Thread: Fastest way to finish camp tree?

All I know to do is fight creatures, get beaten up, make a camp, sit in it and heal all the while making practice camps. Is that all I can do? I forage while in the camp too, but I don't know if that makes any difference on how much experience I will get after I disband the camp.

It seems that tree is grossly disadvantaged as opposed to the other skill trees. The others are easy to max out quickly. Am I wrong?

At the rate I'm going it will prolly take me a month to master Ranger. Normal or no?

It pains me to respond to this simply because there are a MILLION posts already like it.
You are looking for a way to grind fronteiring xp (which will draw some flaming on the ranger boards). Do a search and you will QUICKLY find what you're after.

Go on group hunts. Every now and then people will want to do some quick healing, or rebuffing, etc. Instead of driving 4km back to the starport, throw down a camp. This is way more entertaining than just grinding it out.

Why the rush? Took me about 5 to go from noob to Master Ranger, and from what I gather that was actually quick compared to some .

As others have mentioned here and in many other threads, "grinding" and Ranger generally don't go together. Best thing to do is get a hunt party together, go out, kill some stuff, throw down a camp, heal. Bring an entertainer friend and have them dance or play music to heal mind wounds or rebuff mind stats as necessary, or just entertain you and your group. Bring a doc or two to speed the healing process. Craft lots of traps to use on the trapping skill branch, or just to use in general - you can NEVER have too many traps (especially PDarts & glow wire). Craft more camps to use the next time too, it's always helpful to have a few camps in the old inventory for when you don't want to wait 15s to pull a swoop or droid, or have to heal up. If you're REALLY lucky, pitch the camp close enough to some water that you can do all of this AND spend some time fishing while in the camp. Spend some time RPing, chatting with friends, comparing the uber CDEF pistols you looted, whatever.

It's a game, it's supposed to be fun - and with Ranger, it's most certainly about the journey, not the destination.

Don't get me wrong I love playing the game, being a Ranger, RP'ing occasionally and just having fun. I guess what I'm saying is the frontiering tree seems to be the hardest and a little unbalanced against the other skill trees that I thought I was doing something wrong because it's been taking forever and I'm only on the 2nd box, whereas on the other trees I'm already at or about to hit the 4th skill box.

I guess I'm just in for the long haul. I guess Noob hunting parties is where it's at.

Thanx for the input.

No, you aren't doing anything wrong. I think for a long time I was a 4/1/4/4 ranger (if I remember the order correctly on that). Wilderness survival xp is definately harder to gain than trapping or scouting xp.

Some people also set up camps around a city with a major starport (theed/cnet) and invite crafters. The more people in the camp, the quicker it will max out it's xp. WheneverI see a camp like that, I always drop in and say, "Hi" and then I am on my way again.

Best of luck to you, Re'os

yup, that's about it. Noob parties or guild hunts. I did quite a bit of both, plus a lot of sitting around crafting traps and camps while camping, or having guild docs heal tumblers in my camps so they could run up thier medic xp. Oddly enough, I finished up frontiering IV BEFORE I finished wayfaring and tracking lines. Trapping took less than an hour to complete.

I like the long wait on camping(wilderness) branch. In my observations it is the only thing keeping Ranger from being the most expeditous grind hands down. I have been Ranger for a couple O' months and if wilderness would be less the hastle, this profession would have been an easy macro run like marksman. So much for an elite profession right?

Ok I didnt say this. but one thing i did was help a friend get his Doc by GULP Tumbling in my camps. Find a Medic and if you can get the abil;ity to tumble set a camp near Eisley or any other Nooblet Starter city and Tumble till someone comes needing a heal. Always heal those who need it. No AFK. AFK Rangers Suck Nuna nuts.

Ok, I;m ready to be flamed, and i do suck nuna nuts, but If you really want to grind this you can either set up an afk camping macro (you have to wait for the tent to auto disband (takes about 50 mins)) or you can grind it like any other crafting profession. I personally love ranger but i also see nothing wrong with grinding (ducks from JB on one...)

Give me a shout if you want to macro it... (because i know how hard it is to get a group together that actually wants to go out on a proper hunt)
