Thread: Campers are making me insane
My point here has probably been talked about earlier, but I am new and I dont know so I'll add it. I have to btw. i want to see if others have the same problems.
First - the scout tree sucks, and is only bad for ranger. One way to change that is to get that cursed bountyhunter profession unrelated to scout. Its either that or make the field bases way better. Why?
Rememberthose timesyou are in a party, and isabout to break out your massive field-base where the 20 man party all can fit and heal? Neither do I, because it seems to be custom to let some crappy scout dabbler get his cursed survival exp by letting him pull a basic kit out every time. People doesn't seem to appreciate the field bases, and since 99% of all the people playing (yes the TKA's, BH's and Commandos etc., 100%firepowerclassesmake out 99% of the population) needs scouting skills themselves (not because they like it, but because they need it to dabble further), they all agree "ok let the guy get his exp".
I am starting to find this very annoying. I dont need any Scout/Ranger exp i maxed it, but that doesn't mean that I dont want to use the stuff i have worked hard to get. I want my party to rest in my camps because they are the best. If theres not another master ranger in the party, that is. And also important, i want to rest in it myself. I have now made it ahabit to break out a field base as soon as someone pulls out their crappier camps, but its not as fun sitting in it yourself. Or with a few sympathizing -real- scouts/rangers.
Why does it have to be like this? Its notas ifpeople go "hey! let the novice doctor do the buffing, he needs exp!" You never hear that, because then the people couldnt use their combat characters to the fullest. The way I see it, and obviously every military organization on earth too, is thatone of the most important aspects of field operations is camp establishment. Everything that goes on besides the actual fighting takes place in the camps.
Why are the camps so crappy then? Even the best ones. Wow... a food and chem crafting station. Thats so awsome.I wount have to take my speeder 5 seconds to the nearest city and do the stuff i most likely did before i went out anyway. The creature repelling function should work better. Infact, you should not evenabandon camp from fighting aggresive monsters that approaches it.Who the #¤&¤ came up with that idea? Isn't camps supposed to be defensivepositions too why do I automaticly abandon it when I defend it? Really bad idea. Also, there should be more to it. People should think that the ranger is an asset, because he can make a camp (and of course for other reasons..). As it isnow, a ranger is at most a little cool. To others, that is. Thats what we are to the general public. We are not like commandos or BHs (or the crafters by all means), that provide something good. We're just "kind of cool". "This camp is kind of cool". Yes thats all there is to it. Someone should fix it.
Here is a tip btw. if you are starting to get tired of being a ranger (which i know many people have, and switched profession), just watch some fool engage in a fight and mess up, then watch them trying to get away without our superior terrain negotiation and burst run efficiency. Its kind of fun to see them run like crazybut only to die exhausted rather then not. Thats btw also a problem i have noticed, people drop ranger after a while because they dont think its good. That creates a new sphere of people that think we arent any good too. Not that it matters all to much but who wants to be considered not good? At least not I.

And to the scout-tree-climbers destroying this for us, why dont you do like the rest of us did? If you want to increase your survival skill through camping (which is stupid from a tree-climber perspectivebtw. when you can finish the entire branch in 3-4 hours through craft-grinding), why dont you do it with your buddies instead? your guild or something. thats how it should be done, they can take sitting in a crappy camp for your survival skill. They dont mind because they're already friends with you. When you are in groups with people you dont know (yet) I dont want to see any damned "hey omg plz can i do the camps, cuz i need exp". Noone wants your garbage camps, nor do they care about your 4-500 exp.People onlyagree to be nice since youaredesperate enough to suggest it. Itsbad manners. If you want your camp to be used join groups in which your camp is the best available.
look mr "comes of selfish"if you wantsurvival exp because youre one of the guys doingwhat i described, just say so. Its not a selfish thing when you dont do it to gain from it yourself only. What do i getthat incites me towant my own camps up?I maxed the frontieeringtree, I justthink Rangers shouldn't have to put up with this, even though we may not even need the exp its still better for the profession as a whole if people get something out of completing the skill trees. If you dont want to thats fine, but see that many of us genuine rangers care and want to be what we are made out to be. support units. I dont want to createmy ownparty Im no squad leader. What I dowant to do in a party though, besides the fighting/talkingis:
1 Keep an eye out for danger (big hug out to those that came up with areatrack its lovely)
2camouflage the party members that cannot conceal themselves.
3 build camps
Thats imho what being a ranger is all about. I thinkwould bea great feeling to stand ona dathomirean mountaintopscanning the terrainfor game, while the party is safely concealed in a field base down below. I wonder if we ever get to experience that though. Now 90% has mask scent anyway (and camo breaks all the time, even if you are a master), people want crappy camps, and noone want to wait 5 sec for an areascan they rather want to run into a bunch of aggros getting half the group killed (happened to me alot). I know its already said in the forum that rescue is useless. Who has gotthe 10-20 seconds it takes for it to happen when someone next to them is dying. Doesn't matter heh it never works anyway it only makes you combat inefficient for a little while. Good thing we're outstanding in solo player-vs-monsters, thats where i find the real pleasure atm.
Anyone else curious about how the space expansion will affect us? I dont think rangers in a spacetravellersworld is limited to ground tasks, no other profession is.

If u feel this way, then simply DONT HUNT WITH NEWBS.
It's really not that difficult of a concept. I used my uber camps often when on big hunts. If u choose to roll with grinders then u pay the consequences...
The only way we will ever get people to our big camps is to put buffs in them like "Meditate". Sit in a master Ranger camp for ten minutes you get a nice HAM buff. This way even the scouts would beg us to pull our camps.
That's it. Only way. Really. End of story.
