Couldnt quite figure the title.. Anyway.

I was just at the DE forums and they were talking about using a droid to stack it loaded full of the harvesting tools to get a bonus over what they harvest. So, I have to buy a droid, buy batteries for the droid, buy the harvesting mods(do they wear out over time?) and use that to get a harvesting bonus? /sigh

A qoute: Yes they stack, and stacking improves the droids harvisting ability in relation to you. A droid with a harvest power of 7 was something like 75-80% as good as I was, and some others who had 120 power droids were reporting a 20% bonus on their harvesting ability.

you don't buy harvesting mods, these are inserted by the DE into the droid when they make it. And while the modules won't wear out, the droid may.

Wear is kind of an interesting question. It really depends on whether or not the creatures target this droid or not. Since you need 6 harvesting modules to even make it have any utility at all, I don't think the droid can have anything else in it, including any combat modules, so it will be defenseless, yet it will be out there while you are presumably in battle with aggros. We all know that creatures will sometimes attack your speeder or other (non-combat) droids, so I would presume that from time to time creatures would attack the harvesting droid as well.

The more I think about these droids, the more useless they seem. Of course I can help myself and will definitely be buying one to try regardless.

Well, thats what makes this game so interactive. We need droids to get a bonus but the Droid Engineeers need money so our droids are sent in to get aggro'd on. They get destroyed and we go.. huh. Guesss I will go spend another 35k on one. /sigh

***cross posting from DE board***

Harvests: All bone from mountain dewbacks ("medium size"), checked each configuration 3+ times. I am 0030 ranger.
-------------------------------------
Me harvesting, solo: 44 units

Me harvesting, grouped with creature pet: 44 units

Droid Harvesting, grouped with it and pets: 47 units

Me harvesting, grouped with droid and pet: 44 units

So, that appears to be working correctly, albeit a semi smallish bonus. Droid's harvest bonus rating of 81 led to a bonus of 6.8%.

Trapping:
-------------------------------------
Module worked as reported. I could load in traps, up to the amount listed on the deed (each individual trap counts as 1 spot, not each stack). Droid seemed to fire a trap every 5 seconds if I queued up more than one, independent of my combat queue. Only allowed me to load 1 type, even with more than one trap module.

According to the DE that was working on these droids for me (thanks J'Vee!), the trapping module *storage* seems to cap out at 2 modules. He got 24 storage for each, so 48 max traps stored. Not sure if there is a bonus to your to-hit of traps or anything for stacking beyond that.

I think that I'll really like having a 4x harvest 2x trap R3 with me whenever I am hunting, loaded up with phecnacine darts, or adhesive mesh.

For when I really want to stock up on resources, I might use a 6x harvest module droid as well.

I am testing as I am writing this. I outharvest droids with 15 and 30 harvesting rating (20 is supposedly the cap), but not by very much. Still, these droids are useless to a master ranger. They do not give a bonus to what you harvest yourself as far as I can see, and only you OR the droid can harvest a creature.Next up is an R3 droid full of harvesting modules.

I'm tired so I maybe I missed it but....

if Droids can actually cause people to harvest additional resources in comparison to what they can without.....this forum will see a meltdown of epic proportions, never seen on any server.

I don't see why... I've been wanting a harvesting boost for ages. If I have to use a droid to do it, then fine. Not my first choice, but DE's need a niche, too.

As long asthe droid's harvesting rate isbased on theplayer's harvesting skills, it'll be a net boost to Rangers. It'll increase the gap between Ranger harvesting and non-Ranger harvesting.

From what I've been hearing, the bonus offered by the droids isn't enough.

I agree with you CatAtomic... I can't begin to see why there seems to be so much unease over this.

A droid with enough good quality modules just provides a *small* percent bonus to the harvest quantity, pretty much exactly like using veghash food. In fact, upon further testing I figured out that this bonus is stackable with veghash bonuses.

A novice scout isn't going to be running around outharvesting a master ranger; the droid I got with +85 harvest rating gives me somewhere around a 7% bonus. And remember, a 7% bonus means more to a ranger than a scout, because the ranger has a greater base harvest to multiply.

I think these new modules are good for rangers/scouts, provide a *greater* benefit the more harvest skill you have (ie, better for master ranger than master scout), and spread some of the wealth to DE's, who needed some love badly. Why look a gift horse in the mouth?

Well, I tested it and with a droid that has a harvesting mod of 91, and extracting meat off a rogue fambaa, I pulled around 147 units and the droid pulled 144. Keep in mind, these droids can go up to 120 harvesting mod. While extracting meat from a maverick gualama I pulled 33 units and the same droid pulled 35. So in that instance it pulled more than me at Master Ranger. Honestly, though, I just found it to be a real nuisance to have the droid out extracting resources. It is just one more thing for me to worry about. I would rather just kill em and skin em myself. I will try to get my hands on adroid with the max 120 harvesting mod and see what results I can get.
