Thread: Kash. Camo Kits on TC now

And I like the changes they made to the camo kits, so that we can sell them to players to use on themselves, but less effective than if we apply it. Gives us stuff to sell but still makes it worth having a Ranger around for full effectiveness.

Camouflage Kits are now usable by non-Rangers. Any player may now self-apply a camouflage kit to gain a small conceal buff. This buff is less effective than if a Ranger had applied the camouflage, but it should aid crafters in avoiding the unwanted attention of critters near their installations. Also, camouflage kits are now usable from the button bar
They are giving away our skills to all other players, that is definately good news. ![]()
Having something to sell is not a good thing either, just means now we need to think about "stocking" these things for EVERYONE. Guess I'll need to get a factory set down and I'll have to go resource hunting.

They already gave away Mask Scent with the Aroma Screen injection thing. At least with this, if they are using Camo they are doing it with a kit purchased from a Ranger. So at least we'll have the chance to make some credits off of it. We'll be the ones "giving it away", not some loot drop.

Time to get a vendor stocked with camo kits...
Time to yank all mine off my vendor. I'll be damned if I'm going to feed this change.
We need to get some testing done, if these kits are anything like our camo in terms of effectiveness then this is just a joke.

I'm going to have to pull an all nighter to get TC patched and have a chance to look at this in the morning before having to go out and do family c&&p.
If these mini-buffs are as effective as the rest of the buffage ingame I'm sorry, but it's a big fat "Oh why bother". Unless they give players a SIGNIFICANT advantage you're not going to be able to charge much for them and I doubt you'll come anywhere near recovering the cost of the ingredients. Still, we'll see.
Now, I've got one respec, maybe two, left. I had been toying with coming back to Ranger on my Main cos, well, I like playing a halfpowered, under defended, easily pwned character, of course.
But let's see what we've got to persuade the wandered ranger, or rangerette, to return to the camp:
Terrain negotiation and burst run. The increases for these to Ranger are laughable, I've barely noticed a difference as a scout 4's.
Cammo. WEll, we'll see how testing goes.
Traps. Uhm, well, it seems to be my CL more than my trapping level that's affecting my traps (at lvl77 with Scout trapping III can get traps to stick on critters well up in the 60's. Drop combat skills to bring my CL to the 50's and I can't get them to stick on 60's so often and my 'guaranteed' sticl level is inthe 40's) Ranger might make them stick a little more often, but, well...
Harvesting. Yeah, I'll give you that. I really hated not having ANY harvesting for a few days, all those corpses... and scout 4's just doesn't quite do the business.
Camps. There is a use for them.... levelling ground so my rifleman can shoot from a concealed position, but beyond that... oh, I can pull my multipassenger speeder out faster or, uhm... oh yeah, move trees for quest targets.
As you can tell, I'm seriously underwhelmed by what the game offers our profession. What the players who ARE rangers bring to the game is beyond value but am afraid it doens't kill or harvest beasties for me.
About the only thing I can see that'd persuade me back to rangerliness in any meaningful way is the fact that, as a rifleman ranger I can keep my CL down by not taking some of the really busted lines, so the stuff I CAN kill still gives good XP, then I get to harvest it for MORE XP and that might help me get my 2nd char slot a little faster....
/sigh
c'mon, somebody, say somehting POSITIVE....
