64-bit Athlons upgrade to 4 gig. Yup yup. But I just started with one. Darn stuff is expensive.

the ub3r part about his computer is with options up all the way, little to no framerate drop. I lose a few frames when transisitonaing between starport and city, but this is minimal.
please forgive any typos, I am actully quite drunk right now. I am stunned. I am dizzied. I am blinded! My friend is bleeding (no, really, he tried going drink for drink with me and failed...face+concrete=ouch) blah blah blah I love my new comp.

Most P4 Motherboards with the 875P chipset are capable of 4 gigs dual ddr. I have an ASUS P4C800E capable of it, but a wallet capable of only 2 gigs .

Well, my rig isn't as uber, but it manages:
3.0C P4 Overclocked to 3.4GHz (Air cooled. It actually heats up my room when I don't open a window or two)
ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe @ 227MHz True FSB (908MHz Quad)
2GB Dual Geil PC4000 (512MB x 4)
ASUS ATi Radeon 9800XT 256MB
I do seem to be having 3D lighting problems with SWG. Probably a driver or compatibility issue. Well, nevermind. *puts spotlight back on Phenix*

So here are the specs (at least tell me if I got somthing decent):
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with an Asus K8V SE deluxe VIA K8T800 chipset
ATI Radeon 9800XT (256 MB) (i even got half-life 2 for free)
1G Ram
160 GB Hard drive...
Personally, I think I made out like a bandit, especially with a price tag just north of $1600
(by the way this is the first computer I've ever bought on my own, since I'm a college kid, so forgive me if I'm overly giddy)
looks like a good rig.
1 thing to watch out for though, ATI and VIA are notorious for releasing driver updates that conflict with each other. ATI has come a LOOOONG way on there driver support though...so hopefully they have all these issues ironed out. Hope that 160 HDD is a SATA drive....makes a big difference, being disk through put is the main bottleneck currently...

Yes, you are correct, the new chipsets allow 4 G. The new set of Intel CPU also show up as dual procs to XP Professional. I think I paid $800 for the RAM, I got a bargin, but I still had to special order. They are 400mhz tho, I did not yet trust the 533mhz at that time (even the store manager said this: the big sticks of mem were "iffy" and he had them returned often).

oh ya, and I OC the bus to 840 so the mem is running like 420 and the proc like 3.2 Ghz.
