybe again using an existing system, and a dev that already worked on it for smugglers, to do it for us. heheheh it all falls together.

Track creating Rangers means this. If we know that Tat nunas are giving 400cpu avian meat. We would just sit out in the middle of nowhere and cause lairs to spawn. It would allow us to gather a lot more of a resource then I think they mean us to.

Just to be the devils advocate myself, lets not assume that /track will spawn lairs. The way I read it in Q3PO's Ranger Feedback post, it sounds like a single creature. Which is nice and all, but if you are hunting to harvest the resources for money, as most of us do, then that will be very slow compared to missions and lairs. But we will have to wait until we get that developed before we can start asking about it.

The only time I really got mad at some poachers was when I got to both of my missions just as they were finishing them up. After the second one they started sending me /tells saying that at least I could say thank you for them doing my missions for me and that a /tip once in a while wouldn't hurt. I don't know if they were being serious our just deliberately trying to get my goat. All I can say is they defineately managed to anger me.

One common tactic that some poachers use too is if your lair spawns aggressive mobs, they drive right through the middle of them to get them to aggro, then drive away 400m and kill them all. grrrr.

The more content the BH's get the happier it will be..

Think of it as someone violating the hunting licenses and hunting out of season.. and how only contracted hunters are allowed to go after certain lairs of "dangerous creatures"

Woot, mentioned in the ranger forums again..

Yes, I can't stand the poachers... I deliberately go to low occupancy areas for my missions and my hunting, just to avoid other players as much as possible.. When I hunt there is a purpose behind it, be it XP for killing, money from the lair or resources to resell.. a poacher affects my livliehood and only gets one warnoff before I am irritated with them....

It would be nice if I had /taunt but I am tempted to train up the /rescue line in ranger in addition to the other ranger stuff I have just so I can pull "my" creatures back to me...

No I wont "train" a MOB on them, but I will do everything in my power to prevent them from stealing from me.. even if that means using warningshot to chase off all the spawn, or spamming specials full tilt to outdamage them .. but a TEF against them would certainly be nice.. or to be able to pull a bounty even nicer (I love the XP for bounties too )

yea, I think that I have been more annoyed by the MY MISSION! MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE! people then the other way around. I'm a ranger so I hunt. Mission shmission, I see an animal I kill it. When someone tells me politely that I'm ruining their mission I apologize and back off, but that's not usually the way it happens. Usually I get barked at by some hostile maniac (usually rebel, lol) and I just blow em off, and watch em blow their top, lol. It's good entertainment value actually. "No! wait!!!"...No habla Engles! blam blam blam blam blam... KABOOOM muahahahaha

And I've actually used the whole "mission stealing" thing to my advantage too. In my noob toons what I'll often do is draw the nastiest, meanest, most impossible missions I can, travel out there, watch em spawn, the logout. The next day when I log in "dum dum dum dum congratulations on completing your mission! here is your reward!" lol.

LOL yea I forgot about rescue. I'm doing that next time. /rescue, and try to get the beast to follow me. I don't even care if I kill it, so long as the poacher is annoyed. hehehe.
