Well that was an arse. BLoody thing went without any text in it. Regardless on to my question.
Is a camo kit better than mask scent? Assuming all skill point modifiers are the same (so at Master Ranger), is a camp kit better than mask scent? Im trying to work out if I should acctually bother getting the kit to make these things.

I think the answer is if you are a rifleman, yes. If you are not a rifleman, not so much. However, there may be people out there who prefer camo - they can provide you with the benefits over maskscent. For me they are too much of a hassle and do not provide a noticable benefit.

I'm sorry but someone applied camo to me the other day and we walked right through the center of a rebel camp as overt imperials with an at-st without being seen. Is that common or was it a fluke?

Yea for me ... I always prefer camo. I hear a lot of people have problems with it, but I simply don't - perhaps I am just lucky. But I have always found that camo stays on longer than mask scent and usually stays oneven when I am fighting creatures. As for the ease of use ... I keep "conceal" on my tool bar with a key bound to it which makes it easy for me to apply quickly to myself and others who may be hunting with me.

I'm assuming this has to do with the rifleman's ability to "take cover". I'm currently transitioning from fencer to rifleman, and I'd like any edge I can get

Im currently working my way up the TK profession. I figure I'll hang on to the Master skill for as long as possible until the lure of the Rifleman shouts louder. I really want to try Ranger Rifles, but I dont know if I can bare to go back to hunting Kreetles again.

Yea for camo from me.
Ranger/Rifleman/marksman.
Am finding on low level planets it works exceptionally well, even against NPC's. Tho some do have a higher tendency to break it. Kreetles, peh.
Can cammo up, walk into the squill cave. So long as they aren't aggroed and stirred up, I can get right to the bottom of the cave without too much bother. Have also been knocked off my bike by Tusken while cammoed and they've walked over me and not DB'd. ./shrug
That having been said, it's not magic. Run up to a critter, attack it in close, stand around in it's eyeline too long and you'll get caught. A cape of invisibility it's not.
Course, higher planets, high end creatures, your'e as well using maskscent.
(as for the riflemans /takecover. I daren't use it as I cna't get up to run away fast enough. /conceal and the innate cover skill seems to be enough)

Dath camo let me solo the force sensitive survival tree mission (the mission to unlock the force sensitive tree full of ranger/scout skills) on TC2so I vote yay. Without camo, I would not have been able to finish the missions without some strong combat help. While I do enjoy grouping, it is nice to see the Devs put some effort into the FS missions (especially making it so that the quests actually use the skills they are related to).

YAY!!!
Being a rifleman I love it. But what I hate is when it breaks when someone rides right past you and the critters at top speed, this usualy breaks the conceal and the next thing is you have several angry beasts charging towards you seeking revenge

long run, its worth it if you craft the kits with high experimentation. i get 14 uses instead of 7. Lasts a long time.
Reason why its most bennficial to a rifleman is because rifleman typically rely on sniping. (spamming headshot 3 or conceal shot). Avoiding detection as a rifleman is key. Especially if you view armor as an unneccessary encumberance, combined that with rifleman typically have very poor defenses.
