1)Being unique
2)area track (even though it isn't always reliable)
3)HTFB -- Just for the comments people make about it. However, it is nice way to get wounds healed without haveing to go to a city.

Being useful.
Oh wait, that is what I'd most like to see be added to Ranger. When I was a Ranger, I would have to say it was being one of a few, having people gawk at my huge Field Base, and the ability to track for people. As a BH I still kept the tracking, so I at least still have that from my Master Ranger days. I read the boards every day waiting for GreenMarine to post a Ranger Revamp and that will be the day I return.

Umm HTFB? What's that?
High Tech Field Base. Metal sheds, flags, chairs, lights, laser fence, crafting stations...
Sadly though, for as cool as it looks ...it is all just window dressing for a means to heal wounds slowly.

The best thing about being a ranger is popping into Theed Spaceport and seeing 2 more Master Rangers.. when we all notice each other, we all realize that this is a rare event.

I agree with the list as well. Sometimes i even feel useful helping my guilds BEs out with conceal and telling them everything about a beast.
I just like being able to roam a planet and just feel like im a part of it. Dont even need to kill everything on it. Just learn it.

Here's what I like:
The Community...first and foremost, we have one of the most polite communities in the game. We're small, we're close-knit, and we stage cross-server parties that may or may not end up with Bothans floating in the punchbowl.
The image: a Ranger is a rare and incredible thing, and that means it's nice to be a part of a skill-set that is actuallly as rare as Jedi were supposed to be. I like being the poet-warriors of the wilderness and knowing that while I may never be as uber as some proffessions, I won't ever need to be since the other Rangers on my server will always take the time and ask me if I want to join a hunt. No, I can't solo an Enraged Rancor. But with Fred sitting behind me with his rilfe, I don't NEED to.
The camps: they don't always work as advertised, but they are excellent eye-candy. I'm looking forward to finding out if modular camping will become a reality. That way camps will have increased function. That, and a High Tech Field Base with a rocket launcher would be SO cool.
The lifestyle: I have NEVER cracked a million credits. To be sure, such a feat when I was on Test Center would have been incredible. But then again, I have never felt the need to. I like hunting creatures and I rarely need many credits to do that. I often go unbuffed into a battle (a few days ago I went unbuffed -after I got DB'd wearing buffs- back to my hunting group and proceeded to hunt Enraged Rancors unbuffed, unspiced and unarmored. Yes, I did get killed, but only after a solid amount of time living on the edge. I love being able to do that. Not too many proffessions would stop, get off their bikes and take 15 minutes taking screenshots on Yavin4. That's a Ranger-ish thing to do. We can appreciate many of the little nuances of the game and appreciate the planets for their beauty.
The potential: this is the biggie. I see us being a great proffession, and that's what keeps me here, along with all the other things. There so much for us to do and so far for us to come. The potential of Ranger is incredible and all the time waiting and all the ideas the devs have nixed do little to diminish my faith in the usefullness and versatility of the Ranger proffession.

/agree to all of the above.
Basically my character decided she was a Ranger. I TRIED to get her to go creature handler but she racked up all that Ranger xp with such joy what could I do? Taming is boring. When I attained Master Ranger she felt complete. With my Master tag up it was easier to role play, I enjoyed quests and hunts more, I felt unique. Now that I have dropped some of Ranger to try being a semi combat-monster my character is having a bit of an identity crises. Lost and wandering in a bad way instead of a good way. So, like most people who have dropped Ranger I constantly repeat - I will be back! I will be back! As soon as I try out the high level content like the corvette and other dungeons I'll be... ug. Camping my way back to Master.
Rangers are very unique. Elite combat professions are mostly different ways to do the same thing - deal damage. Each line of the Ranger skill tree has a very different skill set. None of them (except perhaps tracking) are currently very useful, but all of them have incredible potential. It would be so easy to make our traps, camps, and other skills some of the coolest things in the game. In our minds they are alredy that way. Our camps are modular, our traps work on more than just npc creatures and cause status effects that mean something, and we can fade into the wilderness and disappear. We are just waiting for the moment we can pull them out and amaze.
Unfortunately the squad leader behind us used rally, we couldn't harvest our number, and the sneak took it!
So we will you amaze you right after them. Whenever that is. Probably Christmas.
Ranger is a great profession. I wish I was needed more and could contribute more to my guild and group, but for the most part I am content.
