Okay...so yes this is sad, but I ordered a new computer...it went through final quality control testing on Monday. I was going to wait to post this until I actually GOT the thing, but I decided it was better not to wait, since I'm so damn excited.

For those of you who DON'T know, my computer has been buggy as hell recently. I'm running on a LAPTOP for goodness sake and it just doesn't work right most of the time. I engaged a Enraged Rancor lair the other day with Fred, and when I hit my attack button...my computer dumped me out of SWG...for a solid 30 seconds...I then get it to come back in, and I try desperately to run away from a Rancor that decided to chew on me while I wasn't there...I do another attack...BAM! computer boots me from SWG and crashes completely. Blue Screen of Death. Game Over.

I haven't gone back on since then.

So here are the specs (at least tell me if I got somthing decent):

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with an Asus K8V SE deluxe VIA K8T800 chipset

ATI Radeon 9800XT (256 MB) (i even got half-life 2 for free)

1G Ram

160 GB Hard drive...

Personally, I think I made out like a bandit, especially with a price tag just north of $1600

(by the way this is the first computer I've ever bought on my own, since I'm a college kid, so forgive me if I'm overly giddy)

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

that's not a bad price. did it come with a monitor? I spent about 1500 on my rig, which is a P4 2.8GHz, 768 MB pc3200 RAM 40 GB HD and a flat panel 17" monitor..... the monitor chewed up about 400 bucks from my budget of course

Ya, I wondered what happened there. I don't think you died tho... but you may be logging in on top of a nasty rancor when you get back

btw, the shift ended. I'm doing surveys to find some good stuff, but Avian on Rori is gold for now. Too bad that is on Vir Vur and Flits.

Ahhhh Rori, my homeland.

Anyway, no, it didn't come with a moniter. But I have a 19-inch Flat Panel I picked up a year ago. I use it w/ my Laptop (I use a Port Replicator) and it's pretty good. No need to upgrade on that.

Don't you know that when engaging a Rancor on a laptop you get +75 CTD? I thought that was common knowledge.

btw CTD = crash to desktop, just in case

P4 3.0Ghz (from 3.0 to 3.3 is triple price and not all that much faster)
4 Gig RAM... repeat, 4 GIGABYTE RAM
latest uber ATI vid card... still faster then my friends latest uber NVidia but not by much. I may switch to a new NVidia when it becomes Uber again.
SATA RAID Array, total of 300 G storage, Mode 0.

+125 CTD defense. Has not crashed in SW:G to date (had it some 2 months now)

Not bad at all bro!! The video and ram are gonna really make a big difference!! I build comps for a hobby and 1300-1600 dollars is wht I can build a screamin machine for and I basically use NEWEGG!

Congrats! Good choice on the processor.. and with 1g ram it should run smooth with the detail cranked. Now if I could just scrape together $100 for some more memory.

whatever, I'll just gank it from Fred computer...it's not like he'll notice. Even if he's sitting there playing, he'll never see a lowly Bothan.

It's here! Delivered via my friendly FedEx gal. It is currently sitting in boxes while I post this last post before logging off to set up the new comp.

I should be on, screaming fast and actually seeing shadows....woot.

However, be warned...I blame all previous deaths on the lack of a good computer and the requisite Laptop Lag...and I blame all future deaths on the "shift" from the laptop to the CyberPower tower.

The excuse I use for my deaths is the rerolling of my character from a Weaponsmith/merchant to a Ranger/Rifleman. It's not my fault, it's SOE's for not letting me have fun as the WSmith.
