Another thread got me thinking about this. What makes you quake in your boots?

When my Doc tells me there is great avian meaton Corellia!

When I realize that Jedi are about to become the uber harvesters.

And rasps and kreetles, of course.

Poachers. Especially when they emerge unexpectedly in your own hunt group. Always be the leader.

I wouldn't get too worked up about that yet, as NO ONE knows how the Jedi revamp is going to change things. While they may get the +5 harvesting from the Pre-Jedi stuff, they will still need that actualy command to harvest. This is not supposed to be possible once they take the Trials.

From the Jedi Archives Part II, the Devs clearly state that you can have Jedi skills along with normal skills. Only PvE Master Jedi (i.e. the 4/4/4/4 Guardians now) give up all their skill points for Jedi skills (see the force sensitivity-Ranger style post for the exact quote). I don't want that to change and I don't think the Devs will change it. But it does mean that a very powerful Jedi can still have Novice Scout. And, when a Jedi grinds, they kill a LOT of creatures. Even though I don't support myself on harvesting, I find this worrying. I don't want Jedi to be nerfed but the Devs definately need to consider such a change unless they no longer want Rangers to be supplying the resource market. When Jedi asked for the ability to harvest, we all laughed. Well, they are getting that ability now according to the information we have. This is not necessarily a bad thing. But it does mean that we will be cut out of a large part of the resource market (i.e. anything that spawns on an adventure planet). All I'm saying is that the Devs need to have this pointed out to them. Especially when you consider that I have more Jedi on my friends list than I do Rangers.

When someone asks me to track something.

When someone asks me what "useful" skills a Ranger has..

When I have to explain that area track is not planet wide

Shapuats. I got my @zz kicked by those things so often as I noob that even now at master Rifleman I still walk softly around them. Also, spineflap soldiers and handmaidens. I had a day of failed attempts to do one lair of them. Impossible as a noob...... I just go and make a vacation of wacking them........

I giggle when I see rancors tho... But a shuapaut....*shiver*

I agree. For low level mobs, this is not a big deal, we can kill just as fast as a jedi, and harvest more.
This harvest bonus breaks down on the higher level creatures. It would take me a while to clear a lair, but only seconds for a jedi to clear a lair. Even though jedi harvest less per creature, over time the jedi would havest more. Good thing creatures always spawn, because at the rate a jedi harvester would slash through a population, extinction would become a problem.

hehe yep - or even worse, Tat. or Rori.

Also disease - I hate all of the small critters (vrelts, diseased nunas, shaupauts, wrixes) that have disease. Nothing ruins a hunting trip faster than getting agro'ed and diseased by some small creature.... If I'm buffed I just wait it out; otherwise I start looking for the fastest route to the cloner...

Calculus took my answer! I suppose that's not possible since he started this thread, but still...

There's a really good avian meat spawn on Corellia (Ahazi) right now. Some docs and medical corporations are offering 300 cpu. Yes, 300 cpu. I can't bring myself to go and hunt it. I just can't. I took a look at the DLT20a I keep for these things, and I couldn't bring myself to pick the darn thing up. I am passing on a 300 cpu hunt. 300! That's the highest price per unitI've ever seen for a resource.

I'm just chalking this one up to the best paying novice combat grind ever.

Cringe, shudder, hang my head in disgust?

Watching the "uber" weapons guys lay waste to any herd of creatures, then not harvest.

Actually having to use a medical facility only to wait. 3 Master Medic's and I can't get healed because they healing the tumbler's.

Harvesting insect meat on Tatooine. 1 unit per kreetle. GRRRR.
