Thread: Is Camping In Front of Bridges Just Outside of Cities Considered an Exploit?
The only problem that I have with people camping at the end of the bridge, is when they set up there camp in a way that makes you get stuck on the tent. Setup to where as people run through your camp is just creative gameplay. but making people get stuck as they are running over the bridge is just rude.
just my 2 cents

It sucks that there are no roads in the game to camp along and pick up the occasional passer by for a quick supper, some wound healing, and a little conversation.
Man people sure get upset about stuff easily. If it was an exploit, and people have done this for a long while now, it would have been long ago. SOE jumps the fastest on exploits and people who use them.
IMO it is not an exploit. I know the bridge you are likely talking about, and it isa little close to the city for setting up camp. But if you can set one up, then its not our fault of that, and if you are smart enough to put it in close enough to the bridge to get the "visitors" then thats just being a smart player.

Technically, anytime you take advantage of a bug in the game to gain an unfair advantage, you are exploiting. People have been banned for things like credit duping and multi-slicing and all sorts of things in PvP. In almost all the cases that I can think of, it has been someone exploiting a bug that allows them to do something they shouldn't be able to do to gain an unfair advantage and in addition, it almost always has negative consequences for someone else.
In this case, I would not consider it an exploit, because...
1. There is no bug. The camp deployment mechanism is not broken. You can't put it down where the devs didn't want you to, like in cities, near lairs, etc. You can only put it at the end of a bridge or under a bridge because nobody thought about not letting you do so. You're "exploiting" someone else's lack of vision maybe, but certainly not "exploiting" a bug.
2. There are no real negative consequences for anyone else. So what if I walk over a bridge you have your camp under? How does that hurt me?
3. You aren't gaining any "advantage" over me or any other player by doing this. At worst you are guilty of a lack of believable roleplaying.. but then again.. camping under a bridge seems kind of appropriate when considering an outdoorsman visiting the city. Maybe you don't like closed in spaces and are seeking extra shelter from the elements.... after all, you can't go in the tents and the ones with covers don't even stop the rain.
The ultimate would be to try and pitch a camp under a bridge and fish inside your camp at the same time.
I would say just don't impede anyone else's travel by blocking their path, or annoying folks in any other real way and you should be fine.
Not an exploit, but nor will I visit a camp of anyone that close to a town.
I will visit anyone's camp out in the weeds, often several times. And craft just so they get more xp. Close to town, nope, avoid em like the plague. Prolly some BH wannabe "pwer camping".

You don't get any extra xp for having a person pass through your camp. They have to stay there for a period of time for there to be any benefit.
Where exactly is the exploit?
